Curatorial Tour – Instinct#20
Curatorial Tour – Instinct#20
**Curatorial Tour – Instinct#20** for **LGBTQIA+** Free event **Group exhibition** During this **curatorial tour**, we will guide you through artworks that engage with conflict as a generative force and explore “Radical Empathy” as an active, transformative practice. Together, we will consider how empathy can be learned, challenged, and reimagined through queer artistic perspectives. The tour will examine how artists create spaces that embrace difference, resist dominant narratives, and invite us to remain open to discomfort, connection, and change. Moving beyond passive understanding, these works propose empathy as a relational encounter—one that has the potential to reshape how we live with and through conflict. **instinct #20** __ viewing 02.–12. Evening of Meditation - The key to experiencing interconnectedness with nature
Evening of Meditation - The key to experiencing interconnectedness with nature
We are inviting you to our next Evening of Meditation on **Sunday, the 5th of April**. These gatherings are not just about meditating on your own, but a step inward that we take together regarding a particular topic. This time we explore **The key to experiencing our interconnectedness with nature**. Most of us live in cities, spending our days in front of screens or in closed environments, and only occasionally take a walk in a park or go on a hike. Our experience of nature is often limited to a little time off to "recharge our batteries," when in fact, a deeper connection with nature can open up so much more within us. Let’s discover The key to experiencing our interconnectedness with nature. 📍Where: [Yoga Sky](https://maps.app.goo.gl/kBxUvZrqo5yzRNe88?g_st=ipc), Am Tempelhofer Berg 7d, 10965 Berlin Follow the Yoga Sky signs in the yard, and take the elevator to the top floor. 🗓 When: Sunday, 5th of April, 19:00 - 20:30 Please arrive 5-10 min earlier to settle down. 🎟️ Entry: €5, just to pay for the space (in cash or PayPal) For more info go to: [https://onenessberlin.com/](https://onenessberlin.com/) You’re welcome, no matter your background or experience. This is what has worked for us over many years and we love to share it with you. Looking forward to see you, Oneness Berlin Florian, Jazgul & Carla

Traumasensitive Meditation, 1 h – Denizen Coworking
**Meditation – One Hour of Presence (All levels) by STUDIO B (https://www.studio-bewusstseinserfahrungen.de/)** This one-hour meditation session is suitable for beginners as well as experienced practitioners. We begin with a short and gentle breathwork exercise to regulate the body, calm the nervous system, and bring attention inward. This prepares the transition into meditation. This is followed by a 15–20 minute introduction to the meditation practice. During this phase, I explain the core principles of meditation and assign each participant a personal meditation task, tailored to their individual level of experience. The intention of this part is to create clarity, inner orientation, and a sense of safety for the silent practice. We then enter a first phase of silent meditation. After approximately 15–20 minutes, the silence is intentionally interrupted by a short walking meditation. This is not a break, but a conscious transition that integrates the body, releases restlessness, and deepens presence. Afterwards, we return to silent meditation. Each participant practices independently with their personal instruction, within a calm and supportive space. This session invites you to cultivate presence, quiet the mind, and either deepen an existing meditation practice or begin one in a grounded and accessible way. **Open to all levels. No prior experience required.** Payment is for the room. \*\*\* Session structure - **duration: 60 minutes** **1\. Arrival & Breathwork \| 5–7 minutes** Gentle, regulating breathwork to calm the nervous system and gather attention. **2\. Silent Meditation – Phase I \| 15–20 minutes** Guided entry into silent meditation with individual practice. **4\. Walking Meditation \| 5–8 minutes** Mindful walking meditation as a conscious transition. Integration of the body, release of restlessness, deepening of presence. **5\. Silent Meditation – Phase II \| 10–15 minutes** Return to silence. Silent Reading Club
Silent Reading Club
Ditch the old book club, where everyone has to read the same book...this is better! It works like this: Bring your own book. Come chat, have some tea or coffee, get to know your neighbors. Then we quietly read together, side by side, for about one hour, each one reading their own book, and afterwards we talk with each other about what we are reading. The usual agenda: - Arrival and introduction (~20 minutes) - Silent reading (~1 hour) - Discussion (~30-40 minutes) - Join us for a bite at a local restaurant afterwards, if you like! You may read in any language, you may read any book. We are a group of international residents of Berlin from many different countries, of all ages, and we converse in English. We welcome you! No registration needed – the event is donation based. All funds support the Offenes Wohnzimmer.

