Ciorcal Comhrá sa chlub, beginners welcome!
Dear fellow Gaeilgeoiri, Cead mile failte / a warm welcome to this group of Irish language lovers and enthusiasts. Hope you will enjoy everything it has to offer and feel free to suggest new events, and, why not step in as an event organizer? What this group is not: - A group limited to those with perfect proficiency in the language, where any single word of English is banned, and where you will get corrected for every séimhiú that, God forbid, you might be forgetting What this group is: - A forum of Gaeilge enthusiasts willing to share their interest and love of the language. We all started learning a language, including our own, from scratch at some point in our lives. Absolute beginners are welcome and should not feel intimidated. Near perfect and native Irish speakers are also welcome to share their vast knowledge of the language. Hopefully this will create a thriving community of lovers of the language at any level. Friday Night Kirtan: Soulful Musical Meditation
Friday Night Kirtan: Soulful Musical Meditation
Overview Get ready to immerse yourself in a spiritual journey through music and meditation at the Friday Night Kirtan event! Join us every Friday at **ISKCON Dublin** for an evening that’s more than just a concert—it’s a sanctuary. Located right in the heart of the city, at the top of the stairs on Abbey Street, our Friday Kirtan is a space for everyone to unplug, find inner peace, and experience ancient wisdom through sound. #### **What is Kirtan?** Kirtan is a traditional form of "call-and-response" musical meditation. One person sings a simple, ancient Sanskrit mantra, and the group sings it back. It’s effortless, deeply relaxing, and you don’t need to be a "singer" to participate. The music builds from a gentle, meditative whisper to a joyful, rhythmic celebration that naturally clears the mind. #### **Why Join Us?** * **De-stress:** Let the vibrations of the harmonium and drums wash away the week's tension. * **Community:** Meet like-minded people in a warm, non-judgmental environment. * **The Sanctuary:** Discover a quiet, hidden space in the city centre dedicated to peace and self-discovery. #### **The Evening Flow** * **6:00 PM – 7:00 PM:**[ Open Bhagavad Gita Wisdom Circle](https://www.meetup.com/harekrishnaireland/events/313884389/?fromSeries=true&slug=harekrishnaireland&eventId=313884389) (Optional - feel free to join early!) * **7:00 PM – 8:30 PM:** The Main Kirtan Experience * **8:30 PM onwards:** Evening concludes/Community connection time.
Free lecture: Becoming a person
Free lecture: Becoming a person
What makes a human being a *person*? Is it our bodies, our souls, our consciousness — or something more? Join us for a talk by Dr. Mette Lebech, lecturer in philosophy in Maynooth University as she investigates this idea of personhood through the lens of Edith Stein's philosophical anthropology. If you'd like to receive primer material on the talk and be informed about future events by email, you can also register here: https://forms.gle/QaGzqky6V7K6Ve6f6
📚 Bloomsday & Joyce 🍸
📚 Bloomsday & Joyce 🍸
📚 James Joyce’s ***Ulysses*** turns an ordinary Dublin day into an expansive exploration of consciousness, memory, and identity, making Bloomsday (June 16th) a celebration of both the city and the inner lives of its inhabitants. Following Leopold Bloom’s wanderings, readers are invited to see the epic in the everyday, where small gestures carry profound emotional weight. Joyce’s broader body of work—including *Dubliners* and *A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man*—offers rich ground for discussion, tracing his evolving style and deepening preoccupation with language, identity, and modern life. Bloomsday, observed each June 16th, transforms literature into lived experience, as readers retrace Bloom’s steps and immerse themselves in Joyce’s richly textured world. Let's grab a drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) and discuss books by Joyce, on Joyce, on Ulysses — whether poetry, fiction, or non-fiction. Bring your physical book or e-reader. There's no formal structure or agenda—just books and good conversation.💬 It's a perfect place to get book recommendations and rediscover your reading momentum if you've hit a slump. We welcome readers of all backgrounds and interests! ⚠️**Something Happened?** If something unpleasant happened to you, it may happen to others. Even if it seems minor, don't hesitate to reach out to me. 🔍 **How to find us?** * When I reach the venue, I'll leave a comment in the meetup where the group is seated. Normally, the booking is in my name, so you can ask the staff for the group. * If you're unable to find us, leave a comment in the meetup page. I'll be able to guide you. We highly encourage you to move between tables and strike up conversations with fellow book lovers. These discussions about literature and reading recommendations are often the highlight of the event! As an organizer, I'm always looking for feedback about the event and suggestions for new events, so feel free to suggest ideas to me. 💡 I look forward to seeing you all! 😊

