Hello there! We'd like to welcome you to our FREE Sahaja Yoga meditation meetings hosted by Wolfgang, Hamid, Anil, Shantanu & friends which take place in Vienna – 7pm Thursdays. With Sahaja Yoga Meditation we normally sit on chairs to achieve yoga, effortlessly & spontaneously. So there is no need for mats and no special clothing required. We are all volunteers of a Charity association and have many years of experience in offering free Sahaja Yoga Meditation classes. All across the globe, many are seeking new sources of energy. Meanwhile, the most transformative energy of all is hiding in plain sight, within us. It's natural, sustainable, and infinitely renewable. It's called inner kundalini energy. And everyone already has it — everyone!. It is often likened to an inner feminine or motherly energy which automatically knows about us and what is needed to help us restore balance and harmony within our subtle being. It works spontaneously, effortlessly, organically and cannot be paid for. The classes are designed to help those attending get into a genuine meditative state, which can be felt tangibly. It is quite effortless and spontaneous. The free classes feature introductory talks, video's, practical workshops and general question and answer opportunities, making them perfect for seekers trying to establish a state of yoga, and they are available across Vienna most evenings and throughout Austria. The idea is that you don't do yoga - you Achieve Yoga! Sahaja Yoga Meditation is a simple, time-honored technique. It helps those who enjoy it, reduce stress and increase wellness and health holistically. It brings better focus and helps people become more centered and better balanced. Anyone can do it. Founded by Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, Sahaja Yoga Meditation is a world wide movement for peace and self awakening. All the meetings and classes are free of any charge. Each week we go through simple meditation techniques, often with guided meditations to help reduce stress and achieve the peace of true meditation. We share tips on how to help stay in balance during the day and how to meditate at home. The meditation is based on connecting with the inner chakras (energy centres) and balancing the subtle body. The tradition and aims of meditation are explained which in essence is to be in the present with no mental activity or thoughts about the past or the future. Occasionally there are 1 day retreats to help those interested, deepen their individual experience and hear advice and tips from those who have been practicing for some time. It’s ultimately all about getting into ‘thoughtless awareness’, a natural state of being. 10 Reasons to try-out Sahaja Yoga Meditation in Vienna in 2015 It’s easy. You don’t have to spend years living in the mountains to achieve enlightenment. You don’t have to give up anything or spend weeks in silence. You don’t have to learn mantras or wear special clothes or even try to clear my mind. The meditation simply happens spontaneously. The classes are easy and fun, and as long as you keep up your daily ten minutes of meditation you find you are able to achieve a deep and peaceful meditation on a regular basis. It’s free. You don’t pay for your meditation. There are no catches, and there are no hidden expenses. If you missed attending classes one week, it doesn’t matter. You just picked up the classes again when you could manage it. It is simply the generosity of spirit of other Sahaja Yoga meditation practitioners that allows Sahaja Yoga to be taught to whomever desires it, at no cost. You can see results. You feel relaxed and you feel a deep sense of calm. Now you can also feel your chakras (energy centres) and through the meditation techniques learnt along the way you can understand the vibrations of your own energy centres. If you feel unwell you meditate and use the techniques you’ve learnt to heal your chakras, and you can then feel the centres clearing, and as a consequence your health improves. It’s all-inclusive. All the major religions and their core teachings are acknowledged and respected in Sahaja Yoga. No one’s spiritual journey is right or wrong. And through meditation the wisdom of all the great gurus and saints is easily revealed and understood. In fact, you’ll find that since you’ve been meditating you’ll come to understand and appreciate the teachings of great teachers such as Lao Tse, Buddha and Mohammed. You’re your own boss. You meditate and introspect at your own pace. You don’t have to keep up with others, or