Cinema: Tokyo Godfathers + Intro
Cinema: Tokyo Godfathers + Intro
I heard very good things about this animated film. The story is so very suitable to the season of cheer and togetherness! (Please note: contains mature themes, drinking, cursing, etc - definitely not a children's film. Subtitled.). The cinema is in easy walking distance from London Bridge, at the bottom of Bermondsey Street. The intro is from Chai T Grande (Drag Race UK S7 2025). The plot: "On Christmas Eve, three homeless people living on the streets of Tokyo discover a new-born baby among the trash and set out to find its parents." Tickets are £14 or £7 concessions: https://thearzner.com/TheArzner.dll/Booking?Booking=TSelectItems.waSelectItemsPrompt.TcsWebMenuItem_0.TcsWebTab_0.TcsPerformance_95981.TcsSection_963

Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984)
Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984)
We've often hosted a traditional seasonal film for the strays stuck in London on Xmas Eve, but I thought I'd do something a little different this year, a true cult movie the night before, perfect for those wanting to get into the seasonal mood. Recently remade to inevitably disappointing effect, Silent Night, Deadly Night follows a young boy called Billy, who is orphaned after his family has a run in with a drifter dressed as Santa Claus. This, together with a childhood terrorised by nuns, gives Billy severe emotional problems and a grave fear of the man in red and white. Later on, now all grown up, he gets his first job in a department store and is forced to dress up as Santa, at which point he begins to take the naughty/nice dynamic a *bit* far. This attracted [a lot of publicity](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbJVZ3RNjA0) upon release and made enough of a splash on release to spurn at least four sequels, the first of which recycles nearly half an hour of this movie and still has one of the all-time [movie meme moments](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7gIpuIVE3k). But this is the far superior movie. It ain't Citizen Kane but it pure 80's horror fun. Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNBJfv5pIdY And tickets here: https://ticketlab.app/event/36347#/ This is showing at the Nickel so let's grab a drink at 8pm at the Craft Beer Co. and head to the cinema to stock up with beer, popcorn, etc. pre-movie. Maybe grab another one afterwards if people feel like it.
London Society CHRISTMAS GET TOGETHER - Penderels Oak
London Society CHRISTMAS GET TOGETHER - Penderels Oak
Have you ever wanted to gather together somewhere warm and cosy amongst some food and drinks and good company and make the most out of the evening for Christmas before truly celebrating Christmas with your loved ones? If so, this may be the right one for you.
Welcome back to another festive Christmas get together where you have the opportunity to socialise amongst one another, purchase some food and drink (alcoholic and non alcoholic), form friendships and also not feel alone. Christmas is one of the festivals that unites people but at the same time, there are those who feel lonely out there and are not as lucky as we are. At least here, you’re not alone and hopefully, we can make this a memorable evening before Christmas Day approaches. Here is the simple itinerary: 6:30pm: Await the members outside the pub 6:50pm: Head inside, find our space and socialise as well as have any beverages they offer. After 6:50pm: Any late comers can come inside and join us. We’ll be downstairs initially and make the most out of that area before the staff escorts us upstairs. You don’t have to but if you enjoyed the event and if you want, I’m more than happy to accept optional donations. Even if you donate £1, it helps not only myself but you guys too by unlocking pathways for even more potential events and resources: https://www.paypal.me/calvinjoy
WHAT - CHRISTMAS get together
WHERE - Penderels Oak
WHEN - 6:30pm - 11pm

REQUIREMENTS - Please bring your ID, be on your best behaviour and be sensible to yourself and your surroundings. PRECAUTION: The pub and almost all of their chains don’t have a booking system so we’ll go with the flow and find our spots where we can. Disclaimers: Please be on your best behaviour and respect one another. This group doesn’t tolerate any misbehaviour and misconduct. Should such a thing take place, you will be removed. Whenever an event takes place, I will cut off contact 20 minutes after the event commences. If you message even 1 minute after the cut off time, I won’t be available as I’m conducting the event. There will be photography and videography by myself so if you are photo conscious and/or do not want to be in the video, do kindly inform me and I’ll try my utmost best to not involve you in the picture. End of Year Singles Party, Shoreditch Comp Drink ! Happy Hour! All Ages!
End of Year Singles Party, Shoreditch Comp Drink ! Happy Hour! All Ages!
