🌸🌳 **CHERRY BLOSSOMS IN HIGH PARK WALK** 🌳🌸 Spring Blooms, Early Morning Magic & A Park in Full Colour This is one of those events where timing is everything. For a short window each spring, High Park transforms into one of the most beautiful spots in the city — with cherry blossoms in full bloom and people coming from everywhere to see them. And yes… it gets *busy*. That’s why we’re going early. The cherry trees in High Park were originally gifted in 1959 by the citizens of Tokyo, through Ambassador Toru-Hagiwara, as a symbol of friendship and appreciation. Many were planted along the hillside near Grenadier Pond, and over time, the display has grown into the iconic spring event we know today. This is not a formal tour. The topic for May is "Ink" Speak Easy: true stories, told live. The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast. Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect. The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. He's got a couple close friends, a steady paycheck working for a regional airline, and of course, for a few glorious days each Fall, college football tailgates. He considers himself to be a mostly lucky guy -- despite the fact that he's suffered from a debilitating disease since he was a small child, one that has left him unable to speak or to move without a wheelchair. Largely confined to his home, Daniel spends the hours he's not online communicating with irate air travelers observing his neighborhood from his front porch. One young woman passes by so frequently that spotting her out the window has almost become part of his daily routine. Until the day he's almost sure he sees her being kidnapped.
