Sideways on Steeles: Koreatown to Jewish town (6.2 km)
Yonge and Steeles is at the centre of Koreatown North and Little Persia. Bathurst and Steeles is the heart of the Russo-Jewish community in the GTA. This hike covers the transition zone between the two. We'll also make a detour to Westminster Creek at the edge of the neighbourhood.
Unsurprisingly, the food here is Korean, Persian, Russian, and Ashkenazi Jewish. There are also two Georgian bakeries—Georgian cuisine is popular in the former Soviet bloc.
The hike ends at Bathurst and Steeles, where there are also Vietnamese and Turkish restaurants thrown in the mix. The most interesting option in the area is probably jumbo Korean dumplings and hand made noodles, one of the best in the region.
This is not a religious or political event.
**Highlights**
1. Galleria supermarket (depart 6:30pm)
2. Sababa Fine Foods / JungSooNe Bonga
3. Sunny Dragon Restaurant
4. Synagogues and cemeteries
5. Tov-Li / Bathurst Village Market (depart 7:22pm)
6. Harryetta Gardens / Westminster Creek
7. Puri Georgian Bakery
8. Vietnoms / Pho Viet Xpress
9. Myeongdong Gyoza Kalguksu (arrive 8:20pm)

**How it works**
Hike starts punctually. Late or can't do the whole route? Meet us at scheduled checkpoints.
We'll browse many food places but won't linger long. Grab ready-made food, or see the route in advance, organize takeout, then pickup along the way.
Not sure what to try? Join our omakase for $5, which gives a tiny sample from different restaurants. Payment on the day of event by cash or e-transfer to [globaltorontoeats@gmail.com.](http://globaltorontoeats@gmail.com.) No refunds after orders are placed. Details of sampled food will be uploaded after the hike.
Limited cutlery provided. Highly recommended to bring cutlery and containers for omakase and bringing back leftovers.

🌿🌊 TOMMY THOMPSON PARK WALK & LIGHTHOUSE ADVENTURE (12KM) 🌊🌿
🌿🌊 TOMMY THOMPSON PARK WALK & LIGHTHOUSE ADVENTURE 🌊🌿
Wildlife, Skyline Views & One of Toronto’s Most Unique Nature Escapes
If you’ve never been to Tommy Thompson Park before, it honestly doesn’t feel like Toronto.
Stretching out into Lake Ontario, Tommy Thompson Park is one of the city’s best places to experience nature, open space, and some surprisingly stunning skyline views. Known for birdwatching, wildlife, and peaceful trails, the park is home to over 300 species of birds and has become one of Toronto’s most important urban nature areas.
And somehow… even with the city skyline right beside you, it can feel incredibly quiet out there.
This is a longer social walk focused on nature, conversation, and exploring some of the park’s hidden corners together.

Sometimes the chats after the walk become the best part of the day.

Root & Rise
ROOT & RISE™
Summer Solstice Observance
☀️ Witness the Light ☀️
The Summer Solstice marks the longest day of the year and the height of the sun’s journey across the sky.
For thirteen weeks, we have been rooting, growing, unfolding, and remembering.
Now we arrive at a threshold.
This week, rather than gathering in our usual circle, I invite you to spend some time in quiet relationship with yourself and the season.
If you are able, greet the sunrise.
Step outside.
Stand at a window.
Sit in your garden.
Light a candle.
Offer a prayer.
Take a mindful walk.
Or simply pause for a few moments and notice the light.
The invitation is not to do more.
The invitation is to witness.
To witness what has grown.
To witness what has softened.
To witness the woman you have become.
Nature teaches us that growth is not constant movement.
Nature also pauses.
Seeds germinate beneath the soil.
Fruit ripens slowly.
Integration matters.
As we cross into the season of summer, may we honour both the light around us and the light within us.
There will be no live circle this week.
Instead, allow this day to be your circle.
Allow the sun, the earth, the trees, the wind, and your own heart to be your companions.
A reflection image with journal prompts is shared below for those who wish to continue the conversation with themselves.
✨
The following week will be a week of rest and integration.
We will gather again on July 5th as we begin our next thirteen-week seasonal journey from the Summer Solstice to the Autumn Equinox.
With gratitude for this season and for each woman who has walked beside us.

Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for June is "Roadtrip"
Speak Easy: true stories, told live.
The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast.
Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect.
The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!

BAD WEATHER CANCEL (usually by 4pm)
