NEW HIKE: Surrey's beauty spot: Thursley common and the deep forest of England
NEW HIKE: Surrey's beauty spot: Thursley common and the deep forest of England
Spring is heeeeeerrrrreeeee! The 21th of March is the first official day of Spring, and we LOVE IT! This winter has been very, very wet and depressing so let's hope that now, we are up to a bit of sun. What does Spring means around us? Well, flowers are blooming, trees are greening ( I know, incorrect term but it rimes and sounds so cool!) animals are shagging, singing, and migrating back to our beautiful lands and is there a better place to see all this magic than the forests and heathlands? Nope! So let's go for a new beautiful hike in one of England's most stunning forestry region. I haven't taken any group to this particular spot yet, so if you are a regular and want to see a brand new beauty trail, this is your hike... We will begin our hike in the little village of Witley and will finish the trip in Milford. If you like real nature like I do, you will be enjoying every step of the way as we cross woodlands, heathlands and moors. You know what a forest is, but do you know what a heath or a moore are? Well, it is simply a rare and unique habitat and Britain is home to over 20% of the world's heathlands and they can be impressively beautiful! And on the top of that are home to an impressive array of wildlife, some extremely rare such as the nightjars and dartford warbler, so keep your eyes peeled... Evidently afterwards, we are likely to make our way to a restaurant or pub for some tasty food before we head back to good old London. INFORMATION: COST: £17 via PayPal for the guide's fee Under £20 in cash for the train, we will have a 35% discount with a group saver if we buy our train tickets together and will get an off peak day return meaning that we do not actually pay for the return journey. The train takes about 1h20 minutes. INCLUDED: Guided trip The photographs that I will have taken on the day and that I will share on the WhatsApp group. A great time with lovely people NOT INCLUDED: Train Anything not mentioned above WHAT TO BRING: Waterproof shoes for the hike, preferably hiking shoes, otherwise good trainers; Weather appropriate clothes, including waterproofs if there is a chance of rain; Water bottle; Packed lunch and snacks. MEETING POINT: London Waterloo at 08:30 am, just by the clock in the main hall of the train station, NOT the tube station. ATTENTION: Our trips will not be cancelled due to weather conditions so please ensure that you do wear and carry appropriate clothing. 😄 POLICIES: 1: This group is designed for the pleasure and enjoyment of all of us, we do not accept any derogatory comments or behaviours towards anyone. Racism, discrimination and other unacceptable behaviours will only lead to your rejection to any of our trips and this without exception. Everyone is welcome, we have religious and non-religious people, gay, straight, bisexual people, all shades and colours or nationality, people of all ages, sex and political believes and mutual respect is the fundamental spirit of this group. 2: Our trips are only refundable up to 14 days before departure, if you wish to cancel after that, you will be offered a transfer to another trip for the same price or you may resell your slot to somebody else. 3: If we do cancel the entirety of the trip on our side, you will be fully refunded. 4:In the eventuality that our trains are delayed, or cancelled which is out of my control, I do not pay for taxis or alternative route, if this happens, you will be able to claim delay repay from the train companies who will reimburse your train ticket and some eventual costs occurred. By signing up to my events, you agree to this and these conditions.

Lets do a Flying Lesson! (SOLD OUT)
A chance to try a flying lesson! Feel the adrenaline rush as you take the controls of a light aircraft and soar across the sky above the English countryside while learning what it’s like to actually pilot a plane with this 30 Minute Flying Lesson in a Cessna airplane. You will have a 30-minute Flying lesson with an instructor, overall your individual session will be an hour as you get prepared and chat to your pilot before. We have booked for 10 lessons on the day and may be able to take a couple more based on availability. Time slots will be give out closer to the time, but overall we plan to head down together, and can get train/taxi to the venue. **About the Lesson** You’ll receive one-to-one tuition from a Civil Aviation Authority-licensed instructor, meaning you’ll have expert guidance in getting to grips with the controls during every moment in the air. You’ll have unbeatable views across the surrounding area, but we don’t blame you if you want to stay focussed on the world ahead of your windscreen as you’re thousands of feet above the ground! What you’ll learn will depend on your chosen location, but all of your flying time will still count towards a Private Pilot’s Licence should you be a budding flying hobbyist and planning to take to the skies again. Exhilarating, awe-inspiring and breath-taking all at once, this is an experience you’ll want to try again as soon as it’s over! **On the day** Your flying lesson starts with a pre-flight briefing from your qualified instructor. This will cover safety, and an introduction to some of the controls. Once in the plane, you are given headphones so that you can hear conversations between your instructor and air traffic control. You will also be able to communicate with each other so you can be guided through your first lesson. Once in the air, you will be able to take the controls but your pilot will take over to land the plane at the airfield and taxi back. **What to do:** * Ask questions, your instructor will be happy to answer them * Wear sensible shoes and clothing * Switch off your mobile ‘phone * Remove and sharp or loose objects from your pockets * Wait to be escorted to the aircraft * Avoid the propellor at all times, even when stopped * Assist your instructor in the air by keeping a good lookout for other aircraft * Avoid embarrassment and say if you start to feel unwell **What else do I need to know?** * A camera may be carried provided that a wrist-strap secures it * Any bags should be left with your companions or at reception * Your instructor will explain the operation of seats, harnesses and doors * In the event of an emergency please vacate the aircraft to the rear and continue to a safe distance * Should you have any queries regarding these briefing notes, our reception staff and your instructor will be happy to clarify * Maximum Weight limit is 18 stone **Location** Staplefield Airfield Ongar Rd, Romford RM4 1SJ **Travel** We can get the Train/Elizabeth Line to Romford Station.
