The title of this movie is the name of a fictional phone app designed to help blind people. Like the real app on which it’s modeled ([Be My Eyes](https://www.bemyeyes.com/)), the software allows a blind person to contact a sighted volunteer, point the phone at something, and hear a description of what’s on the screen. It’s useful for grocery shopping, walking through unfamiliar territory, reading menus, and hundreds of other daily activities. In this story, the protagonist is a blind teenager who’s fiercely independent. She gets a cat-sitting gig at an isolated mansion, and she uses the app to familiarize herself with the layout and posh amenities. From their newly founded lodge in the Sloughscar Hills, the Starfinder Society studies the Wreck of the Returned, a massive crashed starship the Starfinders believe was dispatched by the long-lost First Ones. Recent excavations into other First Ones sites uncovered powerful weapons, dangerous technology, and volatile magic—incredibly valuable discoveries capable of causing immense harm should they fall into irresponsible hands. While the Starfinder Society would love to enter the Wreck of the Returned directly, the Wreck’s automated defenses and networked robotic servitors make such an expedition incredibly dangerous. Fortunately, the Starfinders have discovered a nearby site of interest: a sizable piece of wreckage which detached during the crash and landed off-site. Cheers Nerdizens, Hope everyone's well. So as luck would have it, I'll hopefully be in DC Saturday, June 20th, to help celebrate and bid farewell to EveryDayPeople DC. My compadre Reg has made the difficult decision to close the place down. As such, Saturday will be there final day open. Reg is a good man who's been getting me slightly inebriated since I moved to DC back in the early 2000's lol. I was there when he first opened EveryDayPeople DC so it's only fitting I celebrate the brother as he closes shop and ventures on to other endeavors. Meet in the parking lot of the Handy Bikes Service Center. At the start of each ride, we'll go over introductions to have a sense of participants' cycling experience. Over the course of our rides, we'll address the following: group riding dynamics; safety (ABC check & trail hazards); gear shifting; hill climbing; audible and hand communication within the group, with other trail users, and automobile drivers; what to bring on each ride; etc... Bring your questions, water & a snack. When it starts getting dark earlier, we'll need lights as well. Helmets a MUST. If you can, and especially if you've had issues with your bike, come a bit early to have it looked at ahead of the ride. PS - all levels are welcome to join, however, be mindful that if you are an experienced rider, please be prepared to ride at the pace of the newest rider in the group. Each week, depending on who's in attendance, and participants' riding ability/comfort level, we may do skills practice as a group in the parking lot or at the west end of Wheeler Ave. Once everyone is comfortable, we'll go for a ride on local trails and neighborhood streets and finish back at the shop.
