Calling Diaspora - Solar Charging Units in Africa and Asia
Calling Diaspora - Solar Charging Units in Africa and Asia
**Topic:** Solar Charging Units and the future of Distributed AI Data. Across many communities in Africa and Asia, people still struggle with reliable access to electricity for basic phone charging. A dead phone can mean no payments, no business calls, no school access, no family contact, and lost daily income. Naijacharge is building a practical solution: solar charging units deployed with local SMEs, allowing communities to charge phones using clean solar power while helping small business owners earn extra income. This online briefing explains the **problem**, the **product**, and the **solution** — and how we are shaping the future with our batch of solar charging units. Attendees will learn how the model works, where units can be deployed, and how the solar charging programmes work. Join the **Diaspora Solar Charging Units Network** for a short online briefing on solar charging units across Africa and Asia. This session is for anyone interested in joining the solar charging revolution. The future is not going to be data in space, it will be distributed solar panels powersing communities. **Overarching topic**: This events are free thanks to the Monesave and Naijacharge founders. Its an opportiunity to learn how Solar Charging Units work, why it will perform better in continents like Africa or Asia.

Writing Group (LIVE at the All Good Bookshop)
Writing Group (LIVE at the All Good Bookshop)
We're the All Good Bookshop writing group - we've been around for 10 years now. We offer writing feedback and discussion, whatever your level. Never been before? That's fine. Can only come once in a while? That's fine. Want to come regularly? That's fine. While we're predominantly narrative-based, any type of writing is welcome. Fiction, non-fiction, screenplays, novels, short-stories... bring it along and see if it fits. The cost is £5 to join us. Half of this goes to the bookshop and the other half goes towards snacks/drinks for everyone. Pay when you get there. (If you're having any financial problems, feel free to have a discreet chat with Chris about it). HOW IT WORKS First, we do introductions, which cover: 1 - Who you are 2 - What kind of thing you write 3 - What you're working on 4 - What you've done in the last two weeks. Then we find out who has stuff to read out (1,000 - 2,000 words), and who has questions/discussion points. If you'd prefer to do written hand-outs, you can as well. We then run through as many people as we can fit in, so they can read out or run through a discussion point. The group is run by Chris Brosnahan, an experienced writer and a long-running facilitator of writing groups. HOUSE RULES 1 - No egos. Everyone's stuff is up for criticism/feedback. 2 - Be constructive. We're not a review group - we're trying to help each other improve. 3\. No pressure\. You can turn up and just observe if you want \- you're not under pressure to read out or feed back\. 4 - We do our best to be a safe space. You don't know the backgrounds of everyone in the room. If you're going to read something that might be problematic or emotionally difficult, talk about it first - and if you're unsure, ask. 5 - We do our best to be a safe space. For particularly graphic scenes, please discuss in advance. A reminder that listening to erotica is, in itself, a sex act, and needs the enthusiastic consent of everyone involved. 6 - Content warnings apply. This doesn't just mean things like sex or violence. It also includes things like abuse, long-term illness, death - think of things that someone may find difficult if they're dealing with at the moment. We do our best to be a safe space. 7 - If you're struggling with anything being read, you can take a break without any justification or questions. 8 - Banned question: "Is this based on your own life?" - it doesn't add anything and can make discussion awkward. Please don't ask it. 9 - Let other people talk. You'll get your chance to feedback or ask questions, but it can be all too easy to talk over people. You also don't need to respond to every piece of feedback. 10 - Keep it respectful. Keep it friendly. Any problems? Get in touch and ask.

L Community Nights – Pre-Pride Summer Launch | 50+ Spots Gone
L Community Nights – Pre-Pride Summer Launch | 50+ Spots Gone
Launching on Friday 3rd July on the South Bank, the night before London Pride, it's a chance to meet new people before the weekend gets going. **This is the launch event** L Community Nights is our new monthly social for lesbian and bisexual women in London. This will be the first one. We're taking over a dedicated area inside the Hall at the Big Belly. It's a fantastic venue with a great atmosphere and we'll have a dedicated area to ourselves for the evening. **Tickets** £12 early bird. £15 standard. Advance booking only. Only 7 spots left. Book your place: [thelcommunity.com/nights](https://thelcommunity.com/nights) **You won't be standing around on your own** Most women come on their own. There'll be hosts on the night who introduce people and keep things moving, so you won't be left wondering what to do. We expect around 50 women to attend. Women in our community range from their 20s to their 60s. A lot of them tell us they were nervous before their first one. You can arrive, get a drink, settle in, and just see how you feel. **Important** This is a female-only space for lesbian and bisexual women. That's the whole point of it and that boundary is upheld at every event. If that's not for you, this won't be the right night. **Finding us** The reservation is under the name Jenny. If you can't find us or feel unsure walking in, message on WhatsApp on +44 7591 386019 and someone will come out to meet you. **Staying connected** L Community is a free platform for lesbian and bisexual women, with a community timeline, member profiles, and a directory for housemates, services, and local recommendations. Once you join the app, you can post on the community timeline to let others know you're coming to the event and introduce yourself before the night. **Join here**: [thelcommunity.com/app](www.thelcommunity.com/app)

