Es findet in Form von Einzelbegegnungen statt, bei denen sich die Kommunikation hauptsächlich auf die Körpersprache und weniger auf den verbalen Ausdruck stützt. Das Ritual kann von einem Tanz mit minimalem Körperkontakt über gemütliches Kuscheln und spielerisches Herumrollen bis hin zu energiegeladenen Kämpfen reichen, bei denen Kraft und Beweglichkeit erprobt werden. Jeder Playfight wird von den beiden beteiligten Personen bestimmt und kann jederzeit beendet werden durch ein Wort oder durch einen Doppelklopfer. It takes the form of one-on-one encounters, where communication relies mainly on body language rather than verbal expression. The ritual can range from a dance with minimal physical contact to cozy cuddling and playful rolling around, or even energetic fights that explore strength and agility. Each playfight ‘belongs’ to the two individuals engaging in it and can be ended at any time by a word or by double-tapping your partner or the floor. There will be a warm-up phase and an explanation of the rules before the actual ritual starts. **General information** Wear comfortable clothes in which you can move freely. Long trousers are advised to avoid mattress burns on your knees. Consent is about much more than a simple yes or no. When we deconstruct consent, we discover how to communicate our true desires and stop choosing the things we don’t. Through discussion, movement and partner games, we will build tools to express and negotiate physical desires and set boundaries through the use of practical exercises. This workshop is inclusive and welcoming to individuals of all body sizes, genders, and background. This is a non-sexual workshop, and great, low pressure situation in which to practice communication and touching. It’s as much about how to truly say yes and mean it as it is about saying no! Even within the queer community, there can be ageism, where older individuals are seen as less relevant or interesting. Broad St., Columbus 43215** WHAT IS CONTRA DANCING? Picture the Grand Ball scenes like you’ve seen in period films such as “Pride and Prejudice”, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. That’s English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like “swing your partner” and “do-si-do,” like you’ve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alá “Riverdance.” Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THAT’s Contra Dancing! Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor. Be sure to come for the beginner's lesson from 7:30 - 8:00, followed by dancing 8:00 - 10:30. All dances are taught; we will help you learn! Beginners always welcome, no need to bring a partner.
