She was born and raised in Mexico into the tradition. She started working full-time as a Curandera in the 1980’s. In the late 90’s she moved to the UK and then to California (USA) where she kept her practice and started to teach Mexican Shamanism and Curanderismo and other spiritual modalities. Now not only does she teach in California, but also in other states and countries. It is important to know that she is not an anthropologist or historian. Paloma learned from her teachers in the ancient way, “oral tradition”. \*IMPORTANT NOTE: Paloma is a Mexican Shaman who believes that "medicine plants" are helpful to some people only when used properly in ceremonies. The use of any conscious expanding plant or animal medicines should only be used with the strict and loving guidance of an experienced facilitator. About Brent Kimbrough: he is an accomplished guitarist, singer, composer and bandleader from Chicago, U.S. He has performed nationally across the U.S. and internationally in Amsterdam, Beijing, Guadalajara, Madrid, Paris, Shanghai, Singapore and more. His band, Brent Kimbrough & Company recently released their fourth studio album, *12th* *Street Serenade* to critical acclaim. Brent’s musical journey began at the age of 11 on Chicago’s southwest side when he was given his first guitar. After swiftly absorbing his fundamentals, Brent began studying classical guitar and later jazz, rock and R&B. Brent’s father, who migrated to Chicago from the cotton fields of Mississippi in 1950 instilled in him a great passion, respect for the blues. Brent has studied with Chicago’s greatest music educators, composers and performers including Larry Gray, John Moulder and David Bloom in addition to New York guitarist Gene Bertoncini and master courses with Pat Martino, Mike Stern, Dave Liebman and more. Our Curanderimo Elder Ixtoii Paloma Cervantes will be traveling to Virginia and teaching this in person two day candle magic workshop where you will learn the traditional Curanderismo way of using candles for bringing blessings and healings. You will learn how to prepare them, how to use them to manifest what you want in life, how to see if they are working or not, and how to read them in the Curanderismo ways. Important Note: The purpose of this workshop is to enhance spiritual growth and well-being. Inspired by our successful events like "Saturday Mornings @ East Market" and other "Pot Luck in the Park" lunches, this gathering promises to be a blend of fun conversations, language exchange, and cultural insights, all while sharing wonderful foods with each other. Please bring a dish to share and anything you would like to drink. We will provide plates, plastic silverware and napkins. So, come hungry and ready to chat!

The Forge does have a full bar and kitchen. There is no cover charge but they do request all attendees to purchase a minimum of ~$20 per person. Soft drink refills are $1 each. Please support our hosts so we can continue to provide great events for the group! The Forge has a large library of games available for us to enjoy. Hosts and regulars will also provide numerous popular games but please bring any games you would like to teach and/or play. Doors open at 6, and we expect gaming to be rolling by around 630.
