**The Talbot Room at the George Inn** The George provides the room free of charge (they are awesome), and we encourage you to purchase drinks (and food – the burgers are great!). As it’s a pub and not a picnic area, please don’t consume your own food and drink there. We usually meet in the Talbot room which is on the top floor on the left hand side of the pub as viewed from the courtyard. If lost please send a message here shortly before the meeting starts. **We are sorry to say that there is no step-free access to the Talbot room, and it is at the end of three flights of stairs.** **Format** We start at 7pm and run until 9pm. We hear approximately six readings of 10 minutes (\~2000 words), then discuss the piece for 10 minutes. Email your work to: london60transmitter@emailitin.com as an attachment (It must be an attachment). A link for access to googledocs will be given at the start of each session to enable people to read along, which in turn enables more considered feedback. Work submitted will be automatically deleted after 10 days. We decide on readers/pieces at the beginning of each session. **Safe and respectful space** The group is run by volunteers, and we don’t have the capacity to read submitted work in advance. If there is anything in your work that might distress or disturb some readers, for example concerning any kind of abuse, please give a trigger warning before you read. Be specific and concise. If it becomes apparent during a reading that a piece is inappropriate, the moderator will stop the reading. In discussing others’ work, please be mindful of how you express yourself and do not use discriminatory language, even if such language features in the piece.

As part of their annual open day, the Marx Memorial Library will be opening it's doors to free May Day feature tours; visit the room where Lenin worked in exile 1902-1903 and have a peek at their displays including the International Brigade British Battalion banner. Whilst the event will start from 11 we will be there from 1 for a tour of the exhibits following the key note speeches. Accessibility: MML's Grade-II listed, 18th century building currently has no lift and has various other issues with accessibility, including no step-free toilets. HI EVERYONE, COST AND INFO BELOW.. 6.5 mile enchanting Bank Holiday Monday's afternoon's walk amongst the beautiful canals of Little Venice and find out some brief local history along the way. The walk includes the famous 'Abbey Road', one of the most famous music album covers in the World, the crossing that The Beatles walked across, which we will now walk across for your personal photoshoot! There will be music from the Human Jukebox (me!) where some of the most famous songs and movie soundtracks in the World were recorded in the area and I will show you where they were recorded. You will also see the exteriors of Paul McCartney's home, Abbey Road Studios where the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Lady Ga Ga and hundreds more musicians recorded, Maida Vale Studios where Led Zeppelin, Lice3 Lounge, John Peel Sessions and hundreds more recorded RAK Studios, where The Smiths, The Jam, Hot Chocolate, Michael Jackson, David Bowie, Al Green recorded and more recently, Adele, Plan B, Arctic Monkeys and Shakira, Lord's Cricket Ground. Walk along some of the beautiful Regent's Canal including Little Venice, a gorgeous garden centre, the birthplace of Alan Turing, an incredible historic pub and some hidden gems! Meet outside the front of Edgware Road Station (By Nero Express and opposite Chapel Street) Circle, District, Hammersmith and City Line Please note: This is by Circle, District and Hammersmith and City line not Bakerloo Line entrance. The Hot Choc Mob is a group of volunteers who believe a small act of kindness can mean a lot to someone sleeping rough or living through a tough time. We’re not a charity or religious group—just people who care and want to make a difference in our city. You don’t need any experience to join us. You’ll be welcomed by our walk leader and introduced to the group. From there, we’ll spend about an hour sharing hot chocolate, food, clothing, and friendly conversation with people who need it most. Afterwards, if you’d like to stay, we’ll regroup at a local pub to share stories and get to know each other. We are based at the Bridge Tap at London Bridge. Come and join us for our monthly social. It is important to note that the group will have an area reserved. We will reserve a corner sofa area so should be easy to locate on the night. We will also have meetup signs as well. The staff will also be aware of our group so by all means ask on arrival. You will be able to spot us as you walk into the pub. As a result of the group having increased in size and the large number of divers attending the social evenings we have changed venue so we have more space and so that we can have an outside area during the warmer summer months. They also have a great variety of good quality wines and food as well. LET'S PLAY: ZARNITSA Sports Megagame [It's like Russian Capture the Flag]
