Resonance & Ritual: Candle-Lit Sound Journey with Tea Ceremony
*An intimate evening for deep rest, reflection, and renewal.*
**Resonance and Ritual: Sound Journey & Tea Ceremony**
Step out of the Hong Kong work rhythm and into an evening of nervous system restoration, deep presence, and gentle connection. **Resonance and Ritual** is a small-group sound journey and tea ceremony created especially for busy professionals who want to slow down without “checking out” of their lives.
We’ll begin with a candle lighting intention ritual. Then we'll gently settle into a guided sound journey using sound bowls, chimes, and other soothing instruments to help your body release tension and your mind soften out of work mode. From there, we transition into a mindful tea ceremony, inviting you to experience tea as a grounding ritual — one sip, one breath, one shared moment at a time.
This experience is ideal if you:
* Feel mentally and emotionally drained from long workdays
* Find it hard to switch off, even when you’re home
* Miss feeling present, connected, and at ease in your own body
**What’s included**
* Guided sound journey (approx. 40 minutes)
* Mindful tea ceremony with high-quality loose-leaf tea
* Mats/props provided (you may bring your own if you prefer)
* A calm, supportive space to integrate and reflect
**Event details**
* Date: Friday, 29th May
* Time: 7:00 - 8:30 PM
* Venue: Sacred Space Therapy and Wellness Studio, Cheung Sha Wan
* Capacity: Limited to 7 participants for depth and comfort
* Exchange:

Easy Walk/Ruck @ Kowloon
**Location:** Kowloon
**Duration:** 90 Minutes
**Difficulty:** Accessible to ALL (Self-paced intensity)
***
**The Mission**
In the world of first responders, "slow is smooth, and smooth is fast." While high-intensity training gets the glory, **Zone 2 Heart Rate training** is the silent engine that powers human performance.
This session, hosted by **TacticalFitnessHK**, is designed to build your aerobic base—the foundation that allows you to recover faster, stay calm under pressure, and sustain physical output for longer durations without burning out.
### What to Expect
This is not a "balls-to-the-wall" sprint session. We are training for **longevity and resilience**.
* **Briefing (10 mins):** We’ll start with a short talk from our founders (local first responders) on why aerobic capacity is critical for emergency preparedness and mental clarity.
* **The "Talk Test" Jog/Walk (60 mins):** We will move as a group in Kowloon. The goal is to keep your heart rate between **60-70% of your maximum**. You should be able to hold a full conversation—this is where the community building happens!
* **Knowledge Share & Cool Down (20 mins):** We’ll wrap up with light mobility work and a Q&A session on emergency kits, situational awareness, and staying "ready" in an urban environment like Hong Kong.
***
### Why Zone 2?
For first responders and prepared citizens alike, Zone 2 training:
1. **Improves Mitochondrial Efficiency:** Teaches your body to burn fat as a primary fuel source.
2. **Enhances Recovery:** Helps clear lactate faster after high-intensity bursts.
3. **Protects the "Soul":** Lower-intensity steady-state movement is proven to reduce cortisol (stress) and improve mental health.
### Who Should Join?
**Everyone.** While we are founded by first responders to support the frontline assets, we believe a resilient city requires a resilient community. Whether you are a seasoned athlete or just starting your fitness journey, we welcome you to join our ranks.
### What to Bring
* Comfortable running/walking shoes.
* A heart rate monitor or smartwatch (optional—we can teach you the "Talk Test" method).
* Water (hydration is key even at lower intensities).
* An open mind and a spirit for community.
***
**Ready to build your foundation?** Click "Join" to reserve your spot. We train rain or shine.

“Scenes of Bohemian Life” is a work by Henri Murger, published in 1851.
a collection of loosely related stories, all set in the Latin Quarter of Paris in the 1840s, romanticizing bohemian life in a playful way.
2 operas were later based on the novel and play, *La bohème* by Giacomo Puccini in 1896 and *La bohème* by Ruggero Leoncavallo in 1897. Puccini's became one of the most popular operas of all time, spawning several later works based on the same story.

