CHANGELING – DRAWING PERFORMANCE EVENT WITH ROBERT GEORGE SANDERS
**CHANGELING** **Join us for a magical evening of drawing and performance with the incredible Robert George Sanders – all set against the beautifully atmospheric chambers of The Crypt Gallery Euston!** In folklore, a changeling is an effigy or supernatural imposter that replaces a human when they are stolen, by changing their appearance to trick the onlooker. RUSH BASKET MAKING
RUSH BASKET MAKING
**Bookable via our website ➡️** [https://www.thegoodlifecentre.co.uk/events/rush-basket-making-53/](https://www.thegoodlifecentre.co.uk/events/rush-basket-making-53/) ⋆⋆⋆ A classic craft with a contemporary flair. Basket making is often overlooked as a pleasurable hobby to develop at home. There is a very satisfying feeling from creating a unique bowl or box from natural fibres. If you have ever enjoyed handling a beautiful basket and love the look of the interwoven strands, this is a chance to learn how to begin this worldwide tradition. In this one-day workshop, you will be able to make a bread-basket-sized beauty in a rustic rush to give as a present to someone special or keep to admire yourself. John Page is an experienced basket maker. He teaches his skills at City Lit in London and so we are proud to host a workshop with him at the centre. John also repairs harps and plays the organ. He is a patient and easygoing tutor so come and join us for a creative, relaxing day. In this small workshop, there will be plenty of guidance and background information on this classic craft. Beginners welcome. The use of all tools and basic materials is included.
DIY IN A DAY – DRILLS
DIY IN A DAY – DRILLS
**Bookable via our website ➡️** [https://www.thegoodlifecentre.co.uk/events/diy-in-a-day-drills-351/](https://www.thegoodlifecentre.co.uk/events/diy-in-a-day-drills-351/) **⋆⋆⋆** Learn the basics at this fast-paced but relaxed one-day workshop. A perfect starter for all those annoying jobs around the house that you feel you should be able to tackle…if only you knew how. We know it’s frustrating to wait for it to be done and then get charged for it and we understand it can be a bit daunting to head into a wall with a power drill. Pick up the skills to hang curtains, blinds, and simple shelves on any wall. Learn to drill into wood, brick, tiles, or hollow walls with confidence. We will show you how to judge what is behind the walls before you drill. An enjoyable ‘ hands-on’ one-day workshop that covers many of the common aspects of basic DIY. If you have just bought your home and have realized it didn’t include a landlord to fix stuff, or just don’t want to rely on someone else, this day is for you. There is plenty of time to practice on several exercises over the day. The workshop also covers hanging pictures and heavier objects like mirrors, cupboards, and flat-screen TVs. You will learn how to hang a hook, fix a baton, and then a pair of level shelf brackets. Finish off the day learning how to fit shelves into awkward alcoves – a handy skill you can use to fit work surfaces too. Learn how to select the correct drill bit, wall fixing, and screw to secure things confidently. The day will also include a chance to fill small and medium holes in wood and walls to prepare your surfaces for painting. Along the way, we show you how to remove old wall fixings and what to do with the ones you can’t. This a fun fast day with plenty of tools to try and lots of advice on which tools to have in a basic toolkit. If you are thinking of upgrading your drill, you can test all of the ones we use and feel more knowledgeable about what you want to buy. This course is especially suitable if you are not handy or if you are able, but not that confident, about tackling small but important tasks in your home. We will also suggest how to tell if a task is appropriate for DIY or GSI (Get Someone In). You will take home a set of skills that will last a lifetime. All tools and materials included. Perfect for beginners.

Try this small friendly workshop to jump-start your skills. In this one-day workshop, experienced curtain maker Ian McQueen will teach you how to produce beautiful flowing curtains for any room. Everything is explained as we sew along and we will also demonstrate how to interline curtains to make them extra sumptuous and heat-saving. We will also show how to use a triple pleat tape and make hand pleats. The curtain is all hand-sewn with only a minimum of straight machine stitching. Everyone will take home a sample curtain made from one metre of fabric. We have a small selection of fabrics for you to use. All personal protection, tools and materials are included. Suitable for beginners. Enjoyable for everyone.

