Heyho and welcome to our cozy Science Fiction Circle which is part of the Social Book Club! We meet every month to discuss one book (or short story).
This time we read **"A half-built garden" (2022)**, an eco-utopian first-contact novel by the US-American writer **Ruthanna Emrys**.
We meet at IKEA Westbahnhof in the JOE&JOE hostel in the 5th floor. Drinks and some food can be bought there.
Shut Up & Write!Ā® Saturday mornings @ Cafe AuĆergewƶhnlich
Join us for some focused writing time. All writers and all experience levels are welcome and donāt worry, no one will see what you've written. Whether itās your blog, a report, your thesis, your next book, copy for your website, or just your daily journaling, it doesnāt matter. This session is about getting your writing done and meeting other writers in your area.
When you show up, say hello to everyone, grab a drink, and get your writing tools ready. Once youāre all settled, take some time to chat with your fellow writers. Once everyoneās arrived, I will lead quick introductions and then set the timer for our quiet and focused writing session.
Afterward, weāll have time to chat and get to know each other. We often talk about our successes and challenges as writers. If you donāt have time to stick around, no worries!
Schedule (tentative):
9:00 - 9:15: Arrive, set up, order some coffee, short introductions.
9:15 - 10:45: Timer starts. Time to write.
10:45 - 11:00: End. Short exchange, settle your bill, takeoff.
Optional: Sometimes some of us choose to stay for a second round. Great for when youāre on a roll and have time.
**A note about the format**
We donāt host critiques or readings. These events are a safe space for writers of all skill levels and genres to work on their craft, so no one will read or critique your writing.

Social Film Club ā 30th Edition
A Branch of the **Social Book Club** focusing on International Cinema. I find films based on the taste profile of the cinephiles that regularly attend.
We the Lovely Folks of the **Social Film Club, are back for the 30th Edition** this Saturday! š¬šæšļø
āļø We start at **18:30** hrs.
Films chosen for this week are:
š„ **Either one of these two** š„**slow, dreamlike masterpieces** ā we'll decide together:
**1\. The Spirit of the Beehive \(1973\)** A haunting Spanish film seen through the eyes of a young girl after the Civil War. Childhood, silence, and imagination ā sparked by a screening of Frankenstein. Mysterious and quietly devastating. IMDb: 7.8/10 ā Runtime: 1h 39m.
OR
**2\. Mirror \(1975\)** Tarkovsky's personal collage of memory, dreams, and Russian history. Childhood, war, and time ā drifting between past and present. Non-linear and visually overwhelming. IMDb: 8.0/10 ā Runtime: 1h 47m.
š½ļø Post Meetup Food at **China Zentrum Stiegengasse!** šš
If you just joined, please fill up this survey so we can better tailor the films we show. [https://forms.gle/juPwhehSV2NosLee9](https://forms.gle/juPwhehSV2NosLee9)
**PS -** I can guarantee comfortable seating for 10 people. People in the waitlist can show up as well, because a lot of people sign up but don't show up.
The event takes place at the Social Welfare organization called **MUT**. Run+B-fast
Hi Running fellows,
Whether youāre a walker, new to running, a semi-pro, a marathonist or a sprint star - if you want to start your weekend in an active way and enjoy the outdoors in lovely surroundings with a fun, international and multilingual group of people, you are welcome to join us!
Every Saturday at 9:30 am, we meet, we run, in the magnificent Schƶnbrunn park, and then we go for breakfast.
Want to discuss politics or the best recipes for banana pancakes? Not a problem. Not feeling social? Tune out with your earbuds - we can talk over breakfast. We are casual. You can be too.
What to expect: Start by meeting Adrian, Ali, Liz, Paul and Sonia on-time at 9:30am outside the Schƶnbrunn U-Bahn stop (exit GrünbergstraĆe). (Coordinates: 48.1858130, 16.3200640) From there, we walk to the side park entrance where the ārunningā part begins. The important thing is that you run at your own pace. Typically, small groups of people will run at the same pace as you, so you never have to walk/run alone :)
We finish one hour later, at about 10:40am, reconvening just inside the Hietzinger Tor exit. (Coordinates: 48.1858825, 16.3032647). From there, weāre off to breakfast!
Breakfast Details: Anker bakery opposite the U4 Hietzing station and depending on the weather, grab something for a picnic in Schƶnbrunn park, or hang out in the bakery. If you missed us earlier, you can always go there around 10:45.
We are a fun group of runners who donāt take things too seriously. We meet, chat, RUN, stretch, chat, EAT and we hang out over a beer every now and then. It's that easy. Please join us for breakfast after the run! The more the merrier.
Typically we are 10-30 people, as not everyone who comes signs up on meetup.
Important disclaimer: Please only run as much as you feel you can, considering the temperature, weather conditions, your own fitness etc... run and walk at your own pace as the organizers do not assume any liability for any injuries or health issues. Sonia, Adrian, Ali, Paul and Liz