feel pressured into doing things you’re not comfortable with. You are your own teacher, your own guru, your own master. This technique of meditation empowers you and enables you to help yourself. You don’t have to rely on anybody else. Of course, there are many people who practice Sahaja Yoga Meditation who can teach you a great deal about the yoga & meditation and its various techniques. However, all that you need is ultimately within you. It’s everywhere. Sahaja Yoga is practiced in almost every country in the world. So, no matter where you travel you can always locate a local Sahaja Yoga Meditation programme that you can attend. Whenever you get the chance, and no matter where you are, You try to link up with other Sahaja Yoga practitioners and enjoy a collective meditation. (Meditating with others is a much deeper and more powerful experience than meditating alone.) It’s portable. You don’t need to take anything with you to meditate: no mats, no potions, no special clothing or books. You can meditate anywhere – in a quiet room or on a noisy bus; at the beach or watching a movie. Thoughtless awareness (the state of meditation) is easy to achieve if you keep meditating daily, and it can be achieved in almost any situation. It makes sense. Everything you’ll learn will make sense. There is a lot of common sense in Sahaja Yogameditation, and even though not everything was known to you (for example, the chakras and their respective qualities), once you have a chance to learn more about the meditation, it feels very natural and comfortable. Everybody does it. When you begin a hobby or join a new group, you often find that there are particular types of people who are in the group with you. For example, some groups attract younger people, others older folk; some groups have a lot of people who are wealthy, or people who live in a certain part of town. In Sahaja Yoga you will find people from every walk of life, from every demographic – male and female, young and old, rich and poor, every shape, size and colour, with varying interests, languages and beliefs. You don’t have to be a certain type of person to do Sahaja Yoga meditation. It is one of those rarities: something for everybody. You feel good. Without fail, every time you sit down to meditate you feel better. Hi everyone! On **Saturday, March 7, 2026**, I’m planning a relaxed early-spring hike along **Stadtwanderweg 6 – Zugberg & Maurer Wald** in the south of Vienna. This route takes us through quiet forest paths, gentle hills, and open clearings with beautiful views towards the Vienna Basin and the Wienerwald. It’s a lovely mix of nature, culture, and calm atmosphere. **What makes this hike special** ⛪ Wotruba Church (Kirche zur Heiligsten Dreifaltigkeit) 🌌Sterngarten Georgenberg (Open-Air Planetarium) 🌄Zugberg & Mitzi-Langer-Wand 🌳 Maurer Wald & Eichwiese ⛪ Bergkirche Rodaun This hike is ideal if you want a moderate workout without technical difficulty. Hi everyone, On **Sunday, 8.03.2026,** I am planning to go around the western part of Vienna, starting at Hütteldorf U4 train station. We will hike along and outside the wall of the Lainzer Tiergarten, past the Lainzer Tor to Georgenberg with Wotruba Church and the Hermann Mucke open-air planetarium. We will continue partly along the Lainzer Tiergarten wall to Kaufberg, Breitenfurt Ost, Doktorberg, and Eichkogel, finishing at Rodaun (tramway line 60). You can decide during the hike how far you’d like to go. Walking all the way from Hütteldorf to Rodaun is optional and only recommended if you feel fit and motivated on the day. There are **possible exit points**: 1\. Lainzer Tor \(after 5 km and 180 m elevation gain\)\, public toilet\, bus 56B bound for Hietzing U4 2\. Wotrubakirche \(after 8 km and 330 m elevation gain\)\, tramway 60 about 1 km away 3\. Breitenfurt Ost \(after 16 km and 410 m elevation gain\)\, bus 250 at 14:36\, 15:06\, and at half\-hour intervals\, bound for Wien Liesing Bahnhof 4\. Rodaun\, end of tramway line 60 \(after 23 km and 600 m elevation gain\)\, end of hike expected at 16:30 **Meeting Point** **Bahnhof Wien Hütteldorf, 9 a.m.**, outside (south of) the U4 station Hütteldorf, at the lift at the pedestrian bridge over the Vienna River (see the photo below). **Hike Details** Duration: approx. 6.5 hours (pure walking time to Rodaun) Distance: up to 23 km (if walking the full route) Elevation: approx. 