If you are confident with a machine you can increase your range of abilities by learning new techniques. Take home your creation as a cushion cover or in a glass frame. Learn from Deborah Andrews, who teaches our basic sewing classes as well as being an artist and Illustrator. Even if you have never used a sewing machine before, with Deborah’s support and encouragement, you will develop techniques using a freehand needle on a domestic machine. **Morning – Part one.** In the morning you will ‘warm up’ by experimenting with ‘Couching’, ‘Applique’ and ‘trapunto’ techniques to enliven your design and enhance your work with interesting ‘3D’ effects. Using a palette of inspiring textiles and coloured threads, you will learn how to control an ordinary sewing machine by guiding the sewing foot to produce stitches that patch, embroider and script under your guidance. **Afternoon – Part two.** After selecting from our furnishing fabric selection or deciding on a plain linen background, you can build a unique creation using your own ideas or adapting our selection of templates if you prefer more structure. We supply coloured threads, an embroidery hoop, a large selection of scrap fabric and soft furnishing weight fabrics and cottons as your surface. You can bring your own fabric if you wish and any sketches and ideas you have for a project. Unleash your creativity and let your ideas emerge in front of your eyes. The use of all tools and materials are included.

CMG Gives Back: Serve Dinner at FAITH MISSION GRANT KITCHEN!
Join us as we get together to get together to help those in need at this CMG Gives Back event! We have a great little community of Movie Group friends so rather than see a movie this time, we’ll help “Create a better world” by helping serve those in need. NOTE: We’re switching it up this time and going with a DINNER shift on Mon, 7/6. Here are complete details and our plan for this event: FAITH MISSION – GRANT KITCHEN: The Faith Mission kitchen and dining room serves residents 3 meals a day, every day of the year. For this event, our group will help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents in the dining room, wash dishes, and clean surfaces. PLAN: We will be preparing / serving / cleaning for DINNER from 4:30 to 6:30pm and have space for a total of 7 volunteers. Please arrive at 4:20pm and wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. LOCATION: Faith Mission – Grant Kitchen is located at 245 N. Grant Ave. Enter the kitchen at Dock 1 (in the back of the building), indicated in the attached map. On-site parking in the adjacent lot and street parking are available in the surrounding area. Below are some links / attachments with additional info/details: IMPORTANT REMINDER: Our group will be providing all of the volunteers on this day so a firm RSVP count is essential. Please only sign up if you are certain you’ll be able to attend. If something unavoidable comes up, please try to update your RSVP no later than one week prior to the event. With few exceptions, no shows or cancelations within 1 week of the event will not be eligible for future CMG Gives Back events. I appreciate your understanding as we try to ensure the agencies have the volunteers needed to provide the essential services they provide to the vulnerable population they serve. Our Partner Agency for this event is Lutheran Social Services! A huge THANK YOU to those volunteering at this (or any of our previous or future) CMG Gives Back events! Look forward to seeing you there, Dan

Men's Group meetup
Men's Group meetup
**The idea for this group is to build a community where men can gather together and build connections & learn and grow from each other.** How we start each meeting is by each of us checking in with our "roses and thorns" aka what are the good things and the bad things going on in your life recently? Then we will go into a topic discussion. \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- **COMMUNITY AGREEMENTS** \*\*THERE WILL BE A ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY FOR NO-SHOWS. IF YOU RSVP TO A MEETING AND FAIL TO SHOW UP WITHOUT NOTICE, YOU'LL BE REMOVED FROM THE GROUP. THIS IS TO PRESERVE THE INTEGRITY OF THE GROUP\*\* 1. Confidentiality - EVERYTHING that is shared NEVER leaves this space so that this space remains safe and sacred. There is a zero tolerance policy for this. If a man is in violation of this, they will be permanently removed from the group. 2. Non-Judgement - we respect and honor every man’s truth so that we may receive the same from others. While we may not agree on everything, we commit to respecting every man’s perspectives and engaging in honorable discussion with one another. 3. Be committed - honor your commitment to this group and to yourself. If you attend a meeting, please commit yourself fully to the meeting. Also be committed to your own journey. When we fail, we own it & clean it up. 4. Speak from the heart - this is NOT a space to “look good”, have the “right” answers, and have it all together. Relax and know you are not alone. Be exactly who you are within the safety of this space. 5. Be supportive - This means always willing to provide encouragement to your fellow men, encourage action and momentum in each other’s lives.. Be willing to challenge each other. Be willing to hold each other accountable. 6. Participation - what you receive from this community will be a reflection of what you put into it. Period. We ask that you share your perspectives, reflect on others, and give/receive support when and where it’s needed.
