'Affordable' Burgundy Tasting at Christos' House
'Affordable' Burgundy Tasting at Christos' House
Burgundy is the most famous, most terroir-specific, and most expensive wine region in the world for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Top wines can cost hundreds of pounds a bottle, but for ordinary wine lovers without a hedge fund to lean on there are sources of delicious, quality wines to be found. 'Affordable' Burgundy does exist! The tasting will start off with 2 bottles of Cremant de Bourgogne, sparkling wine made in the traditional method, Then we'll taste 4 whites and 4 reds from all the main sub-regions of Burgundy - Chablis, Cote D'or, Cote Chalonaise and Macon. Numbers will be limited to 12 people seated round one table, so almost a bottle of fine wine per person. During the tasting a selection of fine cheeses, pates, and other food will be served. **WAITLIST:** If the event is fully booked and you would like to join the ‘waitlist’, post a comment to let me know **REFUNDS:** The 'ticket price' for this event is £38 including £3 for paypal/meetup fees. If you cancel by Tuesday 10th latest AND there is someone on the waitlist who pays for your place you will get a refund of £35. **Please note that Meetup charge an additional fee to attendees on top of the price which the Organiser sets. This fee is paid direct to Meetup and is beyond our control.** Cheers, Christos

Singles Event for ages 25- 40: Guided Tour of the British Museum + social
Come and enjoy a cultured social evening, a tour with an experienced British Museum tour guide, in a small group of about 16 people and then socialise afterwards. It's a history tour with a difference: It's a group dating event/ history guided tour for single people who love history. I bring the history and you bring the chemistry. I have delivered several of these events and the quality of conversations you find on the tour are excellent. People coming on these tours are well travelled, curious, articulate and history buffs. If you could fit in then join me! The guided walk of the museum is by Let's Discover London (we've been giving guided tours of London since 2006) and your tour guide was an official tour guide at the museum and even had sleepovers with the mummies (so you'llget the insider scoops) The event is suitable for people.- who love history but can bring chemistry -find dating apps, and modern digital dating contrived. **The event will run as follows**: Meet your guide and the group at the entrance to the museum (we have roughly an even split of ladies and gentlemen) and then we'll have brief introductions. Then our guided tour starts. Artefacts range from the Rosetta Stone, the bust of Pharoah Rameses ll, the Parthenon sculptures (the 'Elgin Marbles', Sutton Hoo, the bog body, the Lewis chessmen, a crystal skull, There'll be time for interactions as we walk between the stops and we will use a voting app which you'll be requested to download in advance, to see whose answers match. It's the History Geek Compatibility Alogorithm! Watch how people vote. (Voting for a statue of Aphrodite is different to voting for a bog body). And for our final 1.5 hours we will retire to a nearby pub for a drink to talk about history, the universe and more.

Simmons Shoreditch is a quirky cocktail bar bringing an off- kilter addition to the streets of the East. Just off Shoreditch High Street, this gem is notorious for a late-night party or 5. Its eclectic playlist and beautifully bonkers interiors set it apart from its peers. Famed for its rogue aesthetic, it really has it all. We're not joking. Bringing a new meaning to 'Everything but the kitchen sink,' this bar even has that. Its DJ plays from a built-in Kitchen Disco. Spinning disks that span decades with a playlist that's sure to keep you on the dancefloor until the early hours. Blaring neons, skull disco balls and waltzer-style booths all add to the charm! The program of the night is as follows : 7:00pm-9pm : Singles mixing and mingling 9pm: The music goes up and it is time for dancing. A Beautiful Village in the Centre of London: tour with Blue Badge guide Laurence
A Beautiful Village in the Centre of London: tour with Blue Badge guide Laurence
Photo by Ben Brooksbank - Creative Commons Meet outside Bond Street Station , Marylebone Lane exit @ 11am- 11.10. Lots of nice cafes nearby. The exit is on the north side of Oxford St, opposite Boots **Pay on the day and RSVP me please by email - on this page - or text.** Fee £15 With its elegant Georgian architecture, blend of trendy and traditional shops and cafes and - from some parts - a stone's throw from Oxford street, Marylebone is an absolute delight. In fact, if asked where in central London i'd live if given the chance - yes it's a dream! - i'd choose Marylebone, with its relaxed and villagey feel. Hidden away behind the throng of the West End this wonderful little village is also littered with some incredible sights, worthy of the best that London has to offer. It has one of the most magnificent art galleries, a couple of glorious churches and a statue of a fictional character some thought was real....not the statue, the character! Like all of London's areas it has, of course, had its edgy moments too- a pleasure garden which could turn unpleasant and a famous bank theft - no, they didnt steal the bank.....! Add to this a magnifcent station - one of the first - and a hotel which never became a hotel but was lived in by HG Wells. In fact many a name will be dropped on this one such as Dick Turpin, Guy Burgess, Lord Byron, Admiral Nelson, Charles Wesley, The Laughing Cavalier(ok that's a painting) and the Beatles. Can you afford to miss it? **Pay on the day and RSVP me please by email - on this page - or text.** Host - Laurence 07889 298573 JOIN OUR 45+ NOT GRUMPY FACEBOOK COMMUNITY <[https://www.facebook.com/45plusnotgrumpy/](https://www.facebook.com/45plusnotgrumpy/)>

