Things to know before playing: Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls; We play Thursday Night Football (outdoor only) . We play 90 minutes (kick off is at 20:30, and we meet at least 15 minutes before for a warm up phase). Post-Corona football matches are most likely between 14-16 and 28-32 players. If you would like to join please bring artificial turf shoes (like the ones for indoor turf) and shin pads (not mandatory but definitely recommendable). All I ask is that you come with a good mood, be respectful to everyone, and pay online using the link below. [FOOTxp Thursday Night Football](https://footballexperiences.net/kickaball/p/thursdaynightfootball/) Other methods for payments. **Bank Transfer**: Sorin-Florian Brici AT27 2011 1829 5564 7001 **\* [Revolut](https://revolut.me/brici)** \- Recommended **\* [Wise](https://wise.com/pay/me/sorinb256)** \- Also recommended **\* [Paypal](https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/sorinSocial)** \- Please use non\-Commercial product We play light: no sliding, hard tackling, fighting, screaming, & hopefully no injuries. We need to respect current regulations in Vienna, Austria. The main priorities are to have fun and being safe. The drinks are relatively free after the game in the local pub, served to those who have shown fantastic football fair-play skills. We’ll confirm the location, the pitches, and the dressing room numbers via our dedicated Football WhatsApp group. Keep an eye out for the group messages. See you all soon. Sorin SMS/ WhatsApp +43 6764276984 (please ask to be added to our football groups). We will probably need to confirm your presence if you are coming for the first or second time. Important management rule: \> "No shows" are penalized with 10€ fee\. Please remove your name from the list at least SIX\!\!\! \(6\) HOURS before the event\. Book a place via FootballExperiences\.NET using this link [Kick A Ball via FOOTxp.COM](https://footballexperiences.net/kickaball/) One small final note: Please avoid trying to take justice in your hands. If someone is talking bad, complaining, insulting someone, fouling on purpose or committing the usual football shenanigans, please let the organizers know. Measures will be taken, we assure you. Any misbehavior on your part, such as responding in an obscene way, fighting, or leaving the pitch is not a practical and diplomatic way of resolving the issues (it tends to create more tension and cause more problems). Let’s be respectful and mature and try to enjoy the game we all love. That’s why we’re all here. Get to know people from all over the world and have fun! Thank you. Sorin
UX VIENNA at home with Arnold Schönberg
UX VIENNA at home with Arnold Schönberg
Arnold Schönberg (1874–1951) was one of the most significant figures in the creative world in the first half of the 20th century. Following in the tradition of Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, and Mahler, the Austrian (and, after his immigration to New York and later Los Angeles, also US-American) composer, music theorist, teacher, and writer reshaped the practice of harmony in classical music. Some of Schönberg’s most famous contributions were the development of his twelve-tone-method and his attention to sound color (Klangfarbe), both of which strongly influenced generations of composers up until today. But Schönberg’s creative world goes beyond music. He was a designer, painter, inventor, and systems thinker: building tools and furniture, binding books, designing stage sets and costumes, inventing machines, and even building his own chess set, for four players. In this meetup, we explore Schönberg through a UX lens: what can his way of thinking, making, and problem-solving teach us about design, tools, and user experience today? We will also look at the museum and concert space as an experience that unfolds through the perception of an audience. The [Arnold Schönberg Center](https://schoenberg.at/) is a repository of Schönberg's archival legacy. Director Dr. Ulrike Anton will provide an introduction to the Arnold Schönberg Center. User researcher Dr. Franziska Brunner will give us a guided tour and lead a discussion of the exhibition. Arnold Schönberg's estate is on [UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register](https://www.unesco.at/en/communication/documentary-heritage/memory-of-the-world-in-austria/arnold-schoenberg-estate), recognized for its global importance as a documentary heritage. After an afternoon in the museum space from 3:00–6:00 p.m.. We also invite you to attend an [in-house concert at 6:30 p.m](https://schoenberg.at/en/events/upcoming-events/3793/loops-from-other-planets)., followed by dinner. 