Social Film Club – 30th Edition
A Branch of the **Social Book Club** focusing on International Cinema. I find films based on the taste profile of the cinephiles that regularly attend.
We the Lovely Folks of the **Social Film Club, are back for the 30th Edition** this Saturday! 🎬🌿🕊️
☀️ We start at **18:30** hrs.
Films chosen for this week are:
🎥 **Either one of these two** 🎥**slow, dreamlike masterpieces** — we'll decide together:
**1\. The Spirit of the Beehive \(1973\)** A haunting Spanish film seen through the eyes of a young girl after the Civil War. Childhood, silence, and imagination — sparked by a screening of Frankenstein. Mysterious and quietly devastating. IMDb: 7.8/10 – Runtime: 1h 39m.
OR
**2\. Mirror \(1975\)** Tarkovsky's personal collage of memory, dreams, and Russian history. Childhood, war, and time — drifting between past and present. Non-linear and visually overwhelming. IMDb: 8.0/10 – Runtime: 1h 47m.
🍽️ Post Meetup Food at **China Zentrum Stiegengasse!** 😁😁
If you just joined, please fill up this survey so we can better tailor the films we show. [https://forms.gle/juPwhehSV2NosLee9](https://forms.gle/juPwhehSV2NosLee9)
**PS -** I can guarantee comfortable seating for 10 people. People in the waitlist can show up as well, because a lot of people sign up but don't show up.
The event takes place at the Social Welfare organization called **MUT**. It is an organisation that works on social issues such as Emergency & Homeless Assistance, Food Rescue and Environment Protection. MUT is a non profit organization that provides us with the space to host the event. A small donation towards their cause helps them a lot.
Portrait Photography Workshop with a model
This time we’ll meet in Stadtpark for a portrait session / workshop, with plenty of time to experiment and work in different light situations.
It’s a great opportunity to practise working with natural light outdoors, work with a model, and also get a few portraits for yourself.
We’ll start with simpler portrait setups and then move into more creative and experimental directions as we go.
Each person will have time to photograph the model but can also practice on the side, try different approaches, and also jump in for quick portraits in between. The idea is that we rotate setups a few times and explore how light, background, and small changes in direction affect the image.
We’ll have a model with us throughout the session.
Donation fee: 5€
Feel free to bring snacks and drinks — it’s a relaxed, open session.

Badminton Training for Beginners (10.00h-11.00h) Raketworld U3 Kendlerstraße
**Would you like to learn badminton and finally hit the shuttle properly?**
Our beginner training is exactly what you’re looking for!
In small groups of up to 4 people, you will learn the basics step by step:
* proper footwork
* your first shots to simple game situations
* how to serve properly
* the game rules
* and much, much more!
**The fee for this training is 16€ and includes the trainer, the shuttles and the court booking for one hour.**
Here are the steps to participate in the training:
1. register in the event (here)
2. pay in advance the registration fee **by Friday evening before the training using this link**: https://pay.sumup.com/b2c/Q2PKK0L1
We cannot cancel the course in the last 24 hours, so we have to pay the instructor and the courts even if you don't come. If by Friday end of day you are still registered in the event, you acknowledge that you will pay the participaton fee.
*Recommendation:* Since you learn and build knowledge together as a group, **attending at least 4 consecutive sessions is ideal**. This way, you can grow as a team, benefit from each other, and make faster progress.
**Who is this training for?** Anyone with little or no prior experience, but a willingness to learn how to properly play badminton!
The training is done in both German and English.
Come a bit earlier so you have time to change into workout/sports clothes. The locker rooms are free to use, but for the men lockers you need a padlock - or you can also take your bag of clothes upstairs to the courts if you do not have a padlock. Also, please bring:
* clean indoor sports shoes (no black soles)
* your racket or you can rent one from the club, if necessary (4€)
* and a water bottle
**After the training**, we are hosting our weekly Badminton Sunday event. You can use the opportunity to train and practice the skills you learned (separate event registration required in advance!).
If you are joining our events for the first time, WELCOME! Let the host know that you are new and they will tell you the basic need-to-knows of our community!
Without further ado - let's learn how to play badminton and have some fun together!
ADVANCED badminton players wanted!
Thank you for visiting this event page!
* Are you an advanced badminton player? If yes - WELCOME!
* The earlier you sign up, the bigger your chance to reserve a place - once 10 players have signed up already, you move to the waiting list.
* Once the waiting list has 3 or more members, I will try to book an additional court, but no guarantees.
I need to close the registration 24h before the event as I will then have to decide whether to cancel any court due to a shortage of players.
The fee per player will be €10.00 for 2 hours. This will also cover the feather shuttles used during play.
Please be on time as a curtesy to the other players. In addition, if you are on the players' list and don't come (i.e. no show), you will be automatically excluded from this group.
Bringing your house plants outside so they can meet other house plants
Imagine being a house plant and having to stay in the same shitty room all your life. You only get a glimpse of the outdoors through the window and you constantly have to watch your friends die, because some dude/lady wasn't able to stick to a simple watering schedule.
If you want to bring some excitement into your house plant's otherwise bleak life, this event is for you! Your plant will have a chance to meet other house plants, make plant friends, and maybe even win some prizes.
**What to bring:**
\- One of your house plants
**What we'll do:**
\- Stuff
**Where we'll do:**
\- Check the location of the event again before you leave\. It's set for Grillplatz 8 at Donauinsel for now\. If it's taken already\, we'll be somewhere in that area\.