Reading Shakespeare Socratically (The Merchant of Venice Acts 3, 4, & 5)
Reading Shakespeare Socratically (The Merchant of Venice Acts 3, 4, & 5)
New members are always welcome. It's ok to have missed any or all of the sessions involving other plays. Current Reading: **The Merchant of Venice Acts 3, 4, & 5** Completed Plays: Julius Caesar, The Winter's Tale GUIDELINES: ***Participants should complete the reading before each session. It's no problem not to have understood everything, but without some familiarity with the text prior to meeting it will be difficult to have a conversation.*** ***Also, it's not necessary that English be your first language in order to join, but your command and understanding of English should be that you're able to participate confidently in discussions about ideas, feelings, and abstract things.*** **"Reading Shakespeare Socratically?"** \-\- This means we'll put questions to the text and try to make it speak\, as though it is a living person and we are its interlocutor\. We'll ask it questions about what the text has said and then try to find answers\. Mostly\, this just means having a discussion amongst ourselves but there are a few guidelines that\, in my experience\, have proven immensely helpful to having a substantial conversation: **#1** Avoid Outside Sources; interpretations you read on the internet about what the play really means, academic papers/lectures (unless they are your own), personal stories/anecdotes, biographically-driven analysis of the text, interpolations about Shakespeare's personality, facts about Shakespeare's life., etc. **#2** Try to ground what you say in the text -- it's not necessary to quote something every time you speak, but referencing passages, etc. will create great conversation. **#3** Be conscious of your own speaking time. If there are 10 people and 120 minutes of event time, then people have roughly 12 minutes each to speak. Nobody will keep track, but it' a good reference point to keep in mind. We also strive to practice [the principle of charity when considering another's point of view.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Principle_of_charity) **My Role/About Me:** I will moderate the discussion and begin each session by asking an opening question that should serve as a point-of-entry into the text. I don't posit myself as an expert or authority. Nor do I claim to have the "right" answers, but I do have a lot of experience participating in such discussions and a solid background in reading Shakespeare. This is a free event.

Humanist Program
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event. We will be hearing from Becca Powell, Director of Advocacy and Outreach at Unchained At Last, an organization whose mission is dedication to ending forced and child marriage in the United States through direct services and systems change. Unchained At Last's mission clearly meshes and addresses several of our Humanist Ten Commitments. Becca will educate us about an issue many of us may not be familiar with--but should be. Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk. Going forward our meetings will be hybrid. Free In-Person Meeting: Healing from Trauma and Past Betrayals
Free In-Person Meeting: Healing from Trauma and Past Betrayals
This is a free, in person meeting. Burdened by a stressful relationship? Unhealthy relationships can trigger feelings of anger, despair or self-doubt. They can create dwindling spirals of fights and seeking to make-up, or trying to “pin the blame” on someone or something. If you don’t find the RIGHT reasons, or select the correct sources of the problem, the problem can just get worse and worse. Whether in love or personal ties, with friends or at work, our life really IS affected by the quality of our relationships. Good ones can promote pleasure and survival while less optimum ones can lead to annoyance, anger, self-doubt, stress, or even affect our health and ability to survive well. Whether you are suffering from a divorce, or a painful break-up, don’t know who to trust (or who to CHOOSE) as a partner, friend, boss or employee - the anxiety of relationship troubles can really make a mess of things. Maybe you’ve suffered a betrayal, or are dealing with hostility or criticalness or invalidation. Dwindling relationships can involve destructive behavior, where we hurt those we love, or start succumbing to self-destructive thoughts, attitudes or behaviors that spiral out of control and affect much more than our immediate relationship. Past losses in love or life can affect how we act or react to new people and situations and hold us back from even starting to create new, possibly great relationships! How can one get back onto a saner course of action? Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life: human relationships! Break free from self imposed limitations Here we will discuss: • How to “erase” the trauma of past hurts and betrayals so that one isn’t always repeating past mistakes. • Why and how do the negative emotions of others affect you? • Why is my partner withdrawing and what can I do about it? • Why do we sometimes feel compelled to hurt the ones we love? • Fights & arguments - what's really behind them? • What underlies “corrosive criticism” or the need to invalidate self or others? • How one can stably change one’s outlook on life so they can affect positive change? • Where do compulsive destructive behaviors come from and what can be done about them? • How to form closer bonds & keep growing the relationships with the people you care about? • How to enhance one’s own ability to survive and create positive healthy relationships whether in love, family & friendships or in work, business or one’s career? Relationships can be hard and life itself IS challenging. Why not arm yourself with the knowledge and breakthroughs that have been made about the mind, mental reactions & interpersonal relationships, so that one has better awareness and control over themselves and life in general. Learn where painful experiences are “stored” and how they can unknowingly affect us. You will also find out how one can “erase” those past painful experiences so that one is free to move forward without being tripped up by the past. Learn too, about what can lead some people to become “toxic” personalities and how to identify those traits in others so you won’t be tripped up trusting the wrong person. Our free Meet-ups occur in a safe environment where one can learn, without fear of judgment or criticism, and without the recommendation of harmful mental techniques or therapies, just how YOU can get yourself onto a happier & more successful path: in love & in life. We look forward to having you join us! This class is sponsored by the Dianetics & Scientology Life Improvement Center of Central Ohio.
