Killiney and Flagstaff Hills walk
Killiney and Flagstaff Hills walk
This coming Sunday (21st June) we're having a walk to Killiney Hill via Flagstaff Hill (also known as Roche's Hill). **Meeting Location** Outside Killiney DART Station - There are two exits from the station onto Station Road. We'll meet at the exit which has a disabled parking space and bicycle stands. There's a train that's due to leave Dublin Connolly at 11:28 which should arrive in Killiney at 12:05. It starts in Malahide at 11:02 and stops at all stations so feel free to get on where you want. **\*\*\* Important, please click on Attend if you wish to join this event \*\*\*** From the meeting point we will walk to Flagstaff Hill with its excellent views over Dublin Bay and the nearest parts of the Dublin Mountains. From there it's a short walk to Killiney Hill with its famous obelisk and pyramid where even better views can be had on a clear day. We will then go past the old signal station and then down to Dalkey village. We'll finish up at Dalkey Station. If it's dry and warm enough, we'll probably have a picnic at some point along the walk so feel free to bring some food and drink. We will finish in Dalkey so we'll probably also visit a café or pub there. We hope to see you there! [Host(s)] Tim (085 718 5658) WhatsApp messages preferred. FAQs 1. Is there a charge for this event? No, this is a free event. Sometimes we have events that involve a visit to a museum or garden with an entrance fee - but this will be clearly marked in the details 2. Is it OK for people on a short visit to Ireland to join this walk? Yes both visitors and residents alike are welcome to join our walks. 3. How easy/difficult is this walk? Most walking groups would classify this as a medium walk, so having a reasonable level of fitness is recommended. Some parts of the walk are quite steep with narrow, uneven paths and the total distance is around 7-8km. 4. Why are there only a limited number of places for this event? To ensure the best possible experience for the people attending it is necessary to limit the numbers, especially as the chosen route may not be straightforward. 5. Why is it necessary to book on this event if you wish to attend? This is because there are only a limited number of spaces (see point above) and to ensure the fairest allocation of spaces, we kindly request everyone to book a place. It's OK to change your mind about coming but please change your RSVP in plenty of time for someone else to take the place if they wish to. PLEASE NOTE: Walking like many outdoor activities carries an element of risk. People who take part in our meet up activities do so at their own risk and are responsible for their own actions and involvement. If you register to join our meet up walks you agree that you wish to take part in the activities knowing these risks. Please wear boots, shoes or runners that you find comfortable, provide suitable support and have good grip as some of the paths may be uneven or steep. In some places there is gorse next to the path, so trousers or leggings are recommended over shorts or skirts. If you have waterproof trousers then feel free to wear them for extra protection. It is also recommended to bring water to avoid dehydration. Bring warm clothes and a waterproof jacket or umbrella in case of inclement weather. Sunday boardgame meetup
Sunday boardgame meetup
Our free-of-charge meet-up in the Black Sheep Pub on Capel Street. This is a casual meet up for people who want to play boardgames. Lots of people bring plenty of games and rules will always be explained so don't worry if you're new to the hobby and you don't have anything to bring along or think you won't know how to play. The meet-up runs for the whole day but late comers always welcome, you just may have to wait a little for a game to open up but games will be starting and ending throughout the day. **IMPORTANT!** **The meet up is free of charge but we do ask that people support the bar by buying food and/or drink. The bar is very accommodating to us and it's important that we support them in return. Bringing in outside food or drink is completely unacceptable.** Check out the comments below where people will say what games they are bringing and express your interest in joining if interested. Any questions contact either of the organisers Gavin or Stephen.

Cruise & Brews
Cruise & Brews
Cruise up the Upper Alum Creek on your kayak through the Osprey viewing area, winding your way past the tiny village of Kilbourne, and then landing at Hemmick Farm & Brewery for a lunch on their patio with a wide selection of beers. Chose from their several food trucks. Don't enjoy too much as we have to paddle, at least downstream, back to our launch site. We launch a 9:30 from the Howard Road Boat Launch of the Alum Creek State Park. Ample parking and a kayak launch. Kayaks or canoes advised. Recreational paddleboarders might have a tough-time with the distance and speed. Bring a hat, sunscreen, bug spray, and something to cover up while at Hemmick Farm.