Ha Hyde Park Grade I listed, it is the largest of the Royal Parks. The park was established by Henry VIII in 1536 when he took the land from Westminster Abbey and used it as a hunting ground. It opened to the public in 1637 and quickly became popular, particularly for May Day parades. The park's name comes from the Manor of Hyde and appears as such in the Domesday Book. The name is believed to be of Saxon origin and means a unit of land, the hide. Hyde Park was a popular duelling spot during the 18th century, with 172 taking place, leading to 63 fatalities. The Serpentine a 40-acre created in 1730 at the behest of Queen Caroline. Originally fed by the River Westbourne and Tyburn Brook in the 1730s, the lake's water was then pumped from the Thames in the 1830s. Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain The design aims to reflect Diana's life, water flows as it cascades, swirls and bubbles before meeting in a calm pool at the bottom. The water is constantly being refreshed and is drawn from London's water table. The Memorial also symbolises Diana's quality and openness. ABOUT OUR SECRET LONDON WALKS It is a 15-year fascinating journey together to explore the whole of beautiful, enchanting Secret London. WINERY VISIT - Three Creeks Winery (Hamilton)
WINERY VISIT - Three Creeks Winery (Hamilton)
For the month of March, we will visit a new winery to me...Three Creeks Winery. Weather permitting, we will be sitting outside, but we will play that by ear. Please bring your own fold-up chair in case there is not a space large enough for our group. We will make one! Their website mentions shade trees, but I do not know if they will be available. Outside food IS allowed, but they also sell charcuterie boxes, cheeses, meats, bread sticks, crackers, chips, popcorn, and chocolate. I hope to see you there! TERROIR: UNCORKED @ Barcelona Wine Bar on 14th Street
TERROIR: UNCORKED @ Barcelona Wine Bar on 14th Street
\*\* Tickets are $71.50 ($65 + tax) and can be purchased [here.](https://www.exploretock.com/barcelona-wine-bar-14th-street/event/594770/terroir-uncorked) \*\* UNCORKED is a walk-around tasting where we open 30 different bottles from our list—a chance to try the cellar of our award-winning wine program. The wines are paired with seasonal paella and passed tapas. Each time we host, we dive into a different theme. This time, we’re uncorking terroir. Terroir is a French term that refers to the natural environment in which a wine is made. This includes everything– but most often focuses on soil, topography and climate, ultimately producing a bottled sense of place. Our 400+ bottle program deeply focuses on terroir, becoming a collection of places that can be experienced through a pour. For this UNCORKED, we’re opening 30 wines that we think are some of the clearest expressions of place out there. We can’t wait to share these truly transportive bottles with you.
Beaverdam Reservoir Park & Lark Brewing Co.
Beaverdam Reservoir Park & Lark Brewing Co.
We will be hiking the loop trail, (counter clockwise) around the BeaverDam Reservoir starting at the brand new Reservoir Park VisitorsCenter. Beautiful views of the water and varied woodland areas. This is an 7.5 Mile loop hike around one of Northern Virginia's largest bodies of water. The loop is mainly flat with a tiny hill or two. I've rated the loop moderate because the distance is 7.5 miles. After the hike we'll head over to Lark Brewing. 24205 James Monroe Hwy, Aldie, VA 20105 for food and beverages. \*\* I will make every effort for your safety. You are hiking at your own risk. Dogs are welcome on the hike as long as they are good with groups, friendly and you follow all leash laws. I like kids but this is an adult event so please no kids or any one under 21.\*\* Reservoir Park Trail on AllTrails https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/virginia/reservoir-park-trail?sh=lkkoxr&utm_medium=trail_share&utm_source=alltrails_virality
GWS New Vintage Tasting with Phil Bernstein
GWS New Vintage Tasting with Phil Bernstein
Every year we host a tasting to try German wines from the new vintage, with a focus on Riesling. Our host is Phil Bernstein, General Manager of MacArthur Beverages, one of the leading retailers of German Riesling in the country. Every year, Phil brings some of the best wines of the vintage. The new vintage is 2024, another in an increasing string of very good vintages, though regrettably the first to be carrying the increase in wine tariffs. Mosel Fine Wines says that “2024 is a must-go-to vintage for lovers of classic and ethereal Mosel lightness and elegance!” Vinous Media found that the German wines of 2024 are “sprightly, sleek, concentrated Rieslings with exquisite verve and full aromatic development.” Here is your chance to try the 2024s from some of the very best producers! **DATE**: **Friday, March 27th, 2026.** Doors open at 6:30 pm; tasting begins at 7:00 pm.
