Tue. Cafe Writing/Sharing Session
Tue. Cafe Writing/Sharing Session
We are writers of all levels – beginners to published. And we meet at STARBUCK at IFC (P2 Shop2097-2098, International Finance Centre), Central for fun writing and sharing sessions! We all write a one-sentence prompt, then each select one at random. We write something based on the prompt for 45 minutes, after which, we share our work with each other and discuss as desired. Of course, sharing is optional but encouraged. (Feedback is always polite and respectful.) Alternatively, you can bring your own project(s) to work on in the company of fellow writers (published and yet-to-be published). You can share your project(s), too, if you want. It's all about creativity and productivity in a supportive environment! Any questions, just reach out to our organizers through Meetup.

\*\*\*please register your session to attend\*\*\* Hi 👋🏼 Yogis I am yoga instructor Sophia. As a new yoga teacher (200 YTT certified), I’m excited to share the practice of stretching and Hatha Yoga with others, guiding you through mindful breath and purposeful movement. We’ll explore foundational poses, gentle alignment, and slow, steady stretches that honor your body's limits while inviting greater flexibility and balance. My intention is to create a supportive space where we practice together, learn from each other, and cultivate calm, focus, and presence both on and off the mat. Whether you’re new to yoga or returning after a pause, we’ll move at a comfortable pace, listen to our bodies, and celebrate small progress as we grow. FitFam is a welcoming community for fitness enthusiasts, including yoga lovers, to connect and make new friends, regardless of background or language.😇😁 The event is free. All you need to do is * Bring your own yoga mat * small towel to assist with stretching * wear comfortable outfit 🩷 We’ll meet at the wood deck by the waterfront of Tamar Park. Please look for the one right after passing the big lawn of Legislative Council Complex. Arrive a few minutes early, so we can greet each other and settle in before we start moving and breathing together. Write Night in HK!
Write Night in HK!
Welcome to Write Night in HK! This is an evening writing group with an after-work drink! We'll meet at Yardley Taproom in Central (62 Peel Street), as they typically have a pretty good and chilled out vibe in the week-day evenings. We write and we share writing - please bring 6-8 printed copies of your work (max 2 pages). The evening group will run differently from the daytime group - we'll do some writing and give each other feedback on our own prior work. So, the evening will go in two parts: 1. We start with a 20 min writing exercise, based on a prompt - bring something to write or type on! Then we'll share and give feedback. 2. We go over any written material you've done before and care to share with us: 2 x full printed pages at most (maybe a bit more if spaced out, such as with poetry). Please bring around 6-8 print-outs. Remember that the place may be a bit noisy - so may be hard for people to hear you if you read your work out loud to others on the night. A note on feedback - please be prepared to offer constructive, nice and supportive feedback. No 'brutal honesty' please. Most people are just getting started, and positive support is the order of the night for this group. The official finish time is 9pm, but feel free to hang around for a bit of mid-week socialising with fellow creatives if you like. Many thanks, and have a great night! Cheers, Roger
Night Owl Write Night
Night Owl Write Night
Join us for a **casual, low-structure, relaxed** 1.5-hour writing meetup designed for writers who want to connect with others in a supportive, no-pressure environment to come and go as you wish, whenever. Whether you're a poet, novelist, blogger, or write in non-natural languages, we welcome every night owl! **What to Expect:** Nothing structured, this is a casual Schelling point for people who happen to write at night. If you are looking for a large group, high-effort, strongly organised event, this is probably not the one for you. If there are new members joining us, we'll start with some introductions, dive into focused writing time on your personal project, and then, optionally, share a short reflection about our writing at the end. **What to Bring:** * A writing project * Something to write with (notebook and pen, laptop, tablet - whatever you prefer) * A curious mind **Finding Us:** Look for the corner table
Informal Filmmakers Meetup & Drinks
Informal Filmmakers Meetup & Drinks
We will be meeting at Forever Lounge in Causeway Bay on Sunday, May 17th. We will begin with informal introductions, where you will have the opportunity to talk about yourself and your background, experiences and/or goals). Your host Ben will introduce a new topic (this week we will discuss different ways of lighting a scene on a zero-low budget), and finally we will wrap up by discussing any projects we are working on or would like to get started. The emphasis is always on the creative, artistic, and collaborative aspects of filmmaking. All are welcome, and no experience is necessary. Questions and opinions are always encouraged. If you have any materials (scripts, showreels, raw/edited footage, etc.) that you would like to share, please feel free to bring it along, but all you will need is enthusiasm and confidence! Forever Lounge is near Tin Hau MTR station (exit A1), at 176-178 Causeway Road, Causeway Bay 銅鑼灣銅鑼灣道176-178號地舖 [Forever Lounge - Western Wine Bar in Causeway Bay Hong Kong | OpenRice Hong Kong](https://www.openrice.com/en/hongkong/r-forever-lounge-causeway-bay-western-wine-r18523)

Queer Bookclub #36– „The Song of Achilles‘ by M. Miller
Join us for dinner and discussion about queer books! For our next book, we will be reading **“The Song of Achilles”** by **Madeline Miller**. **Blurb:** Achilles, "the best of all the Greeks," son of the cruel sea goddess Thetis and the legendary king Peleus, is strong, swift, and beautiful, irresistible to all who meet him. Patroclus is an awkward young prince, exiled from his homeland after an act of shocking violence. Brought together by chance, they forge an inseparable bond, despite risking the gods' wrath. They are trained by the centaur Chiron in the arts of war and medicine, but when word comes that Helen of Sparta has been kidnapped, all the heroes of Greece are called upon to lay siege to Troy in her name. Seduced by the promise of a glorious destiny, Achilles joins their cause, and torn between love and fear for his friend, Patroclus follows. Little do they know that the cruel Fates will test them both as never before and demand a terrible sacrifice. **The Plan** 19:00 Meeting @ the restaurant 19:15 Dinner & discussion 20:45 Choosing a short novel for July 21:00 End **Dinner** The name of the restaurant will be announced in the WhatsApp group chat. **What to do** 1\. Shut Up & Write! Kingsdale Shopping Center
Shut Up & Write! Kingsdale Shopping Center
Greetings writers! Come down and join your fellow wordsmiths for one hour of uninterrupted writing time in the upper level of the Market District Supermarket in Upper Arlington. The main entrance of the shopping center opens onto stairs/elevator leading up to the 2nd floor cafe section where we will have a table displaying a sign with the Shut Up & Write logo. Writing is largely a solitary craft. Practicing with others in a community setting may be the thing you need to fire your own routine. We’ll meet on Wednesday evenings, starting the clock at 6:30, following a brief period of introductions. This is solid writing time and all inclusive. Any project is acceptable, be it fiction, non -fiction, work or homework assignment. All is welcome and will remain private to you. The market boasts a Starbucks, a full service bar and various affordable food options. Parking is plentiful, free Wifi is provided as well as outlets for charging your devices, though they are somewhat limited, so plan accordingly. Show up as early as you like, or stay late. This group tends to socialize some, both before and after the alloted time, but this is not mandatory to you. Feel free to come and go as you please and late arrivals are welcome. The cafe may be noisy on occasion so headphones/ earbuds are reccommended as you see fit. Please try to RSVP if possible so that we may grab enough seats for all—the venue can be busy at times. Feel free to message me privately wth any questions and/ or concerns you may have. Happy writing!
Speak Easy (Storytelling)
Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for May is "Ink" Speak Easy: true stories, told live. The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast. Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect. The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!
