Folk Tales in Watercolour
**Folk Tales in Watercolour - Illustration Workshop**
This month-long workshop explores **European folk stories, forest spirits, witches, and strange old myths through watercolour.** Drawing inspiration from figures like Baba Yaga and other eerie, ambiguous characters from across Europe, we’ll work with narrative, mood, and symbolism.
Across four sessions, participants will experiment with watercolour techniques suited to storytelling: **loose washes, layered textures, limited palettes and character creation.** We’ll look at how folklore can shape visual worlds—crooked houses, deep woods, animal-human figures, and half-remembered legends—and translate those ideas into expressive paintings.
Open to all levels. However, this workshop prioritises interpretation over technique, using watercolour as a tool to explore and reimagine European folk stories.
**Tuesdays 3 – 10 - 17 - 24 February** from 6:00 to 7:30 PM

Offener Deutschunterricht - Text & Konversation - Niveau B2+ (Fortgeschritten)

Shamanic Women’s Circle 💫 Cacao Ceremony, Drum Journey & Fairy Tale Magic
**Feel welcome to a warm, supportive space among women, a circle where community, mindfulness, and quiet magic can be felt.**
💫In this special gathering, we bring together the heart-opening spirit of a cacao ceremony, guided trance journeys with the drum, and the timeless wisdom of fairy tales. **Ceremonial cacao helps us soften out of the everyday and move into a deeper connection** with ourselves, our bodies, and the shared energy of the circle.
🥁 **The steady rhythm of the frame drum gently leads us on journeys into the non-ordinary reality.** These shamanic trance states allow images, insights and intuitive guidance from the spiritual dimension to emerge. The journeys are also an invitation to explore our own inner landscape in a safe, grounded and supported way.
**This women’s circle is a space for**
• Pausing and replenishing
• Heart-opening and gentle self-connection
• Guided inner journeys through drum rhythm
• Community beyond roles and expectations
• Listening, feeling, and simply being
No previous experience is needed. Come exactly as you are.
I look forward to an evening of warmth, depth, connection, inner exploration, and a touch of fairy-tale magic. ✨

The Aesthetics of Chaos
Life rarely moves in straight lines. Things fall apart, plans change, patterns break; and yet, meaning keeps finding us.
On February 7, 2026, DiscoCourse opens with "The Aesthetics of Chaos," a shared conversation on uncertainty, instability, and the unexpected beauty that emerges from them across art, systems, and our own lives.
Should we pay more attention to chaos, or resist it? Is there a deeper meaning in it, or are we simply trying to impose one?
As the night unfolds, the body joins in. The conversation moves to the dance floor, where rhythm takes over, and unpredictability is felt, not just discussed.
A shared beginning. A conversation that starts in words and continues in motion. Come think, come feel, come dance.

Find Prachtsaal Studio by crossing the courtyard next to Cafe Augusta on Jonasstr. 22, 12053 Berlin. **NOTE: NEW LOCATION!**

If you’re wondering whether your own project might fit, take a look at the [Stammtisch archive](https://creativecodeberlin.github.io/Stammtisch/) to see what others have shared in the past.
This event is *not* just for coders! New-media artists and anyone working with technology in their art are very welcome to share. If you enjoy art and/or technology, you’ll likely have a great time, and maybe even learn something new!
BEGINNERS WELCOME!

Humanist Community Celebrating Darwin Day
Dale Gnidovec, Curator of the Orton Hall Museum of Geology at The Ohio State University, will be presenting a program he has wanted to share with us for a long time: Plate Tectonics. His description of his program:
Continents on the move - Nothing in Earth history makes sense without moving continents - it tells us why mountains, volcanoes, minerals, and fossils are where they are. This talk examines the evidence for continental drift, why it was disbelieved, and explains how the more-encompassing theory of plate tectonics was developed and eventually proven. Dale is an energetic, incredibly knowledgeable, and very entertaining speaker and this will be another wonderful program by Dale. Hope to see you there!
Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk.
Going forward our meetings will be hybrid. You can meet us in-person or attend online

Contra dance with Big Scioty on Feb. 7 - First Congregational Church
**Caller: Dan Kappus**
**Band: Trillium**
**Big Scioty Contra Dance**
**temporarily returning to our long ago location for Jan-March - First Congregational Church, 444 E. Broad St., Columbus 43215**
WHAT IS CONTRA DANCING? Picture the Grand Ball scenes like you’ve seen in period films such as “Pride and Prejudice”, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. That’s English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like “swing your partner” and “do-si-do,” like you’ve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alá “Riverdance.” Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THAT’s Contra Dancing!
Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor.
Be sure to come for the beginner's lesson from 7:30 - 8:00, followed by dancing 8:00 - 10:30. All dances are taught; we will help you learn! Beginners always welcome, no need to bring a partner.
Cost is $10.00 adults, $5.00 ages 12-26. Under 12 free. Free parking in church lot.
For more information contact me or check out our website: [www.bigscioty.com](http://www.bigscioty.com/)
Please bring your own refillable water bottle. Snacks to share are always welcome!
