Hike Rock Creek Park near Boundary Bridge - Easy 3.6 miles (Plus one hill)
Evening temps on Wednesday may slip back into the 70's on Wednesday, so let's do a 3.6 mile Rock Creek jaunt near Boundary Bridge. We will start on the Western Ridge Trail, go over the 150' hill, cross the river and come back along the Valley Trail. While the first part has two hills, the second part is essentially flat. We will meet at the Meadowbrook Park Pavilion in Chevy Chase, which should have plenty of parking along the baseball field. Be sure to leave enough time to battle traffic and find parking. We will leave promptly at 6:15, so that we can be back at our cars at least 20 minutes before sunset. Anyone who wants to track the trail can do so with the Alltrails app. [https://www.alltrails.com/explore/custom-routes/custom-route-a8c7fa6?u=i&sh=5s9wgt](https://www.alltrails.com/explore/custom-routes/custom-route-a8c7fa6?u=i&sh=5s9wgt)

PFS #7-08: The Haunted Corridor [1-4]
PFS #7-08: The Haunted Corridor [1-4]
As the Pathfinders slowly regain their footing within the elven nation of Kyonin, Venture-Captain Viore Ciobanu has set his sights on cleaning up what remains of Talhindir Lodge. As such, he's requested a small group of Pathfinders to come and assist him with some minor pest control in the basement library and archives within the lodge, and is happy to reassure them that there's no danger greater than a stubborn rat or hungry centipede. However, when the doors shut behind the agents, it quickly becomes all too clear that sometimes empty lodges aren't always as empty as they seem... A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for 1st- through 4th-level characters, playable in 4-5 hours. Written by John Curtin **Content Note**: This scenario contains themes of involuntary imprisonment, blood, and experiencing death. Before you begin, understand that player consent (including that of the Game Master) is vital to a safe and fun play experience for everyone. You should talk with your players before beginning the adventure and modify descriptions of the narrative as appropriate.

Woodley Park/Embassy Row Stroll on Juneteenth Eve--POSTPONED
Woodley Park/Embassy Row Stroll on Juneteenth Eve--POSTPONED
(Stroll POSTPONED by threat of inclement weather. Will be rescheduled.) Come celebrate Spring Fever and the Eve of Juneteenth/Pride Weekend/Summer Solstice by joining us on a scenic and historic 4 mile, moderate stroll through one of Woodley Park's most scenic neighborhoods and adjacent Embassy Row. Our sojourn starts at the top of the escalators of the Woodley Park-Zoo-Adams Morgan Metro Station at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday evening June 18. The first half of our walk takes us up a steep hill with substantial elevation along Calvert Street and Woodland Drive. We will admire the lavish homes and gardens and learn about a harrowing murder. Once at the top of the hill, we will careen down to Whole Foods for a bathroom break. After our brief respite we will pass the Naval Observatory and turn onto Massachusetts Avenue and Embassy Row. At S street, we will turn left and pass the home of former president Woodrow Wilson and the former site of the Textile Museum, now used by Jeff Bezos as a party house. At Decatur Place we will descend DC's renowned and picturesque Spanish Steps and potentially pause for a group photo. ( Please note that the Steps do not have a handrail.) Following the Steps we will make our way to Dupont Circle, where we will conclude the formal portion of our stroll and if desired choose among any number of establishments for refreshments. All are welcome. Please bring beverages, snacks, comfortable walking shoes and the $5 Adventuring trip fee. COUNT RMH Housewarmer Volunteering (Ronald McDonald House)
Some trained COUNT volunteers work together once a month at RMH (http://www.rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer.php) as Housewarmers (usually on the 1st Sunday from 1 – 5 PM). Some schedule other shifts at their convenience. You may try this out with less fuss by following a "Fast track" or go through the normal process. Fast track • Arrange a time to shadow a COUNT volunteer. Call Dave Nohle at 614-268-9558 (cell). • Show up and try it out. • Complete application, etc. later. Normal process • Complete an online application (http://rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer/). • Attend orientation in advance. • At orientation you will complete forms agreeing to keep family/patient info private and allowing a background check and tour the facility. • Complete one training shift. Daily shifts are: morning 9 AM - 1 PM, afternoon 1 - 5 PM and evening 5 - 9 PM. • Schedule shifts online using the on the RMH scheduling system (http://www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/?FROM=32895). The Ronald McDonald House (RMH) provides housing and meals for families with sick children. The Columbus RMH is the largest in the world with 137 rooms. COUNT has been volunteering there since May 2014. Housewarmers work with RMH guests to provide a home-like environment - greet, assist with family needs, answer phones, give tours, assist with checkin/checkout, prepare guest rooms after checkout, clean facility, laundry, restock supplies and staff the front desk. RMH Housewarmers volunteer at least one four-hour shift a month. All Housewarmers must complete an application and agree to a background check before they can be full fledged volunteers.

These Meetups are co-ed, super laid back, and all skill levels are welcome. Post your skill level and a suggested court in the comments section so we can round up as many players as we can for some tennis fun! Speak Easy (Storytelling)
Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for June is "Roadtrip" Speak Easy: true stories, told live. The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast. Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect. The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!