600 m ascent and 550 m descent Difficulty: Easy to medium Walking the full route to Rodaun requires good basic fitness Shorter options are possible Pace: Comfortable and social, with regular short breaks **Group Pace & Staying Together** Fun (but serious) group disclaimer: If you sprint ahead and disappear, I will assume you’ve chosen a new life among wild boars, dog walkers, and people power-walking in jeans. Running ahead voids all group benefits, including navigation, moral support, access to snacks, and protection from aggressive squirrels. Hi Running fellows, Whether you’re a walker, new to running, a semi-pro, a marathonist or a sprint star - if you want to start your weekend in an active way and enjoy the outdoors in lovely surroundings with a fun, international and multilingual group of people, you are welcome to join us! Every Saturday at 9:30 am, we meet, we run, in the magnificent Schönbrunn park, and then we go for breakfast. Want to discuss politics or the best recipes for banana pancakes? Not a problem. Not feeling social? Tune out with your earbuds - we can talk over breakfast. We are casual. You can be too. What to expect: Start by meeting Adrian, Ali, Liz, Paul and Sonia on-time at 9:30am outside the Schönbrunn U-Bahn stop (exit Grünbergstraße). (Coordinates: 48.1858130, 16.3200640) From there, we walk to the side park entrance where the “running” part begins. The important thing is that you run at your own pace. Typically, small groups of people will run at the same pace as you, so you never have to walk/run alone :) We finish one hour later, at about 10:40am, reconvening just inside the Hietzinger Tor exit. (Coordinates: 48.1858825, 16.3032647). From there, we’re off to breakfast! Crowned European Capital of Culture 2026 under the motto "Awakening Curiosity", beautiful Trencin lies right on the Vah, Slovakia's longest river. From Vienna main station, a quick train whisks us over to the Slovak capital in less than 60 minutes. There, we have a quick break before taking another express train to our destination. Once arrived, the immediate thing catching our eyes is Trencin castle, the city's dominant feature. Before making our way up castle hill through Brezina Park, we first wander through the town's quaint city core along baroque Hotel Elizabeth, elongated Mierové Square, the medieval Parish Stairway built in 1568 and Gothic St. Michael's Carner. Underway we'll have fun with ice breakers, discussion prompts and local trivia. After dinner, we take a casual walk along the Vah river bank back to the station. The first bike tour for 2026 to the Greifenstein power station, take the opportunity and start with a new personal record! We will meet up north of the danube right next to the bike rentral "Fahrradverleih Copa Beach". From there, we follow the Danube Cycle Path (Donauradweg) heading upstream along the northern bank of the Danube River. This well-maintained path offers us scenic views of the river and the surrounding nature. We pass through a charming smalller town or two and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the riverside. Continuing along the path, we eventually reach the Greifenstein power plant, a notable landmark along the Danube. Halfway through we'll take a short 5-10 minute break. For our return trip, we cross the river at the Greifenstein power plant using the bridge or designated crossing point. Once on the southern bank, we follow the Danube Cycle Path downstream. This route provides us with a different perspective of the river and takes us through lush landscapes and picturesque areas. We continue along the path until we arrive back at Copabeach. **Distance:** 45 km **Elevation gain:** close to none **Max altitude:** 182 m **Average speed:** 23-25 km/h (if we don't have significant headwind). This bike tour is not for everyone. Please only participate if you feel fit enough for this average speed. If you're too slow, we'll wait once or twice, but sooner or later you'll be left behind if you can't keep up. **Note:** The route is almost 100% asphalted. Once a month, on the first Saturday of the month, we combine our awesome, fun workout with some brunching! In the winter, we are graciously hosted by Superbude Wien Prater. After our fun functional training, we'll drift over to Café Brenner (also part of Superbude), find a spot to chill and enjoy the awesome location a bit longer. A nice chance to connect with the other lovely people that worked out with us and eat a little. They have all day breakfast!!! There is no obligation to stay after the workout, but of course, you are very welcome to! As always at My Pace, we'll bring our unique blend of playful and mindful elements to give you your