Silver Tuesdays Nordic Walking in Brockwell Park
Silver Tuesdays Nordic Walking in Brockwell Park
Over the last nine years, Silverfit has been able to offer exercise to everyone over 50 in Brockwell Park. Together with Silverfit, I have done my best to keep the exercise fun for everyone, no matter if you are fit or not so fit, strong or not so strong, sporty or not so sporty. And, over all, I think we have done that pretty well! We have had some glorious years, and we made many, many friends over that time. Silverfit managed to keep it going through the good times and the hard Covid years, but unfortunately, the reality of the current economic climate is hitting Silverfit hard. Many councils and charities that have supported Silverfit over the years have stopped funding, and without funding, Silverfit just simply cannot keep going. Recently, they have had to take the hard decision to cut quite a number of their activities, and unfortunately, Nordic Walking in Brockwell park is one of the sessions that needs to be stopped. Yesterday afternoon was our last session for Silverfit. But…. I aim to keep your Tuesday walk going! So many of you love our Tuesday session, and it would just be too sad to stop completely. I would like to keep the Silver Tuesday session going under my own company, Fit and Happy Outdoors. Sadly, I cannot do this for free, as I do need to make a living. But in order to keep this session available for everyone, I plan to keep our Tuesday afternoon session at a highly reduced rate compared to my normal rates. New rates for our Silver Tuesday walks: 10 sessions for £45 (my normal rate is 10 sessions for £90). For those of you who struggle financially, I am happy to reduce this rate to £30, or even offer it for free. I can of course only do this if enough of you pay the normal rate, and I trust you will only ask for a reduction if you really need it. As I said, I do this for my living, but I don’t want money to be the reason you miss out on the benefits of Nordic Walking and spending time with our lovely group of friends. If you are already a member of Fit and Happy Outdoors and you pay monthly, then the Tuesday session is included in your fee. No extra payment is necessary (unless you’d like to sponsor someone who cannot pay) How does it work? 1) Please email me at Ailien at Fitandhappyoutdoors dot com, and let me know if you agree with me sending you an invoice for the full rate, or if you need a reduced rate. 2) I will then send you an invoice with my bank details on it. 3) Once I have received your payment in my bank account, I will hand you a 10-session card at the first session I see you 4) Every time you come walking on Tuesday, I will stamp your card 5) Once you have walked 10 times, I will send you a new invoice for the next 10. Payment: I really, really, prefer bank transfers. If you really do not do bank transfers, then you can pay me in cash. No cheques please (I really try to avoid having to go to the bank, it is just too much hassle). If you or a friend only comes once in a very blue moon, then they can pay £5 in cash for the session (only banknotes please. Help a girl out, I do enough weightlifting already 😊) Are you a walk leader? You are always welcome and do not have to pay me. I am grateful for your help! Do we still need to sign up? 1) Have your own poles? No need to sign up. But, if there is a weather warning, please check in with me as I might have to cancel and if I don’t know you are planning to come, I might not be able to tell you it’s cancelled 2) Happy to use the Meetup app, then sign up for your walk here? If you sign in, I will know you are planning to come, and it will be easy for me to let you know if I do need to cancel a session. 3) Need to borrow poles from me? Please text me ON THE DAY OF THE WALK to ask me to bring a set. My number is 078 078 3456 4. Just use normal text, no Whatsapp please, as I will probably miss your message. Any questions? Feel free to reply to this email, or text me on the number above.

Explore Baja California!
Explore Baja California!