Host: Yash \*This event is a collaboration with other groups and social networks and it will be well attended \*To attend this event you need to buy a ticket from [https://www.fatsoma.com/e/2621f3w2/end-of-year-singles-social-party-in-shoreditch-with-complimentary-drink-happy-hour-all-ages](https://www.fatsoma.com/e/2621f3w2/end-of-year-singles-social-party-in-shoreditch-with-complimentary-drink-happy-hour-all-ages) What is better way to end 2025 rather than a group of single people mixing and mingling, partying and dancing, while keeping their eyes trying to spot that special one that will make their heart jump. Whether you are looking for a partner or just to meet and connect with other people who are at the same phase of life, this is the event for you! You never know who you are going meet in this evening and that is the beauty of it! You may find a friend forever, a party buddy, a partner in crime or a partner in life! Since this is a mix and mingle and not a speed dating there is no age range- in a social pool everybody is welcome and you can choose to speak to whoever you fancy. Connect with like minded people and open your social circle, enjoy chatting about anything and everything, with those you like, for as long as you like If you find somebody who you think you have a connection with, dare to ask their contact details right then and there... like the old times ;) Oh! and you don't need to ask the awkward question: 'so are you single?' because they all will be! You are very welcome to attend alone or with friends. We will be there making introductions, helping break the ice,, and act as a glue in the group. We have a reserved area/table where we can mix and mingle, so that everybody can relax and feel comfortable and we get to know each other. and then we are going to move on the dance floor! Simmons Shoreditch is a quirky cocktail bar bringing an off- kilter addition to the streets of the East. Just off Shoreditch High Street, this gem is notorious for a late-night party or 5. Its eclectic playlist and beautifully bonkers interiors set it apart from its peers. Famed for its rogue aesthetic, it really has it all. We're not joking. Bringing a new meaning to 'Everything but the kitchen sink,' this bar even has that. Its DJ plays from a built-in Kitchen Disco. Spinning disks that span decades with a playlist that's sure to keep you on the dancefloor until the early hours. Blaring neons, skull disco balls and waltzer-style booths all add to the charm! The program of the night is as follows : 7:30pm-9pm : Singles mixing and mingling 9pm: The music goes up and it is time for dancing. Everyone arriving before 9pm receives a token for a complimentary drink ( you can choose between beer, prosecco or non alcoholic) Happy Hour till 9pm! Dress code is smart/ elegant/ Smart Casual (smart dark jeans are fine but ripped jeans, sportswear, trainers/sportshoes and hats are not allowed). For security reasons every guest must carry photographic ID with them (Driver’s License, European ID or Passport) independently of the age. If you wish to be welcomed and introduced to other people by the hostess please arrive before midnight How to find us: When you arrive please ask to be directed to Marianna's Events area/ Yash. Freestyle + White Elephant Gift Exchange
Freestyle + White Elephant Gift Exchange
**White Elephant Gift Exchange** (WEGE): This may be your only chance to re-gift that “undesirable” bobble or whats-it that you got for Christmas. Every year for Christmas my evil ex in-laws would give me the exact same gift that properly symbolized how well they knew me and how much they cared. For 24 years I received a bushel-basket sized bag of white tube socks from Gabe’s, a local discount/factory seconds store based in Morgantown, WV. If I were still married, that’s what I would re-gift in this gift exchange. No worries. I have since recovered emotionally and all my socks match and are all the same length. Goodwill was the lucky recipient of my 24-bushel sock collection quite some time ago. Things are better now. If you have nothing that merits being re-gifted, please try to keep the price limit to around $15. Remember, no one is required to participate in the gift exchange. You can watch and still have fun. The way this works: Each person bringing a gift will get a pretty yellow ticket (just like the ones we use for the Queen of Hearts). When the gift exchange starts I will draw a ticket and read the number. The person with that ticket may select a gift from the table. Being first is not a true victory in this instance. The next person whose number is drawn will chose a gift AND if they don't like it, they can exchange it for (steal?) the one the previous person selected. It goes on and on as mayhem ensues. Only one exchange. Exchange for any previously selected gift. Got it? Good. **On Freestyle night** \- just bring a bottle to share\. There is NO formal wine tasting like on other weeks\. Door charge is $10 \(cash or Venmo only please\)\. We may have some left over wines to clear out\! Glasses are provided\. Take Care\. See you there\. **Parking**: There are several public parking lots near the Alive614 hall. Please be careful to NOT park in private parking lots. They do tow. Check Google maps to scope out your space. Anyone who is early could easily find a parking space on the street nearby. I am told that the Chase parking lot is safe after hours. **Glasses**: …will