Sie folgt einem dreiteiligen räumlichen Konzept – vom Wohnzimmer über die Arena bis zur Bühne – und zeigt, wie der ESC erlebt, gefeiert und politisch interpretiert wird. Qwien macht damit die queeren Dimensionen des ESC sichtbar und reflektiert ihn als popkulturelles Phänomen, das bis heute Debatten auslöst. English: Since 1956, the Eurovision Song Contest has been much more than just a music competition. As a transnational media event, it reflects European moods, political divisions and pop culture developments as well as national self-promotion. For many in the LGBTQIA+ community, the ESC is also a central place for queer visibility – and thus a space for belonging, representation and negotiation. The exhibition ‘United by Queerness’ is dedicated to these tensions between diversity and nationalism, inclusion and exclusion.