The Quiet Years at One Shot Saturday (Tabletop RPGs)
**The Quiet Year** is a map game. You define the struggles of a community living after the collapse of civilization, and attempt to build something good within their quiet year. Every decision and every action is set against a backdrop of dwindling time and rising concern.
The game is played using a deck of cards – each of the 52 cards corresponds to a week during the quiet year. Each card triggers certain events – bringing bad news, good omens, project delays and sudden changes in luck. At the end of the quiet year, the Frost Shepherds will come, ending the game.
The Quiet Year occupies an interesting space – part roleplaying game, part cartographic poetry.
We'll be running two tables of this GMless story telling game.
WHAT IS ONE-SHOT SATURDAY?
It's a weekly meet-up in Sheung Wan/Central, focusing on indie games and single-session games (one-shots). 而家所有游戏係英文嘅但如果你要嚟玩中文游戏,我哋會無任歡迎。只要湊啱玩家就行!
You can drop in and play at any One-Shot Saturday – you do not need to have played in a previous session or commit to playing again. Whether you've played an RPG before or not, you're welcome to join us.
Please arrive on time as once the games begin it becomes difficult to properly introduce latecomers.
Join the conversation, make plans, suggest games to play, etc. —

WHAT IS A TABLETOP RPG?
It's a game in which you never know where the next stop will be, because it’s all down to the decisions you and your fellow players make. Usually one person is the Game Master (or "GM"). Everyone else will be players, taking the role of the characters in the game. The players get to say what their characters say, think, and do. The GM describes everything else in the world.
Then... we play to find out what happens. The game is a conversation: I say something, then you reply, maybe someone else chimes in. We talk about what's happening to the characters we imagine and the world around them. We also talk about the rules, which help us decide what happens next if the next step is in doubt. The rules differ from game to game: some use dice to shape the story, others use cards or something else. It's always a conversation, though.

Shut Up & Write!™ Easton Town Center
We'll meet at The Capital One Café, 167 Easton Town Center, Space A-103. This is in the main mall where the Microsoft store used to be, on your left if you're standing at the bottom of the AMC Theater escalator.
Join us on Saturday for an hour of uninterrupted wordmaking!
• What we'll do
Join us for an hour of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at 10AM on Saturday mornings.
Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.
SCHEDULE:
10:00 - SESSION 1: quick intros.
10:10 - timer starts: write for 1 hour.
11:10 - chat / take off / keep writing.
OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 11A-11:30ish. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing.
BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check-in with me after the session. (I’ll be the person with the Shut Up & Write! sign.) If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer.
Happy writing and I look forward to seeing you!
• What to bring
Whatever you need to be able to write!
Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block noise or the occasional conversation by other patrons. Electrical outlets are limited, so charge your devices before whenever possible.
See you at The Café on Saturday!
Pop-up Book Club 4: Going to Meet The Man, stories by James Baldwin
Let’s meet and share discussion of the James Baldwin short story collection, Going to Meet The Man.
Shut Up & Write! Kingsdale Shopping Center
Greetings writers! Come down and join your fellow wordsmiths for one hour of uninterrupted writing time in the upper level of the Market District Supermarket in Upper Arlington.
The main entrance of the shopping center opens onto stairs/elevator leading up to the 2nd floor cafe section where we will have a table displaying a sign with the Shut Up & Write logo.
Writing is largely a solitary craft. Practicing with others in a community setting may be the thing you need to fire your own routine.
We’ll meet on Wednesday evenings, starting the clock at 6:30, following a brief period of introductions. This is solid writing time and all inclusive. Any project is acceptable, be it fiction, non -fiction, work or homework assignment. All is welcome and will remain private to you.
The market boasts a Starbucks, a full service bar and various affordable food options. Parking is plentiful, free Wifi is provided as well as outlets for charging your devices, though they are somewhat limited, so plan accordingly.
Show up as early as you like, or stay late. This group tends to socialize some, both before and after the alloted time, but this is not mandatory to you. Feel free to come and go as you please and late arrivals are welcome.
The cafe may be noisy on occasion so headphones/ earbuds are reccommended as you see fit.
Please try to RSVP if possible so that we may grab enough seats for all—the venue can be busy at times.
Feel free to message me privately wth any questions and/ or concerns you may have.

Book summary:
On a hot day in Bethlehem, a twelve-year-old Palestinian-American girl is yelled at by a group of men outside the Church of the Nativity. She has exposed her legs in a biblical city, an act they deem forbidden, and their judgement will echo on through her adolescence. When our narrator finally admits to her mother that she is queer, her mother's response only intensifies a sense of shame: 'You exist too much,' she tells her daughter. Told in vignettes that flash between the U.S. and the Middle East--from New York to Jordan, Lebanon, and Palestine--Zaina Arafat's debut novel traces her protagonist's progress from blushing teen to sought-after DJ and aspiring writer.
