Brexiles - English Comedy Night in Zurich Kreis 4
Join three of Switzerland's sharpest comedy imports, all the way from the UK, as they navigate life post-Brexit in the land of cheese, chocolate, and punctuality. Expect a side-splitting evening of biting wit, dark satire, and self-deprecating British humour, as these three exiles attempt to make sense of their Swiss existence while grappling with the baggage of their homeland.
**Tickets: [https://eventfrog.ch/brexiles/](https://eventfrog.ch/brexiles/)**
Do all British people have terrible teeth? Are they all actually addicted to tea? Are the royal family actually peadophile lizards? Does anyone actually care anymore? Come along for answers to these questions and more, and pose your own to our panel of cultural experts\* to win a free drink!
\*mid-aged comedians who used to read the news in the early 2000s
Featuring:
**[Harry FĂŒcks](https://www.instagram.com/harryf.cks/)** is a half-German who grew up in the UK, where he witnessed too many late trains provoking wristwatch-staring fits from his German genes. He later moved to Switzerland, the last place in Europe where trains run on time, to avoid constant triggering. Now over 50, a single dad, and failing to live up to his name, Harry uses comedy as his coping strategy.
**[Jack Roberts](https://www.instagram.com/jackrobertscomedy/)** comes from a long line of pale, broke, miserable northern bastards. Growing up in Manchester he is also exceptionally cool with impeccable taste in music and football. As difficult to understand in English as he is in German, he endeavours to speak clearly about all that is troubling him - join him for crazy antics, high jinks and fun!
**[Shawn Jay](https://www.instagram.com/shawnjaycomedy/)** is a stand-up comedian, writer, and wandering vagabond philosopher who escaped the grim north of England in his early 20s and never looked back. He has toured all over Australia, New Zealand, Asia, and Europe, including a full run at the prestigious Edinburgh Fringe Festival where he premiered his solo show 'A Fun Guide to Nihilism'. Now a regular on the European circuit, his unique brand of thought-provoking humour swings from silly to surreal, tickling your funny bones as well as fingering your brain.
With over 20 years collectively in the biz, this show is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face, and whether you love or hate the British, there is something for everyone.
â
**Reparations Spot**: Each show will feature a guest comedian from a country which was formerly colonised by the British. This is our way of personally apologising for the hundreds of years of murder, subjugation, and terror inflicted upon the peoples of the planet. We hope you agree that we are even now.

**Frequently Asked Questions**
* ***Is the show really in English?*** Absolutely. Every set is performed in English by a mix of Swiss-based and international comics, so no Swiss-German skills required.
* ***Whatâs a âComedy Open Micâ?*** Itâs the testing ground for jokes. Pros road-test fresh material and brave newcomers grab their first five minutes. Expect some gems, some flopsâand the fun of seeing comedy born in real time.
* ***Will it be funny?*** Most of the time, yes! An open mic is a roller-coaster: seasoned acts, new voices, and the occasional glorious train-wreck. Itâs all part of the charm.
* ***Can I perform too?*** Yes - you need to book a spot - find out more about how to do it here: [https://inyourfacecomedy.ch/perform/](https://inyourfacecomedy.ch/perform/).
* ***Do I need to buy tickets in advance?*** Please do. Weâre usually running around before the show and door sales slow things down. If youâre stuck, weâll try, but no promises. Link to tickets as at [https://inyourfacecomedy.ch/comedybrew/](https://inyourfacecomedy.ch/comedybrew/)
* ***How does seating work?*** First come, first served so grab a drink, snag a seat, and settle in.
* ***Is food available at the bar?*** ROBINâs serves drinks only. For a pre-show bite, try **Restaurant Johanniter** (classic Swiss) or **Holy Cow!** across the street for burgers.
* ***Will the comedians pick on me?*** We chat with the crowd for laughs, not humiliation. Friendly banter only - youâre safe.
* ***How long is the show?*** Doors open 7:30pm, show starts \~7:50pm with a 15 min break in the middle ending around 10pm. Enough time for the last trams home...
* ***Age limit?*** All ages welcome of course 16+ recommended (adult themes, spicy language).

ZH3 Hash # 1721: The Gladiator-Chuggins 69th Birthday Hash
Hares are Gladiator and Merry Chuggins. Despite possessing only one braincell between them, these B.I.M.B.Os have somehow not only survived until adulthood, but made it to milestone birthdays! Chuggins is turning 30 and Gladiator will be... very slightly older. The important thing is that for this hash, their combined age will be a glorious 69! So come and celebrate with more shot stops than is really feasible and a karaoke afterparty. Details TBC.
**Where**:
Zurich City Look for English speakers wearing running gear.
**When:**
We'll meet at 6:50 pm to start at 7:00 pm.
There's a charge of CHF 5 for participating, which covers all you can drink beer/cider (and non-alcoholic alternatives) plus snacks afterwards.
**All Welcome:**
If you are new, curious, and want to get out of the house, stretch your legs, talk shit, enjoy a drink, and hopefully a laugh, then here's what you need to know:
âą We are a social running/walking group, physical fitness is not required, but a sense of humour is useful.
âą The aim is to find the '*Beer Stop*' at the end of the '*trail*' and have fun.
âą 'True Trail' is typically 4-7 km. Some will go less (especially those walking or walk/running), and some over-achieving fast runners will go further.
âą The '*Hare*', which changes each event (along with location), cleverly lays the trail (typically with flour marks) so that everyone reaches the end at the same time.
âą There is always a place to deposit your bag and sometimes a place to change.
âą **After Trail**, we group for \~20-40 minutes for drinks, snacks, and some fun. This '*Circle*' is typically outside, so leave something warm in your bag in winter (and bring a flashlight when it's dark). If you don't want to stand around drinking afterwards, you can head home. We occasionally all go to a restaurant afterwards.
**Why bother leaving your warm & dry sofa?**
If you enjoy getting outside, being around people, and doing something a bit different, you will probably enjoy hashing. Exercise is important, and this is probably the least boring way to get it.
'Hashing' and the idea of some physical activity to work up a thirst, have been around for almost 90 years and there are groups (*Hashes*) in most major cities. Its humor and 'traditions' can be explored on the internet - **or you can just come along and find out.** *See you there.*
We are of many nationalities, all ages, full of misfits and idiots (at least there is no one taking themselves seriously!) and always welcome newbies 'Virgin Hashers' and visitors from other groups.
For more about ZĂŒrich Hash House Harriers, check out [www.zh3.ch](http://www.zh3.ch/) ( [http://www.zh3.ch/](http://www.zh3.ch/) )