Zazen Meditation + Dharma talk or Kinhin
Zazen Meditation + Dharma talk or Kinhin
The meaning of the word zen is meditation, zazen means sitting meditation. In zazen practice we begin to know ourselves, and to go beyond the limits of our personal ego. Within our tradition zazen is referred to as shikantaza, not doing, letting go of thoughts, dropping off body and mind. This sitting meditation is the focus of our practice. Language limits our ability to communicate the true nature of zen; it is something that is better understood through practice. We are open to everyone interested in learning about zen. Intro workshop for newcomers is available at 5.30pm each Sunday. The dojo is a sacred place and it is important to be considerate of everyone. We have many people that travel to practise together once a week or once a month. So for that reason it is really essential that we all know the structure of the sitting practise (when to sit, how to do Kinhin, the different bell sounds and their meaning etc), to ensure a silent, safe and meaningful meditation. And it's also great to meet everyone before the sitting practise. And answer any questions you may have. We have zafus and zabutons (mats and cushions) for all to sit on. Chairs are available too. Comfortable clothing for sitting, black or neutral tones best. We greatly appreciate a donation of €5 to cover costs if it's possible for you. Please arrive 10min before start so 6ish (if you're not doing the intro workshop). You are very welcome to our dojo!

Grace by James Joyce (Bloomsday Festival)
Grace by James Joyce (Bloomsday Festival)
"Grace” from Joyce’s *Dubliners* is a tale of booze, bombast and religious confusion that brilliantly satirises the role of the Catholic Church in early twentieth century Irish life. When struggling salesman, Tom Kernan (who also appears in *Ulysses*), is found drunk and injured in a pub toilet and brought home in disgrace to his long suffering wife, his friends hatch a plot to save him from his errant ways. [Please secure your own ticket on Eventbrite.](https://jamesjoyce.ie/events/bloomsday-festival-2026-grace-by-james-joyce/) This acclaimed production features the actor and comedian, **Terry O’Neill**, who brings to life Joyce’s rare collection of characters and takes you on a hilarious journey from purgatory to paradise. *Dubliners*, first published in 1914, is one of the great short story collections in the English language. By exploring the lives of his fellow Dublin citizens with unflinching realism, Joyce revealed truths both blasphemous and transcendent. “O’Neill does a terrific job…. comic ironies abound…” Irish Independent ‘O’Neill brings considerable energy and skill as the narrator’ Nomoreworkhorse

Columbus: Luke 3
Columbus: Luke 3
"Do as I say, not as I do." Children tend to have a built-in ability to recognize hypocrisy quicker than many adults, and there are few children who will respect an adult whose actions do not match his or her words. John the Baptizer wanted to make it clear that God himself is in NO way pleased by people who claim to follow Him and whose lives in NO way reflect His character. In fact, the Greek word for "actor" that people used in the first century is *"hypokrites"*. John called out the truth to any and all who would listen--from peasants to the king, even at peril of his own life and freedom--and insisted God does not judge by words alone, but by actions and in truth. Luke Chapter 3 concludes with making it clear to the Jewish and Greek readers of the day that Jesus was not only the rightful King of Israel, but also the true Son of Man--the Son of Adam, Who came to provide a way for those who had followed Adam into sin to return to fellowship with God. Take a look at Luke Chapter 3 and join us at **10 am,** **Sunday, June 28,** at **True Food Kitchen at Easton Town Center.** We'd love to see you there! Main Library, Meeting Room 2B What does it mean to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world? In this gathering, we'll continue our series on the Sermon on the Mount from a mystical perspective. Together we’ll explore Matthew 5:13–16, looking not only to the passage as moral instruction, but also to the deeper transformation of consciousness that Jesus invites. Together we'll reflect on how spiritual awakening changes the way we see ourselves, others, and the world around us. Libera Animae is an interfaith community focused on inner growth, creativity, and authentic connection. All backgrounds are welcome.