fundamentally different functional training! The pace for this hike is suitable for beginners and families, at 1.4-1.9 mph, with slower options available as needed. The hike is referred to as a lollipop. We will meet at the Visitor Center parking lot and hike to the Boston Mill Road Trail. We will take the North Ridge Trail to the Appalachian Trail and then the Ambassador White House Trail. **Blockhouse: A Moderate 8-Mile Hike Near Potomac, MD** Set within the stunning Blockhouse Point Conservation Park—consistently ranked among the best natural areas in the Montgomery County Park system—this hike offers a rich blend of biodiversity and quiet history. As you hike, you’ll trek through mature upland and floodplain forests, passing tranquil streams and unique river-rock outcrops. The area is a sanctuary for diverse wildlife and serves as a rare botanical haven, home to at least nine species of threatened or endangered plants. While the park’s rugged terrain once served as a strategic wartime transportation route for supplies, it remains a peaceful retreat today. The park’s name and historical significance are rooted in the American Civil War, specifically the year 1862. Following the Battle of Antietam, the Union Army constructed a series of blockhouses—sturdy timber fortifications—along the bluffs to defend the vital Potomac River crossings and the C&O Canal from Confederate raids. These outposts were manned by the 19th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, who kept a watchful eye on the supply lines into Washington, D.C. While the site was high-stakes and strategically vital, it is a rare historical gem because it never saw an actual skirmish; the soldiers spent their time on picket duty and reconnaissance rather than combat. Today, eagle-eyed hikers can still find the subtle earthen mounds and remnants of the foundations where these defensive structures once stood, serving as silent monuments to the soldiers who guarded the river. The hike begins in the deep woodlands before descending toward the C&O Canal Towpath. As you walk along the water’s edge, keep an eye out for sunbathing turtles and elegant Blue Herons while soaking in sweeping views of the Potomac River. The route also offers a glimpse into the region’s industrial past as you pass by the historic Violet’s and Pennyfield Locks. To cap off the journey, the trail climbs back into the shaded forest, culminating in a series of magnificent vistas. Unless you already have an appropriate pass, the park entrance fee is $20/car for a single visit or $35/car for a 12-month pass that is good for the Maryland side of the river too. Come twice and you'll save 5 bucks! For the record, all scheduled hikes will be held even when it rains, snows or is super hot or cold unless the weather is too extreme to be safe. Our standard hike is a relatively easy 1 hour plus loop hike at a moderate pace. Usually a hike-extension is offered for those wishing to add a few miles more, up to 7 miles or so total. In spite of our Meetup name, we also hike in nearby parks such as Riverbend, Scott's Run, Turkey Run, Seneca, and Billy Goat A or C on theMaryland side of the Potomac. We have also scheduled hikes in Shenandoah NP and at Sugarloaf in Maryland. Please note that phone connections can be iffy in the park so don't call you are running late, but texting may work. It's best for you to be on time as we set out pretty much on time. This 1+ hour of hiking (or more) is a great way to relax, turn off your cell phones, make new friends, and get some exercise. **This scenic scamper is a \~2mile moderate hike that has uneven terrain & is relatively flat.** Pace: 2mph. The trek traverses Camp Seneca park, home to [the Lodge at Little Seneca Creek](https://montgomeryparks.org/parks-and-trails/lodge-little-seneca-creek/) which hosts various social gatherings, as well as a charming corridor of a Creek sharing the same name. After egressing from the Lodge the circuit STEEPLY ascends a hill, disappearing off-trail into the wilderness. Summiting this proud plateau offers vacuous views of the surrounding landscape. The hike then follows a faint fire road, occasionally obstructed by downed trees, revealing a small stream. Navigating away from the stream and towards little Seneca Creek traverses through viny **thorns & brambles!** Latter of the circuit parallels the creek, at times CAUTIOUSLY cliff slide, featuring a delightful Beaver Dam & creek cascade (pictured) before eventually concluding back at the Lodge via lollygagging across a lavish lawn.