CMG Gives Back: Serve Brunch at FAITH MISSION GRANT KITCHEN!
Join us as we get together to get together to help those in need at this CMG Gives Back event! We have a great little community of Movie Group friends so rather than see a movie this time, weâll help âcreate a better worldâ by helping serve those in need. Here are complete details and our plan for this event:
FAITH MISSION â GRANT KITCHEN: The Faith Mission kitchen and dining room serves residents 3 meals a day, every day of the year. For this event, our group will help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents in the dining room, wash dishes, and clean surfaces.
PLAN: We will be preparing / serving / cleaning for BRUNCH from 10:30am to 12:30pm and have space for a total of 7 volunteers. Please arrive at 10:20am and wear closed-toe shoes and long pants.
LOCATION: Faith Mission â Grant Kitchen is located at 245 N. Grant Ave. Enter the kitchen at Dock 1 (in the back of the building), indicated in the attached map. On-site parking in the adjacent lot and street parking is available in the surrounding area. Below are some links / attachments with additional info/details:
IMPORTANT REMINDER: Our group will be providing all of the volunteers on this day so a firm RSVP count is essential. Please only sign up if you are certain youâll be able to attend. If something unavoidable comes up, please try to update your RSVP no later than one week prior to the event. With few exceptions, no shows or cancelations within 1
week of the event will not be eligible for future CMG Gives Back events. I appreciate your understanding as we try to ensure the agencies have the volunteers needed to provide the essential services they provide to the vulnerable population they serve. Our Partner Agency for this event is Lutheran Social Services! A huge THANK YOU to all of YOU for volunteering at this (and any of our previous) CMG Gives Back events!
Should be a good/fun/meaningful time together, Dan
Saturday Brunch at The Goat Gahanna
Letâs get together for a relaxed Saturday brunch!
This will be the very first event for our group. Whether youâre looking to meet new friends, get out more, or just enjoy good conversation over brunch, this is the perfect place to start.
Weâll be meeting at The Goat Gahanna for great food, drinks, and a welcoming, no-pressure atmosphere.
Conversacion en español (en persona)
While some are still meeting online, this is an in person event. Please note that we have attendees of all levels of speaking, including some native speakers. All are welcome!
Also, as we meet at the same time and place each week, many donât RSVP on the app, so we will likely have more attendees than noted here.
Note: if you are asked to pay and upgrade the Meetup app, this is not necessary. You can ignore this and still attend our meetings.
Find us on our [Facebook group](https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1EKw86WJCp/?mibextid=wwXIfr).
COUNT monthly event: Kitchen service at Van Buren Center's shelter
Come assist Van Buren Shelter (https://ymcacolumbus.org/locations/vanburen) staff in serving dinners and cleaning up on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Dinner for the women is 5-6 pm and for the families is 6:15-7:15 pm. There is ample free parking available in the shelter's lot. The recommended area to park is in green in the image above.
There will be a new entrance for the time being. We are asking all volunteers to enter through the Donation Dock door, the orange mark on the image above. This door is located between the Single Adults and Family Shelter. You will see 2 large garage doors with a large green trash compactor in the center. Please head to the closest garage door to the building wall, with a ramp leading up. There, you will see a door with a sign stating instructions on how to enter the building. Please ring the doorbell, and a staff member will come and escort you into the building. If a staff member takes longer than 5 minutes, please call the front desk at 614-689-2020. This is a new process for us, and we do not want to keep you waiting! We appreciate your patience as we navigate this temporary change.
The shelter needs a volunteer count the day before the event so sign-up ends Monday at 4:50 PM. Afterwards some of us go to the Omnipresent Atheists Weekly Meetup in progress to have a bit to eat or drink (http://www.meetup.com/omnipresentatheists/).
Volunteers must be 14 or older. Since we will be working around families, the YMCA does not permit volunteering by individuals with convictions for violent or sexual crimes. The YMCA reserves the right to run background checks on volunteers.
For questions, comment on this page or contact: Andrew, awhit12@yahoo.com, (614)937-5802 (cell). Please let Andrew know if you volunteer anytime other than our COUNT events so that he can count your hours toward our service record.