be provided. Please note that after the wine tasting, the EMPTY glasses need to be returned to the boxes at the service table. Please do not make me hunt down your empty glass. Please be gentle, our glasses are fragile. Uh, they are made of glass! **Food**: You are welcome to bring a snack to share. It is not required. Most people do though. If no one brings anything, there will be nothing. **Code of Conduct**: Though mostly understood, it’s still worth mentioning. We don’t have rules per se, but we highly discourage the following topics of discussion because they are likely to incite anti-social responses - Sex, Politics, Religion. Please don’t mistake this as an attempt to limit your free speech rights but rather a guide to a place and time for appropriate discussions. **After the lights go out**: After the last sip of wine, when we clean up and turn the lights out, if you still haven’t had enough of us, it is typical for a group to get together and go to a local eatery for food and/or drinks or coffee. Again, We look forward to meeting new members and reuniting with old friends. Sincerely, ***Paul Uttermohlen***, **Red 1 Realty** *Your Hilliard Wine Club Host*

We hope to see you. **SIDE NOTE:** New members are welcome to ALL our Friday night wine tastings, but this night is a special overture to those who don't want to feel that they are the only new person in the room. Don't worry. You won't be. And don't hesitate to RSVP to other events. **OLD MEMBERS NOTE**: Hey Old Members! You're not excluded from this event. We expect to see you there to help make the new members feel welcome. **Sample 4 different wines** this Friday for $15 (*Cash or Venmo only please*). Glasses are provided. Bring a snack to share. Bring a bottle to share if you care to. See all the details below for the Hilliard Wine Club Wine Tasting. In Person. In Real Life. Actual Wine from glass bottles with corks and everything. **Wine**: Tastings will be $15 for four samples as always. And you are welcome to bring a bottle of your favorite wine to share with others. Participation in the wine tastings is optional. But since you’re going, I will buy enough wine to cover you. If you bring your own wine and do not participate in the tasting you will only pay $10 to cover the door charge. **Parking**: There are several public parking lots near the Alive614 hall. Please be careful to NOT park in private parking lots. They do tow. Check Google maps to scope out your space. Anyone who is early could easily find a parking space on the street nearby. **Glasses**: …will be provided. Please note that after the wine tasting, the glasses need to be returned to the boxes at the service table. **Extra Wine**: After everyone has had their samples, we remove the pouring spouts and any remaining wine is poured freely to whomever wants it. I hate having leftover wine. **Queen of Hearts**: The Queen of Hearts raffle is a fundraiser for the club and a Barnum and Bailey type extravaganza - minus the dancing ponies, clowns, and actual circus. Bring your ***cash*** as the Queen does not accept American Express or other plastic. **After the lights go out**: After the last sip of wine, when we clean up and turn the lights out, if you still haven’t had enough of us, it is typical for a group to get together and go to a local eatery for food and/or drinks or coffee. Again, We look forward to meeting new members and reuniting with old friends. Sincerely, ***Paul Uttermohlen***, **Red 1 Realty** *Your Hilliard Wine Club Host* **DISCLAIMERS**: The Hilliard Wine Club is just that, a club. It is not a commercial venture nor a non-profit organization [501(c)(3)] and as such does not provide commercial services such as accepting credit cards or retailing wine or other products. The weekly Queen of Hearts Raffle is a fund-raising event for the club to cover special events, entertainment and frequent cost shortfalls such as when more people RSVP than show up after wine is purchased to accommodate a larger group or when people show up on freestyle night without any wine to share (please don’t do that). Personal responsibility is the minimum we expect from our members who are encouraged to limit their alcohol intake as needed to allow for an enjoyable evening for everyone. Wine is the primary focus and choice beverage of the wine club. Hard liquor consumption is highly discouraged. On occasions when someone has consumed more alcohol than is allowed by law to operate a motor vehicle, members are encouraged to use a ride-share service, a taxi, a sober friend or a designated driver. Your safety and well being are of great concern to the leadership of the club, but are ultimately the responsibility of the individuals. Photographs and videos taken at the club by individuals and/or leadership of the club are the property of their creators and may be used as desired as long as their use is compliant with the law. In photographic privacy terms, you have the same rights as you do walking down a public street (near zero). Please do not attend any of our events if you are not aware of and in agreement with our disclaimers and policies. Members who behave in an anti-social manner can and will be banned from the club and barred from entry if needed (don’t test me on this), though admittedly it is a rare instance in which someone’s behavior necessitates being banned for life. Since 2017, there have only been a few. [Last updated on April 2, 2025]
