Social Event: Our walks are social walks, where the emphasis is on meeting new people, enjoying nature, healthy exercise, and fresh air. Our walks are not interrupted with running commentaries or historical lectures, although occasionally features of significance may be pointed out. As such our walks will be continuous with few stops and it is your responsibilty to keep walkers ahead in view and to follow the direction of the walk. RISKS for all walks: Please dress appropriately for weather conditions and carry a bottle of water and necessary medication. You need to be moderately fit for this walk and be able to walk for four miles without a break. In these walks we use; pavements, cross busy roads, public parkland, towpaths alongside water, other public paths, rights of way, bridlepaths, country lanes and other established paths and tracks through woodland, bush and countryside. Please only wear good sturdy shoes, preferably walking boots and take care as surfaces may be uneven, tree roots may protrude, there may be low overhanging branches and some paths are also used by joggers and cyclists and sometimes cars (country lanes). Some tracks may be muddy and slippery. On occasion wild,domestic and farm animals may also encountered. If you require insurance for these walks then you must arrange this yourself. No large dogs or small children please. Please arrive in good time to allow opportunity to use toilets at the start of the walk as there may not be any toilet breaks available during the walk. Shout if you’ve got any questions—it would be lovely to see some familiar faces! ################# Join us for a very special trip as we head to Dorset to discover the dramatic and famous Jurassic Coast UNESCO World Heritage coastline! Stretching 95 miles between Old Harry Rocks and Orcombe Point, the Jurassic Coast – England’s first Natural UNESCO World Heritage Site – is the most geologically diverse coastline in the world. The exposed cliff sections allow us to look back across 185 million years; dinosaur remains have been found here, and it’s a fossil-hunter’s paradise. On this magnificent coastal hike, we'll visit the iconic natural limestone arch of Durdle Door and the famous scallop-shaped Lulworth Cove with its white pebble beach and crystal clear waters. On our way, we'll see many lovely bays and beaches and enjoy excellent views of the Isle of Portland, which was host of the sailing events of the 2012 Olympics. Most of the route follows the cliff-top trail, with stunning panoramic views of sweeping bays, folded cliffs and the sea. There will be a few steep ascents and descents, but all of your efforts will be well rewarded by the jaw-dropping beauty around you! We have kept the distance shorter (5 miles / 8 kilometres) to have the difficulty of this trail on the Easy/Moderate border. We'll walk at a slower pace and take many breaks on the uphill sections, as needed. This trip is therefore suitable for all reasonably fit BEGINNERS – a great way to experience hiking before joining our more difficult hikes! 🤩 DISTANCE & DIFFICULTY Distance: 5 miles (8km). Ascent: 350m. Difficulty: Easy/Moderate. The event takes the form of a social gathering/mixer with introductions in the earlier part of the evening . The DJ will be playing music on deck where we can dance til 11 pm and after that we can continue with more dancing in the clubroom downstairs til 2 am . I have a table reserved on deck (usually this is the first table on your right as you walk down the ramp onto the boat , but if you can't find me please ask a member of staff .) . Spend your Sunday exploring one of Kent’s most scenic and historic countryside routes, featuring medieval castle ruins, ancient Roman history, hidden woodland trails, and one of the South East’s most impressive Victorian viaducts. Our hikes offer easy, hassle-free weekend plans, a chance to make new friends, and time to properly switch off in nature - without needing to organise anything yourself. **Logistics** 📍 Start/End point: London Blackfriars train station 🗓 When: Sunday, 28 June - meeting at 8:40AM, leaving at 9:00AM for the 9:13AM train. We’ll begin in the picturesque village of Eynsford, home to the ruins of Eynsford Castle, one of the earliest Norman stone castles in England. From there, we’ll follow riverside trails and woodland paths toward the beautiful Lullingstone castle. Along the way, we’ll explore: * The ruins of Eynsford Castle * The remains of a Roman villa dating back nearly 2,000 years * Lullingstone Castle (entrance fee not included) * The dramatic Lullingstone Viaduct viewpoint * Woodland trails, rolling hills, and quiet countryside paths * Riverside scenery and open valley views Expect a mixture of hidden trails, scenic viewpoints, ancient history, and classic Kent countryside.