**The Plan:** Do you fancy trying something new, something different, something with a bit of adventure? Join us for a truly incredible week exploring the coastline of Baja California Sur, Mexico. The coastline is pristine and stunning, with Pelcans diving in around the boat and incredible sea life, this is sure to be a great experience not to be forgotten! This trip is open to seasoned sailors and beginners alike, no experience is necessary however, we will be staying in some remote areas, there wont be any crowded bars, or nights at town quays, and we will be catering for ourselves onboard the yacht most evenings during the week. This is a chance to escape the rush of modern life, experience the natural beauty of Mexico and the freedom you can only get from a week on a yacht! **When:** 3pm 7th February to – 9am 14th February 2026. (Its advised to arrive in Mexico at least a day before the trip to recover from jetlag). **Where:** We will start and end the trip in La Paz and visit some fantastic bays and islands on the way including Isla San Jose, Isla Espiritu Santo and San Evaristo. **The yacht:** A 50’ catamaran with all mod cons, spacious accommodation, 4 bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen with drinks fridge and a lot of sunbathing space on deck! The yacht is licenced in accordance with Mexican laws and fully equipped with all necessary safety equipment and navigational aids. The yacht has space for 12 people on-board, we never expect anyone to be sleeping in the saloon. **Event Organiser/skippers:** This trip is organised and skippered by Mike Johns/Sailscape and Paul Ryan/Seascape. Both Mike and Paul are commercially endorsed RYA Yachtmasters Offshore with many years’ experience. **Accommodation:** Accommodation will be in *shared double or twin cabins*. I often get asked if cabins are available for sole occupancy and, of course that’s fine, however I can only accommodate this if you agree to cover the full charter cost of the other space in the cabin. **Cost:** £1800 per person (in a shared cabin) or £3500/cabin To be paid as 2 instalments ***Deposit*** : £900 due to confirm your place ***Balance :*** £900 due 1st November 2025 The cost includes basic charter and insurance costs of the yacht, end cleaning, towels, bed linen, dinghy and cooking gas. Breakfasts and lunches aboard every day are included in the price along with 5 evening meals with beers, wine and soft drinks are all included in the price. **Extras:** Additional costs to consider are flights, transfers, any pre trip accommodation ashore and any restaurant/bar bills at the start and end of the trip. Flights: approx. £950 return depending on the exact date/time of travel. Mexico City airport is the closest international airport and you can get onward flights to La Paz. JON's40th BIRTHDAY HIKE: Nutbourne to Bosham : New hike alert!
JON's40th BIRTHDAY HIKE: Nutbourne to Bosham : New hike alert!
Psssssst, the secret is out! The event of the year! Mama Jon is turning 40! WHAAAAAAT?! I know, I know, I look like I am late 20th at most, what can I say? Some people are just pretty :) So what else can I do to celebrate my birthday? Well, a new wintry hike of course, in the company of my favourite humans, the Jonions. You do not need to know me to join, so come and have fun with us! I first discovered this hike by accident, I was on a trip to a nearby semi-island that had been closed due to a collapsed bridge, well luckily for us, I decided to check out this new place and what a delight it was! So pretty that I have decided to finally put it up for my lovely Jonions to discover... The hike isn't difficult, it is Sunday after all so I have chosen hill free and by the sea. We will walk about 10 miles in and around the Chichester Harbour Estuary surrounded by water, trees and pretty villages in this area of natural outstanding beauty. The village of Bosham is particularly beautiful and we will have quite some views of it from across the estuary, that place is a hidden treasure that has kept its middle ages vibe. Once an important place, history remembers it in the famous Bayeux tapestry. [Bosham - Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bosham) Most of the hike will be along the estuary and should offer some gorgeous view of Britain's most important natural harbour and is part of the famous Solent Way in West Sussex. Evidently afterwards, we are likely to make our way to a restaurant or pub for some tasty food before we head back to good old London. We can celebrate my birthday together or you can just hop back on the train earlier if you are too tired but this hike will not be exhausting, you will burn some calories without too much efforts. INFORMATION: COST: £17 via PayPal for the guide's fee About £28 in cash for the train, we will have a 35% discount with a group saver if we buy our train tickets together and will get an off peak day return meaning that we do not actually pay for the return journey. INCLUDED: Guided trip The photographs that I will have taken on the day and that I will share on the WhatsApp group. A great time with lovely people NOT INCLUDED: Train Anything not mentioned above WHAT TO BRING: Waterproof shoes for the hike, preferably hiking shoes, otherwise good trainers; Weather appropriate clothes, including waterproofs if there is a chance of rain; Water bottle; Packed lunch and snacks. MEETING POINT: London Waterloo at 08:30 am, just by the clock in the main hall of the train station, NOT the tube station. ATTENTION: Our trips will not be cancelled due to weather conditions so please ensure that you do wear and carry appropriate clothing. 😄 POLICIES: 1: This group is designed for the pleasure and enjoyment of all of us, we do not accept any derogatory comments or behaviours towards anyone. By signing up to my events, you agree to this and these conditions.
