Kayaking on the River Thames. Join us for our annual Pride paddle!
A great way to experience kayaking on the Thames as a first timer or newish paddler with reasonable fitness (2hrs of actual paddling), with [Edge Progressive Paddling](https://edgepaddling.com/). The session will be led by a very experienced Coach who will keep you safe and provide instruction. Meet at the Kew Bridge arches (Brentford side - see map). We will paddle downstream with the tide, towards Barnes and then return with the tide.
Boat, paddle & buoyancy aid will be provided. Dress for the weather: man-made fibres that don't hold water, waterproof if it looks like rain; for your feet closed toe shoes that you don't mind getting muddy e.g. old trainers, wetsuit boots or water shoes. You may get a bit wet so bring a change of clothing and shoes for afterwards. Changing facilities are available at the arches - arrive a little early please if you need to change beforehand.
Cost £20. The cost of the taster session can be discounted from [annual membership](https://edgepaddling.com/membership/) if you join the club.
Please arrive promptly or you may literally miss the boat. All participants must be able to swim.
For more information on the club see [our website](https://edgepaddling.com/) and [facebook group](https://www.facebook.com/groups/edgepaddling/).

Shut Up & Write!® LONDON / PECKHAM
**UPDATE FOR FEB-APRIL 2026:**
For February - end of April 2026 the host of this event will be away. It will still be happening every week, but will be a self-running group.
If you are a regular - please welcome any newcomers and be prepared to set the 1 hour timer.
If you are a newcomer, the group is usually easy to find (the table/s with notebooks and laptops), and the bar staff know where we are if you can't spot us first time. Happy writing!
**\~**
Join us for an hour of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at 18:00 on Wednesday afternoons/evenings.
Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.
SCHEDULE:
18:00 - Quick introductions
18:15 - Timer starts: write for 1 hour
19:15 - The End: chat, take off, or keep writing
OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 19:30. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing.
BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and get settled. If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer.
Happy writing and I look forward to seeing you at the Peckham Pelican!
What Should I Bring?
Whatever you need to be able to write!

Revealing Writing
**A space for exploring creative writing as practice and journaling for self reflection. There will the support of the group, suggested exercises, methods and forms. Space to share your words, space to choose not to. Share your struggles and surprises with your creativity. A space in your week to connect, drop deeper and breathe some life into some familiar and strange ideas.**
**Writing can be a practice of journaling to get your thoughts and feelings onto the page and have some distance and perspective. There can be a sense of finding out something new through writing that brings up unexpected thoughts, stories and emotions. This can be a therapy of taking more care of yourself, mind and heart.**
**Writing slows our words down, and gives us time to taste, observe and pay attention to the flow and receiving of words and language. Did I really say that? And who said that? Can be revealing questions and open new ways of being yourself with others. We can also be with our choices to share, not to share, exploring privacy and secrets in our communications. Our words often reveal what we are not able or willing to say and so we may ask ourselves, how is this true? And stay interested in the gaps, pauses and shadows of our descriptions.**
I will be writing a case study on this group, I will anonymise everyone and anything that could identify the members of the group.