We may finish off at The Spurstowe Arms (68 Greenwood Rd, E8 1AB), where they serve cracking pizza and have a beer garden (the beers are...ok), or at The Dove (24-28 Broadway Market, E8 4QJ). Men's Group meetup
Men's Group meetup
**The idea for this group is to build a community where men can gather together and build connections & learn and grow from each other.** How we start each meeting is by each of us checking in with our "roses and thorns" aka what are the good things and the bad things going on in your life recently? Then we will go into a topic discussion. \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- **COMMUNITY AGREEMENTS** \*\*THERE WILL BE A ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY FOR NO-SHOWS. IF YOU RSVP TO A MEETING AND FAIL TO SHOW UP WITHOUT NOTICE, YOU'LL BE REMOVED FROM THE GROUP. THIS IS TO PRESERVE THE INTEGRITY OF THE GROUP\*\* 1. Confidentiality - EVERYTHING that is shared NEVER leaves this space so that this space remains safe and sacred. There is a zero tolerance policy for this. If a man is in violation of this, they will be permanently removed from the group. 2. Non-Judgement - we respect and honor every man’s truth so that we may receive the same from others. While we may not agree on everything, we commit to respecting every man’s perspectives and engaging in honorable discussion with one another. 3. Be committed - honor your commitment to this group and to yourself. If you attend a meeting, please commit yourself fully to the meeting. Also be committed to your own journey. When we fail, we own it & clean it up. 4. Speak from the heart - this is NOT a space to “look good”, have the “right” answers, and have it all together. Relax and know you are not alone. Be exactly who you are within the safety of this space. 5. Be supportive - This means always willing to provide encouragement to your fellow men, encourage action and momentum in each other’s lives.. Be willing to challenge each other. Be willing to hold each other accountable. 6. Participation - what you receive from this community will be a reflection of what you put into it. Period. We ask that you share your perspectives, reflect on others, and give/receive support when and where it’s needed.

CMG Gives Back: Serve Dinner at FAITH MISSION GRANT KITCHEN!
Join us as we get together to get together to help those in need at this CMG Gives Back event! We have a great little community of Movie Group friends so rather than see a movie this time, we’ll help “Create a better world” by helping serve those in need. NOTE: We’re switching it up this time and going with a DINNER shift on Mon, 7/6. Here are complete details and our plan for this event: FAITH MISSION – GRANT KITCHEN: The Faith Mission kitchen and dining room serves residents 3 meals a day, every day of the year. For this event, our group will help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents in the dining room, wash dishes, and clean surfaces. PLAN: We will be preparing / serving / cleaning for DINNER from 4:30 to 6:30pm and have space for a total of 7 volunteers. Please arrive at 4:20pm and wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. LOCATION: Faith Mission – Grant Kitchen is located at 245 N. Grant Ave. Enter the kitchen at Dock 1 (in the back of the building), indicated in the attached map. On-site parking in the adjacent lot and street parking are available in the surrounding area. Below are some links / attachments with additional info/details: IMPORTANT REMINDER: Our group will be providing all of the volunteers on this day so a firm RSVP count is essential. Please only sign up if you are certain you’ll be able to attend. If something unavoidable comes up, please try to update your RSVP no later than one week prior to the event. With few exceptions, no shows or cancelations within 1 week of the event will not be eligible for future CMG Gives Back events. I appreciate your understanding as we try to ensure the agencies have the volunteers needed to provide the essential services they provide to the vulnerable population they serve. Our Partner Agency for this event is Lutheran Social Services! A huge THANK YOU to those volunteering at this (or any of our previous or future) CMG Gives Back events! Look forward to seeing you there, Dan

Fast track • Arrange a time to shadow a COUNT volunteer. Call Dave Nohle at 614-268-9558 (cell). • Show up and try it out. • Complete application, etc. later. Normal process • Complete an online application (http://rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer/). • Attend orientation in advance. • At orientation you will complete forms agreeing to keep family/patient info private and allowing a background check and tour the facility. • Complete one training shift. COUNT has been volunteering there since May 2014.