🎻 🍽️ * The €18 concert price includes entrance to the exhibit. (Entrance to just the exhibit without the concert costs € 6.) * Admission for both the museum and the concert is free for those under 26 years old. * Dinner afterwards is optional, and everyone will cover their own meal. *Photo: Replica of Schönberg's study room © Johannes Böck*
🎳 Let’s play skittles! „Queer Kegeln“
🎳 Let’s play skittles! „Queer Kegeln“
Join our monthly “Queer Kegelabend”, which is mostly a pure fun event with a slight sportive touch. No previous experience required. Beginners and all genders most welcome! It is our ambition to welcome a broadly diversified crowd! Your own omfortable footwear might contribute to an enjoyable evening. **Schedule:** 1. 19:20 Get together 2. 19:25 Instructions (including safety), line-up of participants 3. 19:30 Getting started * *Latecomers unfortunately can´t be admitted.* * *Please bring a few EUR 1 coins to keep the coin operated machinery going.* There is no drinks or food service in the basement (Kegelbahn) of Café Weidinger. So feel free to order something on arrival and take it downstairs before we get started. Alternatively bring your own drinks or food. Yes, this is possible! Its chatting, meeting (new) people, catching-up with the ones you might already know from our monthly MeetUps at the HIVE or other events. Communication is key, like always. Let’s enjoy a nice evening together with a modest sportive touch on the side! **Please show respect to the others and arrive on time.** As we need to line-up the players before getting starteted, hence late comers unfortunately can´t be admitted. **What is skittles play (Kegeln)?** Skittles play has a very long tradition in Europe and is the game before the Americans "invented" bowling. So we will play with 9 pins and smaller balls with less weight compared to bowling. **Costs:** To rent the skittle alley is just EUR 8 per hour for the whole group. We will divide costs by the number of participants. So expect a contribution of around *EUR 2-3 for the whole evening*. The number of participants is limited. The machinery of the skittle alley is coin operated and accepts EUR 1 coins only. So please bring along a few EUR 1 coins to keep the machinery going! **Participation Fee:** To help cover the Meetup maintenance fee, we recommend a donation of 1-2 Euros directly to the organizers. **Results:** The results of the evening (Igo is so kind to count the scores and enters theses for each participant in a spreadsheet) are published in the "pictures" area of the MeetUp. Historic results are availble there. **Cafe Weidinger** has not been renovated over the last at least 50 years. The skittles alley dates from 1964. You can feel this "special flair". A bit shaby, but inexpensive fun for a whole evening. It´s almost a museum of a skittles alley. **The difference between bowling and skittles play**: * The bowling lanes are covered with an oil film, the skittles lane is not. * In bowling, the ball is is considerably larger and heavier. * Bowling lanes are slightly curved, our lane is flat. * Bowling balls have three holes, our balls have none, one or two. Most of our balls have two holes. * Nine pins are thrown instead of ten. * In bowling, the pins are set up by so-called pin-setter machines and therefore stand freely in contrast to skittles, where the pins hang from strings. * Our skittles lane is an asphalt lane. * You do not need to rent or bring special shoes llike for bowling. But to play in sneakers or sportive footwear is more comfortable.

