Dear friends, On Heustadelwasser in the Prater wetlands we can see various birds in the water. Such as mallards, mandarin ducks, goosanders and herons and lots of them are in the pairing season. On both sides of the water we can see lots of birds on the high trees. like woodpeckers, nuthatches, mistle trushes, jays and different tits. Bei der "Matching Night'' triffst du bis zu 250 Singles in Wien in einer entspannten Bar-Atmosphäre. Anhand farbiger Armbänder, die die Teilnehmer:innen nach einem kurzen Persönlichkeitstest erhalten, kannst du sofort sehen, wer am besten zu dir passt und warum. Um den Gesprächseinstieg mit anderen Singles so einfach wie möglich zu gestalten, wurde das international bekannte "Lock & Key"-Eisbrecher-Element beim Event eingeführt. Hey Badminton Enthusiasts! **This meet-up is only for intermediate players and up!** Everyone is welcome to join our large weekly events, test their skills and have some fun together! However, ***this event is for the people that want to push their skill forward and would like to play during the week as well.*** The host will reserve courts in advance, that means please only register if you really plan to come (or cancel at least 24 hours before the event starts). The fee for this event is 12€: * If you plan on paying in cash, please bring the exact amount as the host might not have any change available * you can also pay via card on the spot We are meeting at about 18.55 pm near the reception by the lounge area (next to the courts). Come a bit earlier so you have time to change into workout/sports clothes. The locker rooms are free to use, but for the men lockers you need a padlock - or you can also take your bag of clothes upstairs to the courts if you do not have a padlock. Also, bring clean indoor sports shoes, your racket and a water bottle with you. If you are just passing through town and do not have a racket, it is possible to rent rackets, either from the club or from us. Sometimes the host or other members have spare rackets - please ask in the comment section below! **Spring Kickoff Ride:** Let’s welcome the new season with a friendly, no-pressure group ride for all levels. We’ll begin with a quick intro, then roll out on a scenic, completly flat route—perfect for easing back in after the winter. **Donauinsel upstream (south bank):** From the starting point, we cycle onto the Donauinsel and follow the cycle path upstream in a westerly direction. The route leads along the south bank of the Donauinsel, which is characterized by its quiet and green surroundings. Here we can enjoy nature as we cycle parallel to the Neue Donau. **West end of the Donauinsel (Langenzersdorf):** After about 10 kilometers, we reach the western end of the Donauinsel, which is located near Langenzersdorf. Here we take a short break of a few minutes, enjoy the view of the Danube and fortify ourselves for the return journey. **Return via the north bank:** For the return journey, we switch to the north bank of the Donauinsel. The cycle path takes us back downstream towards Kaisermühlen. This route offers a different perspective of the Danube and the surrounding landscape. **Arrival at the starting point:** After a total of around 20 kilometers, we arrive back at the starting point at the "Fahrradverleih Copa Beach". **Lunch afterwards:** If we are in the mood for it we can have dinner together at the greek restaurant "Rembetiko" https://www.rembetiko.at/restaurants/donauinsel nearby the meeting point afterwards. **Tour highlights:** * The idyllic nature of the Donauinsel with its extensive green spaces. * The view of the Danube and the surrounding countryside. * A relaxed and well-maintained cycle route that is ideal for leisure cyclists. * Lunch at a greek restaurant. Picture the Grand Ball scenes like you’ve seen in period films such as “Pride and Prejudice”, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. That’s English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like “swing your partner” and “do-si-do,” like you’ve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alá “Riverdance.” Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THAT’s Contra Dancing! Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor. Be sure to come for the beginner's lesson from 1:30 - 2:00, followed by dancing 2:00 - 430. All dances are taught; we will help you learn! Beginners always welcome, no need to bring a partner. So this month's prompt is more general. I think we can all agree that we are living in "unique" times that require coping skills. I think that one role and/or purpose of philosophy is to help us deal with our daily lives and our "unique" times. So, let's share our feelings and thoughts about which philosopher/philosophy we turn to in order to deal with our crazy events. Who/what helps you stay focused in your daily life and helps you sleep at night. I find that Stoicism with a little philosophical pessimism mixed in goes a long way in helping me deal with what I see as very destructive, fearful and mean spirited public policies at both the state and federal levels.
