Come along to the Ping Pong Social at Bounce Shoreditch to unwind, meet likeminded people and of course show off your whiff whaff skills! This event is crafted to serve both serious Table Tennis players with lots of challenges & tournaments, as well as the social players with tailor made games for singles, couples, colleagues & friends. Come with Tim on a further exploration of Smithfield walking in the footsteps of the great C18 painter and engraver William Hogarth. He has been called the father of English Art as he developed a style uniquely English, in fact, uniquely London. It was a reflection of the violence, hypocrisy, squalor and vitality of the streets of London. From humble beginnings he became wealthy and famous but fashions moved on and he never became part of the art establishment. We will see where he was born, where he worked and where he rose to fame. We’ll aim to visit 3 great historical institutions which he knew well: The St. John’s Hospitallers gatehouse where he and his father once worked Greater St Bartholomew’s church (used in four weddings and a funeral) which was once his parish church And the one you probably haven’t seen before: the Great Hall of St Bartholomew’s hospital including its Hogarth Mural, recently restored to its former glory. A chance to try a flying lesson! Feel the adrenaline rush as you take the controls of a light aircraft and soar across the sky above the English countryside while learning what it’s like to actually pilot a plane with this 30 Minute Flying Lesson in a Cessna airplane. You will have a 30-minute Flying lesson with an instructor, overall your individual session will be an hour as you get prepared and chat to your pilot before. We have booked for 10 lessons on the day and may be able to take a couple more based on availability. Time slots will be give out closer to the time, but overall we plan to head down together, and can get train/taxi to the venue. **About the Lesson** You’ll receive one-to-one tuition from a Civil Aviation Authority-licensed instructor, meaning you’ll have expert guidance in getting to grips with the controls during every moment in the air. You’ll have unbeatable views across the surrounding area, but we don’t blame you if you want to stay focussed on the world ahead of your windscreen as you’re thousands of feet above the ground! What you’ll learn will depend on your chosen location, but all of your flying time will still count towards a Private Pilot’s Licence should you be a budding flying hobbyist and planning to take to the skies again. Exhilarating, awe-inspiring and breath-taking all at once, this is an experience you’ll want to try again as soon as it’s over! **On the day** Your flying lesson starts with a pre-flight briefing from your qualified instructor. This will cover safety, and an introduction to some of the controls. Once in the plane, you are given headphones so that you can hear conversations between your instructor and air traffic control. You will also be able to communicate with each other so you can be guided through your first lesson.
