A fun, flavour-filled evening for wine lovers, cheese enthusiasts, and anyone keen to meet someone who shares their great taste. Have a Mer’lot of fun meeting fellow wine enthusiasts during this full-bodied evening of Old World wines and newfound single friends. Add a cheese and charcuterie board into the mix, and you’ve got yourself some truly perfect pairings! You’ll be welcomed at 19:15 by your It’s a Date host, who will show you where to leave your jacket and introduce you to the rest of the group. From there, you’ll enjoy three 125ml servings of hand-selected wines — typically a red, a white, and either a rosé or sparkling option. Pairing notes will be provided to give insight into each wine’s origins, add context to the flavours, and offer easy conversational cues as we explore the wines (and each other) throughout the evening. Mid-way through, we’ll share a selection of cheeses and charcuterie — the ideal accompaniment to a relaxed, organic, and sociable night out. Throughout the event, your host will make introductions and ensure everyone has plenty of opportunities to mingle and connect. We’ll wrap up around 21:00, after which the bar will remain open for a glass from your favourite bottle and the chance to continue socialising more widely. Once home, you can access a list of attendees on your It’s a Date dashboard to send match feedback and organise those second dates. **Join Backabush on the bank holiday for some clifftop, riverside and ancient woodland hiking with historic hotel accommodation in the heart of beautiful Chepstow town.** Number of nights - 3. £285 - Shared twin room £385 - Private single room We have booked our group into a charming 3 star Welsh hotel which has all the modern comforts you would expect whilst retaining the charm and character of a 16th century coaching inn. We will also get a chance to visit Tintern, where the famous abbey is considered to be the most beautiful and superbly situated monastic ruin in the country. **Chepstow Castle, Wintour's Leap, Lancaut and Tidenham Chase** This lovely walk is not challenging but offers splendid views across a dramatic stretch of the Wye. We can set out on foot straight from our hotel to follow the Wye upstream to where the river makes a great curve around the Lancaut peninsula. We can take in the spectacular viewpoint of Wintour's Leap and return to Chepstow to visit the Medieval Castle. **Symonds Yat Rock, the Hand Pulled Ferry and the Wobbly Bridge** \- Symonds Yat is one of the most iconic and beautiful locations in the entire Wye Valley and a fantastic opportunity to watch Peregrine Falcons\. There is the novel opportunity of crossing the Wye on a hand pulled barge\, the trail then winds up past King Arthurs Caves to an Iron Age Hill Fort\. We also hope to find time to visit the some other local beauty spots like Puzzlewood, Cannop Ponds and the Forest of Dean Sculpture trail. For those of you who can't make the tour on Wednesday, don't worry! We are going to do the walking tour of the South Bank again on Saturday morning. It's ideal for pre-intermediate or intermediate students of English, but everyone is welcome. There will be an exercise for you to do including information from the tour, which you can do on your phone. We're meeting outside the pub, not inside! This is a walking tour for you to learn something about interesting London locations and practise your English at the same time. It's at the very reasonable price of 10 GBP per person. Starting from Epping station, we’ll follow a scenic trail near the disused rail line through fields, woods, and heritage stations, past the worlds oldest wooden church where we can enter and have a look (845AD) finishing in Ongar (where the central line used to go to) After lunch, the heritage steam/diesel train back to North Weald then herritage bus 339 on the last leg to Epping underground station. Wine Not? is a women-only gathering before the Balancers Saturday social. Most attendees come solo, so it’s an easy and welcoming place to meet people and settle in before the night gets busier. London can make meeting new people feel awkward, especially if you're coming alone. This early social creates a comfortable environment where you can chat, laugh, and get to know a few friendly faces first. Expect a relaxed atmosphere, a few light games, and plenty of time to connect naturally. At **7.30 pm the main Balancers social begins**, and the room fills as over **150 people usually join the night**. We practice, dance, and enjoy a BYOB bottle of your favorite wine at the Dublin Ballroom off Sawmill, North, and “milonga” is a social event for tango dancing where dancers socialize. A “*practica*” is an informal social event for tango dancing where dancers focus on practicing the dance; while a “*practilonga*” combines the relaxed atmosphere of a “*practica*” with the format of a “milonga.” We are doing it all! ***Cost is $10 payable to the Teacher.*** *Cost is for the cost of the venue and covers some snacks.* We have had fun doing this event in the past. Door charge is $10 (cash or Venmo only please). **Parking**: There are several public parking lots near the Alive614 hall. Please be careful to NOT park in private parking lots. They do tow. Check Google maps to scope out your space. Anyone who is early could easily find a parking space on the street nearby. **Glasses**: …will be provided. Please note that after the wine tasting, the EMPTY glasses need to be returned to the boxes at the service table. Please do not make me hunt down your empty glass. Please be gentle, our glasses are fragile. Uh, they are made of glass! **Food**: You are welcome to bring a snack to share. It is not required. Most people do though. If no one brings anything, there will be nothing. **Code of Conduct**: Though mostly understood, it’s still worth mentioning. We don’t have rules per se, but we highly discourage the following topics of discussion because they are likely to incite anti-social responses - Sex, Politics, Religion. Please don’t mistake this as an attempt to limit your free speech rights but rather a guide to a place and time for appropriate discussions. **After the lights go out**: After the last sip of wine, when we clean up and turn the lights out, if you still haven’t had enough of us, it is typical for a group to get together and go to a local eatery for food and/or drinks or coffee. Taco Bar Margarita and Beer tasting Complementary chips and salsa Margs/cocktails at the bar for purchase Freshly prepared snacks in the deli for purchase Festive Band/Music Margaritas/Mexican Beer Tasting + Taco Bar: $15.00 per person (covers 4 Margarita or beer samples and one pass thru the Taco Bar) Where: #MarketDistrict (Grandview Yard) location. The party room (our private space) will be decorated with both patios open! Adjoining upstairs area also open for over flow and mingling.
