Camping Cake - Bushcraft Bake Off
Camping Cake - Bushcraft Bake Off
If you are anything like me, you wouldn't want to do anything else on your birthday but be outdoors right? Whether by yourself or with friends, a birthday wouldn't be a birthday without cake! Wouldn't you love to know how you can muster up a cake while you are out in the field? And if you are wondering, is this even possible? I can confirm, after doing a bit of research, forking hell, you absolutely can! So come and bake a bushcraft cake with us! It's easier than you think. You only see people cooking savoury dishes or packet desserts. Baking (or steaming) a cake will come in handy one day to celebrate any occasion and actually be great fun to learn. This event is on the same day as Phil's birthday - hence the theme! Happy birthday Phil 🥳. He is a much loved member of the group and friend. THE RULES 🤓 🎂It has to be a cake of some description. Any cake. It can be as small or as big as you like 🎂You can bring pre-prepared mixtures, icings and toppings from home if you want. You can even use packet mixes. It just has to be cooked and assembled on site in camping cookware. 🎂You have to cook it on a stove - any portable cooking stove or fire. No ground fires please. 🎒WHAT YOU WILL NEED ▫️Ingredients ▫️Portable stove or fire ▫️Camping cookware & utensils ▫️Camping chair or sit pad ▫️Snacks ▫️Water ▫️First aid kit ❌ NO PEANUTS 📍Braintree (exact location tbc) 📅 5th April ⌚1pm - 4.30pm 💳 FREE I have deliberately excluded recipes! This is to increase the chances of us all baking something different. Your cake does not need to be perfect, we're just going to experiment, have fun and learn together. Please note - this event is not a formal training event. I am not an expert in baking bushcraft cakes. This is a fun, collaborative, peer-led event rather than an instructional workshop. Attendees are responsible for their own participation and safety. If you have any questions or tips, please leave a comment. Alternatively, you can mesaage me. I'd love to hear from you, Cake it easy, Jo 🌳
Free Human Towers Rehearsal + Social (Sunday)
Free Human Towers Rehearsal + Social (Sunday)
Sunday rehearsal with Castellers of London. Meet us at the OBC Community Centre to help build human towers! This get together is a great opportunity for you to meet new friends, socialise and have a go and explore your abilities as a human tower builder a.k.a Casteller! For newcomers we have a team of trained Castellers who will introduce you to the group, guide you through the activity and help you safely take part in this unique Catalan tradition. When you arrive just approach us as we are really friendly! If in doubt ask for Cuss! Please let us know if you are bringing guests. After the rehearsal we go to a nearby pub for social drinks where everyone is welcome :) What do you need? 1. Ideally a cotton shirt: to protect your neck and shoulders, the more durable the shirt/top the better. We do not recommend any thin items of clothing! 2. Jeans: allowing you to move freely without breaking. 3. Mask: We still require the use of a mask as you will be very close to your fellow Castellers - basically you will be hugging people! The rest of the equipment is on us! We take health and safety very seriously, both in relation to COVID-19 and also the activity- please be assured that the safety of all participants is of the utmost importance to us and we take all necessary precautions to minimize the risk, ensuring we all have a great time! Our regular members won't be filling in the Meet Up to say they are going 🙂 So don't be put off if you see only a handful have said they are going. A minimum of 25 on the day is normal. What the Meet Up may show is how many new people like yourself are going.

Rock N Roll Showbiz Tour: Music, Radio, Theatre, Media, Film & TV + Drinks
Rock N Roll Showbiz Tour: Music, Radio, Theatre, Media, Film & TV + Drinks
If you’re artistic and creative — or were always that kid who dreamed of working in exciting sexi professions of entertainment, fashion, music or the performing arts — then this will be right up your street! An insider showbiz and entertainment walk led by someone who’s lived inside the industry - a radio music founder, presentator and club DJ, a former Correspondent for a global News Agency bigger than the BBC, an advertising / media agency exe, a red-carpet luxury fashion brand strategist and a failed boy band muscian (I still got the spiked hair!). So you can expect stories to be told with real passion, authenticity, personality and first hand knowledge... This 90 mins backstage wander will take you straight through London’s creative arts & entertainment industry showbiz bloodstream. We’re talking live broadcasting nerve centres, global pop stars, legendary stages, Hollywood hideouts, iconic comedy clubs, ad agencies that won general elections (think Nigella Lawson), recording studios, fashion designers, radio powerhouses, and the secret corners where reputations are negotiated over overpriced cocktails — all set against the music soundtrack of a city that’s launched everything from Britpop to boybands to global club culture. You’ll hear where the UK’s biggest radio stations broke chart‑toppers annd turned unknowns into global popstars, where stars of the film and stage made their name, how certain streets shaped entire genres, how comedians went from dingy basements to national treasures, and why London’s music scene has always been the city’s loudest, messiest, most influential creative engine in the world This free tour will unapologetically appeal to: * **Pop‑culture lovers** who treat celebrity interviews and album drops like sacred texts * **Creatives & media people** who love a bit of insider sparkle and know the difference between a PR stunt and a genuine cultural moment * **Entertainment Culture lovers** who collect fun facts from music, film, art and can name their favourite live performance of all time * **People working in or have a passion for films, theatre, radio, music, comedy, TV, dance, media, advertising** (**e,g M&C Saatchi)**, **performing arts** and everything in between * Anyone craving something different and creative yet authentic, fun with just the right amount of chaos Expect a crowd that gets excited about the things normal people pretend not to care about — iconic ad campaigns, legendary performances, scandalous headlines, radio gossip, film magic, music history, and the beautiful mess of how culture actually gets made. You’ll walk, you’ll laugh, you’ll learn things you absolutely did not expect, and you’ll leave feeling like you’ve unlocked a secret level of London — the one where the stories, the scandals, and the soundtracks all collide Lucas — The Entertainment Mongul

