No membership fees, no speeches, and no agenda. Just good people, good conversation, and a great Canadian night out in the heart of London. We look forward to seeing you there! David Mathews Leader, The London Expat Canadian Meetup Group About the London Vandoos The Vandoos is a group of like-minded and unlike-minded Canadians who get together on the 22nd of each month (or near about) at a selected London pub to meet new people and catch up with old friends. Guests and "honourary" Canadians are always welcome. The London Vandoos was originally formed as a Yahoo group and is the social arm of Network Canada. Past Network Canada President Dave Mathews organizes the monthly Vandoos Meetups. The evenings are very similar to the Monthly Monday night wings event... without the wings! The venues are announced roughly six to eight weeks prior to the event. Keep the 22nd of each month circled, something will be happening around that date! Hope to see you at a Vandoos gathering soon! [) The London Expat Canadian Meetup Group is dedicated to providing a harassment-free meetup experience for everyone. Our Code of Conduct outlines the standards and behaviours that help to shape and strengthen our community group. All event participants are expected to uphold these high standards, ensuring fellowship within a community of Canuck-minded people. Kayaking on the River Thames, Beginner Friendly. Kew to Old Isleworth and back.
A great way to experience kayaking or canoeing on the Thames as a first timer or newish paddler, with [Edge Progressive Paddling](https://edgepaddling.com/). The session will be led by a very experienced Coach who will keep you safe and provide instruction. Meet at the Kew Bridge arches (Brentford side - see map). We will paddle upstream with the tide, along the beautiful section of the river besides Kew Gardens and Syon Park. We will take a break in Old Isleworth while the tide turns and return with the tide to Kew Bridge. Approximate total distance is 4 miles or 6.5KM. Optional social in the pub afterwards. Boat, paddle & buoyancy aid will be provided. Dress for the weather: man-made fibres that don't hold water, an extra layer for the pub stop, waterproof if it looks like rain; for your feet closed toe shoes that you don't mind getting muddy e.g. old trainers, wetsuit boots or water shoes. You may get a bit wet so bring a change of clothing and shoes for afterwards. Changing facilities are available at the arches - arrive a little early please if you need to change beforehand. Cost £20. The cost of the taster session can be discounted from [annual membership](https://edgepaddling.com/membership/) if you join the club. Please arrive promptly or you may literally miss the boat. All participants must be able to swim. For more information on the club see [our website](https://edgepaddling.com/) and [facebook group](https://www.facebook.com/groups/edgepaddling/).

Canal Walk - Angel to Victoria Park Cafe / Market
Canal Walk - Angel to Victoria Park Cafe / Market
We will enjoy a leisurely walk (approx 45 mins - 1 hour) along Regent's Canal from Angel station and ending at the fabulous Victoria Park Market. This event usually runs on the 4th Sunday of each month, unless there is bad weather or exceptional circumstances. We are a welcoming group, so feel free to mix around and say hello other people. There is a wondering food market in Victoria Park, and most of us will get something to eat together. We usually sit on the grass or public benches (if available) near the Bonner Gate entrance, behind the Dogs of Alcibiades statue. This is at the intersection of foodstalls running north/south and east/west. If it is raining or the market is closed, we can either go to the Pavillion cafe, or The Crown pub on Grove Road instead. Please note a few points: 1\. There is currently no charge for this group\. I will need to review this again later in 2026\. 2\. WE WILL WAIT ONLY ABOUT 10 MINUTES AFTER THE START TIME\. If you are running late\, please catch us up along the canal\. Please note\, I will not be checking for meetup or whatsapp messages after the walk starts\. 3\. The nearest tube station to Victoria Park is Bethnal Green station \(central line\)\. Please check Google Maps or similar\. 4\. You are responsible for yourselves on the walk\, so please bring appropriate footwear etc\. Please be mindful of those around you\, especially where the canal gets narrow in places\. Whatsapp group here: https://chat.whatsapp.com/IJd6MJfVDPC6jUw6iW77ZY Previously, there was a separate walk on the 3rd Sunday of the month, which started at Limehouse Basin, and then ran along the same canal to Victoria Park. Please note, the walks starting from Limehouse on the 3rd Sunday of the month are now cancelled for the foreseeable future.