Spring in Znojmo (CZ): National Park Hike & Historic Town Walk
Spring in Znojmo (CZ): National Park Hike & Historic Town Walk
Hi everyone! On Saturday, April 25, 2026, I am planning a scenic spring hike in **Znojmo (Czech Republic)**. Join us for a relaxed and social day as we explore the historic town of Znojmo and beautiful sections of **Podyjí National Park**. **Highlights** 🌿 Scenic trails through parts of Podyjí National Park 🏰 Historic town of Znojmo with charming streets and viewpoints 🌄 Beautiful views over the Thaya river valley ☕ Flexible return — stay longer in Znojmo to explore, relax, or enjoy a café after the hike I also plan a short walk through the city so we can do some sightseeing together. After the hike, you are free to stay longer in Znojmo if you like. Since everyone buys their own train ticket, you can return at your preferred time. I highly recommend visiting the Znojmo Town Hall Tower (approx 4€ entrance) and the underground tour: [https://www.znojemskabeseda.cz/en/tourism/underground](https://www.znojemskabeseda.cz/en/tourism/underground) **Hike Details** **Duration:** Approx. 4 hours (pure walking time, not including sightseeing in Znojmo) **Distance:** Approx. 16 km **Elevation:** ↗️ 450 m up **Difficulty:** Easy (technically), but requires basic fitness due to the distance **Pace:** We’ll walk at a comfortable, social pace and take short breaks as needed **Meeting Point & Travel** **Meeting Time:** 08:30 **Meeting Location:** Praterstern station (ground floor near ticket machines, exit to platforms 1 & 2) **Departure:** Train REX3 leaves at 09:01 (presumably Platform 1–2). Please buy your own ticket before boarding the train. **Arrival:** Znojmo at 10:36 **Direct trains back to Vienna:** 14:57, 16:57, 18:57, 20:57 I recommend avoiding the last train back, just in case. **What to Expect** We will walk together as a group at a relaxed and friendly pace. This is not a race or performance hike — the focus is on enjoying nature, conversation, and a shared experience. We will stay together during the hike and take short breaks whenever useful. Please note: We do not plan to stop at huts or restaurants during the hike. **What to Bring** 🥪 Snacks and drinks (at least 1.5 liters of water) 🥾 Sturdy hiking shoes 🌧️ Basic rain protection 🧢 Sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses) Please note: There are no public toilets on the trail itself. **Ticket Information** The **VOR Freizeitticket** costs €19.90 for one day in Lower Austria. Important: The Einfach-Raus ticket, VOR Freizeitticket, and Klimaticket are only valid until **Retz**. You need an additional ticket for the short section between **Retz and Znojmo** (approx. €3–4 per direction). If you are unsure about ticket options, don’t worry. I will help coordinate everything at the meeting point so we can start the day in a relaxed way. **Travel documents** Since we are crossing an international border, please bring your passport or national ID card. Even without regular border checks, you are legally required to carry valid identification. Each participant is responsible for their own travel documents and entry requirements. **Disclaimer** This is a free, private leisure activity. I am not a certified hiking guide. Please join only if you feel comfortable with the distance and conditions. Everyone participates at their own responsibility. I will send a weather update to everyone registered on Thursday evening. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Looking forward to a beautiful spring day together! Crossing the Border on Foot Retz (AT) to Znojmo (CZ)
Crossing the Border on Foot Retz (AT) to Znojmo (CZ)
Hi everyone! On **Sunday, April 26, 2026**, I’m planning a scenic cross-border hike from the charming town of **Retz** in Lower Austria to the historic Czech town of **Znaim (Znojmo)**. This route leads through gentle countryside, vineyards, open fields, and quiet rural landscapes typical for the Weinviertel region. We start the hike in Retz and finish in the old town of Znaim, known for its impressive medieval architecture and its location above the Thaya River. The trail takes us through rolling hills and agricultural landscapes, gradually crossing the border into the Czech Republic. The terrain is mostly easy to walk, with wide paths and only moderate elevation changes. **Highlights** 🌾 **Typical Weinviertel landscapes** with vineyards, fields, and wide open views 🌍 **A scenic cross-border experience** from Austria into the Czech Republic 🏰 **Finish in the historic old town of Znaim**, a charming town with impressive medieval architecture **Hike Details** * **Duration:** approx. 6.5 hours (pure walking time including some sightseeing in Znojmo) * **Distance:** approx. 