Hola a tod@s, Soy Miguel, Doctor en Historia Contemporànea y animador de este grupo de meet up. En esta ocasión os invito a encontrarnos para realizar la ruta dedicada a La II REPÚBLICA Y LA GUERRA CIVIL EN BARCELONA. Esta es la segunda de las rutas de la trilogía dedicada a la historia social de Barcelona en el siglo XX. Los que ya me conocéis sabéis que es uno de los temas que más me apasiona y he trabajado sobre ello publicando varios artículos y un libro. En esta ruta intentaré transmitiros todo lo que he aprendido mientras recorremos juntos los escenarios de los episodios más apasionantes de la historia de la II República y la Guerra Civil. Entre otras cosas nos sorprenderemos descubriendo los paralelismos con los tiempos recientes, conociendo qué ocurrió en el pasado cuando Cataluña se proclamó República (en 1931 y en 1934) y veremos cual fue la reacción del gobierno español. Conoceremos de cerca las huellas que dejó la revolución social de 1936 en Barcelona, así como las cicatrices que aún perduran en la ciudad fruto de los bombardeos durante la guerra. Eso y mucho más. Dale Gnidovec, Curator of the Orton Hall Museum of Geology at The Ohio State University, will be presenting a program he has wanted to share with us for a long time: Plate Tectonics. His description of his program: Continents on the move - Nothing in Earth history makes sense without moving continents - it tells us why mountains, volcanoes, minerals, and fossils are where they are. This talk examines the evidence for continental drift, why it was disbelieved, and explains how the more-encompassing theory of plate tectonics was developed and eventually proven. Dale is an energetic, incredibly knowledgeable, and very entertaining speaker and this will be another wonderful program by Dale. Hope to see you there! Food and drinks will be provided at the event.
