The Power of a Peaceful Mind
The Power of a Peaceful Mind
In situations of conflict, we easily become angry. However, anger limits us and leaves a trail of painful feelings. On the other hand, the creative mind of patience opens us to options. In this series, we learn to understand and meditate on patience. We will discover how meditation helps us to find peaceful solutions to everyday problems.

Deep Conversations at Bethesda Library
***“I am struck with how rare it is to find a few good friends on the path. It is easy to find people who simply want to sit and be entertained by teachers, or who want to sit and entertain by playing the role of teacher. In other words, the quest for affirmation often outweighs the quest for truth.***
***Yet you may have one or two good friends, and definitely have one or two waiting to be discovered. Find them; be thankful.”***
***— Shawn Nevins***
'What will make me happy in life?' ... 'Am I my thoughts?' ... 'What is Enlightenment?' ... We meet every week to ask questions like these in the pursuit of Self-Knowledge and Truth.
We are interested in topics like: Zen, stoicism, spirituality, psychology, mindfulness, Nisargadatta, non-violent communication, Socrates, existential philosophy, Alan Watts, taoism, Eckhart Tolle, meditation, Ramana Maharshi, etc. But we are not affiliated with any dogma, philosophy, or religion.
Our goal each meeting is to serve as mirrors for one another using question-based inquiry in a safe environment. In a session, every participant takes turns discussing the week's question or topic, and the group asks reflective questions without any agenda besides trying to understand the person's beliefs.
A few other guiding principles of our group:
* No one is obligated to share
* Be honest with yourself and others
* Do not try to convince others to believe or think as you do
* Keep the focus on the person being questioned
We meet at the [Bethesda Library](https://maps.app.goo.gl/GWMozF8zpY1m1PY26) every Monday. Family Constellations workshop with Randy Goldberg
Family Constellation work is a powerful experiential process for discovering the hidden dynamics operating within families and systems. Often the struggles we carry—conflicts, repeating patterns, unexplained emotions, or blocks in life—are not only personal but connected to deeper, unseen loyalties in our family lineage. In a constellation workshop we learn to slow down and look at what actually is, without judgment or blame. By respectfully acknowledging forgotten or excluded members of a system, and by allowing what has been hidden to be seen, the deeper intelligence of the field begins to reveal unexpected solutions.
As order is restored, people often find themselves able to release burdens that were never truly theirs to carry. Unconscious entanglements between victim and perpetrator can soften, making space for dignity and understanding on all sides. Participants frequently experience a renewed sense of belonging—to their family, their life, and their place in the larger human story. Through the shared field of the group, movements toward resolution emerge organically, allowing individuals to step forward with greater clarity, strength, and freedom.
Randy Goldberg, LMT is a graduate of the DC Hellinger Institute, and of advanced studies in Family Constellation with Heinz Stark of Germany. He is a former Yoga monk, Craniosacral therapist, and a world-renowned astrologer (both Western and Vedic) interviewed by the Washington Post, NPR, and CNN. He has facilitated Family Constellation therapy for individuals and groups for more than 20 years. More information at www.randygoldberg.org ; 202-380-6850 or randygoldberg.org@gmail.com

