To celebrate the upcoming summer solstice, join a small group of like-minded hikers for a sunset-to-sunrise hiking experience in the Wienerwald hills on the night of June 20 to 21 (Saturday to Sunday). If you have ever wondered what it feels like to hike through the night but have not tried it yet, this is your chance to join fellow hikers for a truly memorable experience. We’ll follow the “Towers of the Vienna Woods” route between Bad Vöslau and Mödling, just outside Vienna, mostly along forest roads and trails, visiting seven lookout towers along the way that offer night-time panoramas over the surrounding hills and scattered towns. 🤔 **FITNESS LEVEL** Although this full-day adventure requires no technical skills, you should have **solid endurance to comfortably complete a ~31 km route with around 1100 m of elevation gain and descent (relaxed pace)**. We start at the bike rental at Copa Beach in Kaisermühlen and ride leisurely towards the eastern end of the Donauinsel. The route takes you past the Kraftwerk Freundau and offers wonderful views of the Danube and the surrounding nature along the way. Medieval fortress exploration and open international networking night in Bratislava, Slovakia, conveniently starting and ending at Vienna Main Station (Wien Hauptbahnhof). After getting off the train just outside Bratislava, we'll jump on a quick bus to the Danube/Morava confluence, where Devín castle looms tall and proud at on a strategic rock. Acknowledging its mighty presence from the in- and outside, we'll go look for the nearby Freedom Gate memorial and stroll through quaint and picturesque Devín village.