21 km * **Elevation:** ↗️ 400 m up * **Difficulty:** Easy to moderate (main challenge is the distance) * **Pace:** We’ll walk at a comfortable, social pace and take short breaks as needed More information on the trail: [https://www.bahn-zum-berg.at/weinviertel/weinberge-und-thaya-von-retz-nach-znaim/](https://www.bahn-zum-berg.at/weinviertel/weinberge-und-thaya-von-retz-nach-znaim/) **Fitness note** Although we will walk at a relaxed pace, the hike requires physical effort due to its length (about **21 km**) and elevation gain (around **350 meters**). The trails themselves are not technically difficult, but a reasonable level of fitness is needed to comfortably complete the distance. This hike is therefore probably **not suitable** for people who do not go hiking regularly, who have not joined our group hikes before, or who are not used to longer hikes. **Meeting Point & Travel** **Meeting Time:** 08:30 at **Praterstern station** (Ground floor near ticket machines, exit to platforms 1 & 2) Please arrive a few minutes early so we can buy the group tickets. **Departure:** Train **REX3** leaves at **09:01** (presumably Platform 1–2) **Arrival:** Retz at **10:12** **Direct trains from Znojmo back to Vienna:** 16:57, 18:57, 20:57 I recommend avoiding the last train back, just in case. **What to Expect** We’ll walk together at a **relaxed, social pace**, staying as a group throughout the day. This is **not a race or performance hike** — the focus is on shared experience, conversation, and enjoying the landscape at an unhurried rhythm. We’ll take regular short breaks whenever useful. 🥪 We don’t plan to stop at huts or restaurants during the hike, so please bring your own snacks and drinks (at least **1.5 liters of water**). 🌧️ Weather can be changeable, so **basic rain protection is recommended**. 🥾 Please wear **sturdy hiking shoes**. Some sections may be muddy, depending on the weather. Please note that **there are no public toilets on the trail itself.** 🧢 Please bring **sun protection** (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses), especially on warm or sunny days. ⚠️**Important** Since we are crossing an international border on foot, please do not forget your **passport or national ID card (Personalausweis)**. Even though there are usually no border controls between Austria and Czechia, you are legally required to carry a valid travel document. Each person is responsible for their own documents and entry requirements. **Ticket Option** The **VOR Freizeitticket** costs **€19.90** for the day in Lower Austria. More information: [https://www.vor.at/en/tickets/ticket-overview/leisure-ticket](https://www.vor.at/en/tickets/ticket-overview/leisure-ticket) Please note: The following tickets are only valid until **Retz**: * Einfach-raus ticket * VOR Freizeitticket * Klimaticket Ostregion / Österreich You must buy your own ticket for the section between Znojmo and Retz (approx €3,4 for each direction). The VOR Freizeitticket is only valid on regional trains in Lower Austria. If you are unsure about ticket options, don’t worry — just message me directly. And if this sounds complicated: it isn’t. I will help coordinate everything at the meeting point so we can start the hike in a relaxed way. **Disclaimer:** As always, this is a free, private leisure activity. I am not a certified hiking guide, and participation is at your own responsibility and risk. I will send a weather update to everyone registered on **Friday evening**. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Looking forward to seeing you for this spring hike! Jörg **Essential Logistics** . . . **Travel Information** **Travel documents** Since we are crossing an international border, please bring your passport or national ID card. Run+B-fast
Run+B-fast
Hi Running fellows, Whether you’re a walker, new to running, a semi-pro, a marathonist or a sprint star - if you want to start your weekend in an active way and enjoy the outdoors in lovely surroundings with a fun, international and multilingual group of people, you are welcome to join us! Every Saturday at 9:30 am, we meet, we run, in the magnificent Schönbrunn park, and then we go for breakfast. Want to discuss politics or the best recipes for banana pancakes? Not a problem. Not feeling social? Tune out with your earbuds - we can talk over breakfast. We are casual. You can be too. What to expect: Start by meeting Adrian, Ali, Liz, Paul and Sonia on-time at 9:30am outside the Schönbrunn U-Bahn stop (exit Grünbergstraße). (Coordinates: 48.1858130, 16.3200640) From there, we walk to the side park entrance where the “running” part begins. The important thing is that you run at your own pace. Typically, small groups of people will run at the same pace as you, so you never have to walk/run alone :) We finish one hour later, at about 10:40am, reconvening just inside the Hietzinger Tor exit. (Coordinates: 48.1858825, 16.3032647). From there, we’re off to breakfast! Breakfast Details: Anker bakery opposite the U4 Hietzing station and depending on the weather, grab something for a picnic in Schönbrunn park, or hang out in the bakery. If you missed us earlier, you can always go there around 10:45. We are a fun group of runners who don’t take things too seriously. We meet, chat, RUN, stretch, chat, EAT and we hang out over a beer every now and then. It's that easy. Please join us for breakfast after the run! The more the merrier. Typically we are 10-30 people, as not everyone who comes signs up on meetup. Important disclaimer: Please only run as much as you feel you can, considering the temperature, weather conditions, your own fitness etc... run and walk at your own pace as the organizers do not assume any liability for any injuries or health issues. Sonia, Adrian, Ali, Paul and Liz