BreadBreakers Community Dinner: Dialogue Over Divisions
**In a time of division and isolation, come be part of the community that's rebuilding the town square, one table at a time.**
In BreadBreakers, we use the common space of the dining table to have conversations where neighbors can **hear, be heard, and know one another.** If you're hungry for good conversation and deeper community, join us for a Community Dinner in Reston and help blaze the trail to a healthier, more connected society and democracy.
Here’s how it works: For just two hours, multiple tables of people set aside the need to "win" and instead focus on sharing, listening, and connecting. Guided by experienced table hosts, we'll tell our stories, try to understand each other, and practice being in community with those with different views or backgrounds.
**At this dinner, participants will get to choose between three different topics, including some current events.** Topics range from the political, to the "slice of life", to the spiritual, to the philosophical, to the off-the-wall - but no matter which table you choose to sit at, you can be sure it'll be like no dinner conversation you've had before! You can also **suggest a topic** by emailing us at BreadBreakersInfo@gmail.com.
Food will be provided for free. For those who wish to provide a donation to help fund BreadBreakers, you can [give here](https://pushpay.com/g/restorationrestonumc?fnd=pO6G-N7oO7FH7Mp1u-x6mA&fndv=Lock&r=No&lang=en&src=pcgl) or at the event.
We'll have vegetarian and gluten-free options available. If you have any additional dietary restrictions (Celiac Disease, vegan, etc.) please let us know at BreadBreakersInfo@gmail.com so that we can implement the appropriate food handling procedures.
**Join us, invite a friend, and be a part of the movement to mend our fractured society and normalize a better way of talking with one another.**
BreadBreakers, an initiative by [Restoration United Methodist Church](https://restorationreston.org/breadbreakers) in Reston, VA, is a religiously inclusive community. All faiths and all stripes are welcomed. Our leadership, volunteer team, and community include people who attend Restoration and people who don't.
Hike: Royce Hanson cnsv. park (NEW to MoCo parks)
**This \~4.5mile easy hike has frequent elevation changes, though is overall relatively flat. Pace: 3mph.** The trek traverses the trails at the NEWLY OPENED [Royce Hanson Conservation park at Broad Run](https://montgomeryparks.org/parks-and-trails/royce-hanson-conservation-park/), in POOLESVILLE, which according to Montgomery Parks is "nestled within Montgomery County’s nationally recognized Agricultural Reserve[.] The Royce Hanson Conservation Park at Broad Run honors the visionary leadership of Dr. Royce Hanson, whose land use strategies helped preserve nearly a third of the county for farming, recreation, and conservation. The park’s landscape tells the story of Montgomery County’s rich agricultural past and its ongoing commitment to sustainable farming. Active agricultural lease areas continue the tradition of working farmland, with hay production and crop rotation integrated into the park’s design."
The hike begins & ends with a curious CORN CRIB creep-- visualize traversing a covered bridge. Afterwards, the trek encircles a benign body of water before winding its way into the woodland. An ARRAY OF ROCKS, possibly indicating Civil War historiography, follows... A fantastic forest frolic!
Latter of the circuit egresses from the tree line, traversing across the open farm fields offering VAST VIEWS of the landscape! **Don Sunglasses, Hat, etc. ("Shade-wear") as the Sun exposure is surely strong onward.** As the hike crosses the park entrance, some COWS & HORSES also come into view. The trek continues meandering through MESMERIZING MEADOWS before concluding by a puny pond, adjacent to a fallen stone foundation.

Build Smarter — Grow Without Burnout | Career Pivot Lessons (Ashburn)
# ✨ Real Founder Lessons for Builders & Career Pivoters (Ashburn)
**Saturday, March 14 • 2–4 PM • Ashburn, VA**
What if growing your work didn’t have to come with constant exhaustion?
This entrepreneur-focused session is a behind-the-scenes conversation about how to build, pivot, and scale **without burning yourself out** — and without chasing work that drains your energy.
Whether you’re launching something new, navigating a career pivot, or rebuilding after a layoff, the principles are the same:
👉 protect your energy
👉 make smarter pivots
👉 build momentum that lasts
👉 apply AI practically to support smarter decisions and workflows
Over 12 years, I’ve launched **7 startups and side hustles** — alongside **21 years in corporate tech leadership**. The biggest lesson wasn’t scaling tactics…
It was learning when to pivot, how to sustain momentum, and how to align what energizes you with what serves your customers — an approach that generated **revenue** in my first full-time year without burnout.
A key part of that evolution has been learning how to integrate AI in grounded, practical ways — helping accelerate testing, decision-making, and workflow clarity without adding complexity.
During this session, I’ll share real founder insights — including a live screen walkthrough — showing how smart pivots happen and what separates intentional growth from reactive hustle.
***
## What We’ll Explore
1. **How to recognize when to pivot — and when to stay the course**
2. **Building energy-first systems instead of burnout cycles**
3. **Founder decision-making under pressure**
4. **Designing work that supports long-term momentum**
5. **Why sustainable growth outperforms hustle culture**
6. **Using AI strategically to support pivots, experimentation, and smarter workflows**
This is not a lecture or pitch — it’s a grounded founder conversation for people who want to grow smarter and build work that lasts.
Expect practical thinking, humor, and takeaways you can use immediately.
***
## Event Details
💵 $20 RSVP — includes coffee + snacks
📍 Ashburn, VA (exact address shared after RSVP)

👥 Max 15 attendees — intentionally small for meaningful conversation

***
## About the Space — Startup Garage Style
Hosted in my early-founder style startup garage — a **bright, spacious, comfortable Ashburn living room** designed for focused conversation and practical learning. These sessions are intentionally intimate — closer to a founder roundtable than a seminar.
***
## Background — Corporate to Founder Journey
After **21 years in corporate tech leadership**, including senior director role, I transitioned into full-time entrepreneurship, building on years of startup and side-hustle experience.
If you’re exploring a career pivot or next chapter, you’ll find this conversation highly practical.

Empowering Women to Refine Work–Life Balance from the Inside Out
Women are constantly giving, at work, at home, in relationships, and in service to their communities. But who supports the woman behind it all?
This session invites women to pause, reflect, and reset. We’ll explore how to move beyond burnout and into balance, not by doing more, but by being more intentional.
Together we will:
* Identify hidden stress patterns and energy drains
* Learn mindfulness practices to restore calm in real time
* Create a personalized “inner balance” plan
Join us to celebrate Women’s History Month by honoring your own well-being! Leave feeling clearer, lighter, and empowered to thrive, not just survive.