Backgammon at Gest on 5 April, Euston Sq St. Social Dinner n Drinks - 20pc off
Backgammon at Gest on 5 April, Euston Sq St. Social Dinner n Drinks - 20pc off
Date/Time: Sunday 5 April 2026, 3 – 8pm (and likely a few hours beyond!) 20% off food and drink for our group First-timers: please see notes below on the Meetup fee, bringing boards, etc ☺️ Dear Backgammon Lovers, Another big hug and thank you to Lydia for covering backgammon last Sunday at Gest. We’re delighted to announce another gathering at Gest again, literally just next to one of Euston Square's tube exits. Gest has become a favourite spot for our lively and friendly backgammon gatherings, offering us more space and a relaxed atmosphere, with warm and welcoming staff. Social Backgammon Whether you’re a seasoned player or completely new, everyone’s welcome. Our Sunday afternoon offers a mix of friendly competition, laughter and the occasional lucky double six. Add alongside this, the food, drinks and easy conversation, and you’ve got the makings of a relaxed afternoon rolling dice into a fun evening. 20% off food and drink In order for us to be at Gest, we must each order at least one drink, possibly two, and if possible one of their meals - I can highly recommend their chicken burger. This will help us to maintain such a generous deal in a comfortable atmosphere. Gest has generously offered our group 20% off food and drink for this event. About Our Backgammon Group Our group started in June 2015 and has now run more than 400 official meetups plus over 200 informal gatherings. With just over 2,000 members, we’re the largest backgammon group in the UK, and we're known for our warmth, humour and friendliness. We typically meet fortnightly on Sundays, with around twenty or so regulars along with new players each time. Everyone is welcome, whatever your level. Dinner, drinks and playing time We usually sit down for a relaxed group meal around 6pm, but you’re free to order whenever it suits you. Many people arrive early, stay late, and dip in and out of games between food and drinks. RSVP Please RSVP as soon as you can, as it really helps with planning, especially at this popular venue. Bring your own board If you have a backgammon board, please bring it. If you don’t, just post a note on the Meetup page or message me and we’ll match you up. It’s always fun to see the variety of boards people bring along. Meetup fee £4 per person. This small contribution helps pay Meetup, cover tip, admin, hosting and other organisational costs that keep the group running smoothly. Etiquette Let’s keep things friendly and respectful over the board, and please thank the lovely Gest staff for hosting us. If anything crops up during the event, just have a quiet word with me. Backgammon rules We play under international backgammon tournament rules, with one or two minor exceptions. Full details are on our Meetup page. Contact If you need help finding the venue or have any questions, call or text me on 07956 263451. Please avoid sending Meetup messages within two hours of start time, as they may not be seen in time. Looking forward to rolling dice and sharing another brilliant Sunday with you all – and to celebrating the New Year at Gest for the fifth time. Best wishes, Chris Sattaur 🤗

Free in-person event: Take Control of Your Mental Health
Free in-person event: Take Control of Your Mental Health
It’s time to take control of your mental health. How do you get rid of stress, anxiety and uncertainty? These emotions are buried deep in your reactive mind. Find out what the reactive mind is, and in the process find yourself. Have you ever suffered from a traumatic experience, a deep loss or been through a painful breakup? Has your ability to communicate suffered as a result? And after that, even though you "moved on" did you find that things were never quite the same? Have you ever looked at childhood photos, or reminisced your early life and wondered where that happiness and spark went? Are your emotions out of your own control? Have you ever felt, even if you aren’t aware of it, that possibly you are getting in your own way of your happiness and success? How does this affect your self-confidence? Find out what is at the root of all stress, anxiety, depression and self-doubt. Find out how and why you hold yourself back from achieving your goals and having the life you have dreamed of. As soon as you learn what is at the root of these unwanted conditions, you’ll see it is something you can DO something about. You will not be labeled or categorized at this MeetUp.