**Join LCC Sunday, March 8th at the Hackney Marshes playing field as we make another attempt at playing the Soviet Union's very own *Zarnitsa,* a capture-the-flag alternative with a small twist.** **WHAT IS ZARNITSA?** Zarnitsa (Зарница), or heat-lightning, officially known as the All-Union Young Pioneer military sports game "Zarnitsa", is a massive multi-player physical sports game developed and practiced by the Young Pioneers communist youth organisation during the Soviet era. The game provides a simulation of military actions such as reconnaissance, co-ordinated offensives, giving chase, etc. Popular once again in modern Russia, this is a simple game designed for children and young people in military/cadet organisations, but great fun for active people of all ages. The rules of Zarnitsa are based on the classic capture the flag concept. Two teams each have a "base area" with a flag contained within, concealed or otherwise. Each team's goal is to protect their own flag and seize the other team's and bring it back to the base area. Players can walk, run, sneak, hide, create diversions and use any means short of physical violence to achieve their objectives. What makes Zarnitsa different from classic CTF is simply this: every player has two velcro-attached shoulder straps that serve as health indicators and can be torn off by the opponents. Losing one indicates "wounded", losing two indicates "dead". The "wounded" players cannot run and should only walk. The "dead" players return to a respawn point or leave the game in some modes. Why are we doing this? Capture the flag is simply top fun and anyone who says otherwise is joking themselves. Zarnitsa's slightly elevated level of complexity should give us just that extra challenge needed to really make it interesting. That said, this is our first go with organising multiplayer sports games, so we'll see what the results are! As always comments, questions, suggestions and concerns are more than welcome - just contact an organiser. Sports games are a great way to get and stay active, meet new people, and break the monotony of everyday life under British capitalism. Let's get out there! For our first attempt at organising a little Zarnitsa league here in London, we'll hit up Hackney Marshes and Wick Woodland. We'll divide into two teams; each will receive coloured vests or other garments to which the health indicator strips are attached. Then we'll take up our places, count down from 60 seconds, and let the games begin! **Note: we'll want at least five people per team for this to really work right, so we'll cancel or reschedule if this one gets less than 9 RSVPs.** There's no limit to how big our group can be of course, so please do join us! Just be sure to either turn up on the day or change your RSVP if you can't make it in the end, just so we know what to expect. Take care and see you on the pitch!

This group is dedicated to sharing kindness, resources, and support with individuals who may be experiencing difficult circumstances. Anyone with a heart for service is welcome to join us as we work together to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Community members are also invited to contribute by bringing helpful items for those in need. Donations of items can be contributed at the meeting and will be distributed to assist members of the homeless community. Join us as we get together to get together to help those in need at this CMG Gives Back event! We have a great little community of Movie Group friends so rather than see a movie this time, we’ll help “create a better world” by helping serve those in need. Here are complete details and our plan for this event: FAITH MISSION – GRANT KITCHEN: The Faith Mission kitchen and dining room serves residents 3 meals a day, every day of the year. For this event, our group will help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents in the dining room, wash dishes, and clean surfaces. PLAN: We will be preparing / serving / cleaning for BRUNCH from 10:30am to 12:30pm and have space for a total of 7 volunteers. Please arrive at 10:20am and wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. LOCATION: Faith Mission – Grant Kitchen is located at 245 N. Grant Ave. Enter the kitchen at Dock 1 (in the back of the building), indicated in the attached map. On-site parking in the adjacent lot and street parking is available in the surrounding area. Below are some links / attachments with additional info/details: IMPORTANT REMINDER: Our group will be providing all of the volunteers on this day so a firm RSVP count is essential. Please only sign up if you are certain you’ll be able to attend. If something unavoidable comes up, please try to update your RSVP no later than one week prior to the event. With few exceptions, no shows or cancelations within 1 week of the event will not be eligible for future CMG Gives Back events.
