Blue Lotus Ceremony Transition into the Second Half of Life We invite you to an evening ceremony for women who are tired of constant rushing, endless analysis of the past, and searching for reasons for what is happening outside of themselves. Sometimes, to feel at peace with yourself and experience satisfaction with life, all it takes is a few quiet minutes alone with your feelings. Our Lotus Ceremony is a deep transformative space created to help you slow down, return your attention to yourself, and hear what is usually drowned out by the noise of everyday life. During the ceremony we will work with attention, breathing, and inner observation. The blue lotus infusion helps relax the body and gently deepen a state of presence. A guided meditation will allow you to step out of the usual stream of thoughts and meet your feelings without analysis or the need to fix anything. The sound of singing bowls supports concentration and creates an atmosphere where it is easier to stay connected with yourself. This is a space where you can simply be, listen, and allow clarity to emerge naturally. **🏛️ WHAT'S PRACTICAL PHILOSOPHY ABOUT?** Practical Philosophy is a weekly meet-up that brings critical thinkers together for an opportunity to dive deep on a topic, practice communicating, and building a community. All with no ‘official’ philosophy knowledge required! 😎 Practical Philosophy is based on the idea that philosophy should be accessible to all, and not something reserved only for academics. Each week we choose a topic, and the goal is to use the conversation to develop our critical thinking and communication as we explore that topic. The goal is to help develop our Critical Thinking, Communication, and Community 🙌 **📓 HOW DOES IT WORK?** Each week, we pick one topic and discuss it. The topic for the week is shared, generally in the [Whatsapp group](https://chat.whatsapp.com/CRqdyO6p6lZDIN2qVRIlWX), along with jump-off points to get the conversation going. When groups get bigger than 7-8 people, it’s important that we break into smaller groups. This way we are able to maintain a conversational flow as opposed to having our meetups feel like a discourse or lecture. **General Meeting Agenda** Each Practical Philosophy meet-up follows this general timeline: * 19:00-19:15 - People arrive and chat, get to know each other before the ‘official' start. * 19:15-19:25 - Meeting introduction, explanation of Practical Philosophy and the topic for the week, read the guidelines and the overview so attendees know what to expect in terms of timelines. * 19:25-20:45 - Break into small groups - introduce yourselves and general thoughts on the topic, open discussion afterwards. At this point the group can review the ‘jump-off’ questions as needed, but they are just there to help guide the conversation. It’s not obligatory to answer them. * 20:45-21:00 - Bring everyone back together to discuss conclusions of the topic - each group gives a short 1-minute summary. What happens when the mind becomes quiet enough to reveal something deeper? In this session we explore meditation not just as a technique, but as an experience. When the usual mental activity slows down, many people discover a surprising sense of clarity, stillness, and awareness that feels very different from ordinary thinking. This evening is designed to let you explore that shift directly. Rather than focusing on theory, the emphasis is on experiencing what becomes possible when attention turns inward and the mind settles. If you are curious about what meditation can reveal beyond relaxation or concentration, this session invites you to explore it for yourself. Come with curiosity — the experience will speak for itself. After the event, authentic oriental cuisine will be served free of charge for up to 10 participants. Participants are invited to stay, enjoy dinner, and continue the conversation in a relaxed atmosphere. Please sign up only if you plan to attend. We organize the event and prepare dinner based on the number of participants. If you are unable to come, please cancel your registration as soon as possible so someone else can sign up. Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, résumé, melody, poem, or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done. SCHEDULE: - 15 minutes of hellos and getting settled; maybe some quick intros. - Then, the timer starts! : writing for 1 hour. - After the hour is up... chat / take off / keep writing, if you're on a roll. OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens once the hour of writing is complete. Writing can be very solitary... connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing. Why are we unhappy? Where does emotional pain come from? Studies show that people who suffer from long-term emotional pain have painful experiences in their lives that were never fully resolved in their mind. In other words, there were issues in the past that were not completely dealt with. This can include abuse in childhood, breakups, divorce, death of a loved one, to name a few. How do you know whether you have gotten over something painful? Here is an easy test: Do you still have attention on what had happened to you? For instance, do you still find yourself thinking about something painful that you went through? If you are, then you are not over it. In fact, in severe cases, people find themselves playing a "tape" in their mind over and over again. So how do you heal from your past? How do you stop the "tape" playing in your mind?
