WebAssembly and Embedded Software Development
**About**
Would your embedded product benefit from application logic updates that do not require changes to the full firmware? Or a mechanism for your customers to tweak and extend the functionality of the product? Using their favourite language(s), without proprietary tooling? And all that while your product stays secure, no matter how creative said customers get?
WebAssembly (abbreviated Wasm) might be exactly what you are looking for.
Join us this evening to learn about the state of the art of running WebAssembly on MCUs, and to experience a practical example of a real world, production grade embedded code base targeting WebAssembly and running in a browser.
Merging the two approaches is then left to the visitors as a take-home exercise.
**Presentations**
1. 15’: Welcome (Urs/Reto and SCS)
2. 40’: Browser technology on the MCU? Introduction to WebAssembly, overview of existing embedded runtimes, use cases, discussion. (Pascal Mainini)
3. 30’: Unlocking Bluetooth Connectivity in Browsers: From Sensors to Audio (Matthias Ringwald)
Presentations start at 19:00. Afterwards we’ll have plenty of time to discuss and socialize.
**About the speakers**
* [Pascal Mainini](https://mainini.ch/) is a teacher and researcher at [Berner Fachhochschule](https://www.bfh.ch/en/about-bfh/people/kkmsprgzbqc2/), focussing on the security of embedded systems and the Internet of Things.
* [Matthias Ringwald](https://www.linkedin.com/in/matthiasringwald/) is a Co-Founder of [BlueKitchen GmbH](https://bluekitchen-gmbh.com/) and develops their Bluetooth stack. He knows everything about Bluetooth.

Rigidalstock - Brunni Ferrata Together
A via ferrata is a protected, fixed-cable climbing route that allows people to traverse steep or difficult rocky terrain safely. These routes incorporate steel cables, rungs, ladders, and bridges, which serve as both climbing aids and continuous anchors for a special via ferrata safety set to clip into, blending the experience of hiking and rock climbing.
Last year we struggle in winter time to catch the last cable car, summer time will be better, and we will start early so we have time to jump in the small lake too (optional, weather and temperature dependent)
We plan to do
* The Via Ferrata Brunnistöckli ([https://brunni.ch/60/en/brunnistockli](https://brunni.ch/60/en/brunnistockli)) a K2 if there are beginners that want to learn the basics.
* Then go to the Klettersteig Rigidalstock ([https://brunni.ch/62/en/rigidalstockridge-and-face](https://brunni.ch/62/en/rigidalstockridge-and-face)) a K3
Both are ideal for beginners.

ZH3 Hash # 1732: Street Food Festival
Hare is KTTT.
A short trail followed by expensive beer and street food at the hardturm street food festival.
**Where**:
Bag drop is at the mobility car saved on meetup. Look for English speakers wearing running gear.
**When:**
We'll meet at 6:50 pm to start at 7:00 pm.
There's a charge of CHF 5 for participating, which covers all you can drink beer/cider (and non-alcoholic alternatives) plus snacks afterwards.
**All Welcome:**
If you are new, curious, and want to get out of the house, stretch your legs, talk shit, enjoy a drink, and hopefully a laugh, then here's what you need to know:
• We are a social running/walking group, physical fitness is not required, but a sense of humour is useful.
• The aim is to find the '*Beer Stop*' at the end of the '*trail*' and have fun.
• 'True Trail' is typically 4-7 km. Some will go less (especially those walking or walk/running), and some over-achieving fast runners will go further.
• The '*Hare*', which changes each event (along with location), cleverly lays the trail (typically with flour marks) so that everyone reaches the end at the same time.
• There is always a place to deposit your bag and sometimes a place to change.
• **After Trail**, we group for \~20-40 minutes for drinks, snacks, and some fun. This '*Circle*' is typically outside, so leave something warm in your bag in winter (and bring a flashlight when it's dark). If you don't want to stand around drinking afterwards, you can head home. We occasionally all go to a restaurant afterwards.
**Why bother leaving your warm & dry sofa?**
If you enjoy getting outside, being around people, and doing something a bit different, you will probably enjoy hashing. Exercise is important, and this is probably the least boring way to get it.
'Hashing' and the idea of some physical activity to work up a thirst, have been around for almost 90 years and there are groups (*Hashes*) in most major cities. Its humor and 'traditions' can be explored on the internet - **or you can just come along and find out.** *See you there.*
We are of many nationalities, all ages, full of misfits and idiots (at least there is no one taking themselves seriously!) and always welcome newbies 'Virgin Hashers' and visitors from other groups.

Bikes Before Wine, Gears Before Grapes - The Barns at Hamilton Station
Let's earn this afternoon's wine at The Barns at Hamilton Station with an easy paced bike ride along the W&OD Trail between Hamilton, Purcellville, and Clarks Gap. Since this will be Outdoor Vineyard Visits' first bike ride, we'll be keeping things casual and easy. Starting at the W&OD trail at Hamilton Station Rd, we'll begin with a 7.6 mile out-and-back to the end of the trail in Purcellville. For those that want more, we'll then head east to Clarks Gap for a total of twelve miles. If this pre-winery bike ride goes well, we'll look into doing more in the future including longer & more challenging rides. But today's ride is just for the fun of getting some easy miles in before joining the group up the road at The Barns.
