C is for… Cartoon Museum (Late night)
**Join us at the monthly late night opening at the Cartoon Museum**
The Cartoon Museum is dedicated to preserving the best of British cartoons, caricatures, comics and animation.
The museum houses a collection of over 6000 original cartoons and comics, and a library of over 8000 comics and books, documenting the history of British comics from the 18th century to the present day.
Main exhibition - [The Future Was Then](https://www.cartoonmuseum.org/whats-on-exhibitions/the-future-was-then)
This Autumn, The Cartoon Museum looks to the future – and the past – to explore comics that went beyond the final frontier and predicted what humanity would look like in years to come.
Will the Daleks invade in the year 2150? Did the space travel of Dan Dare or the dystopia of V for Vendetta come true in the 1990s? What will our future look like?
Take a journey through time and space and answer these questions and more!

* **If you can no longer attend, please change your RSVP to 'Not Going' as soon as possible.** Then someone on the waitlist can take your place.
**We remove members from the LoMAZ Meetup group who:**
* **RSVP as ‘Going' but then do not show up three times in a row.**
* **RSVP as ‘Going' but then change their RSVP to 'No' five times in a row.**

Board, card & dice games night at my place or The George (depending on numbers)
Hi everyone!
(pre-pandemic information)
If you like to play modern board, card and dice games, and to meet new people, then join us on Monday evenings from 6pm until the pub closes around 11pm.
Feel free to bring your own games if you have them, but don't worry if you don't as regular members will bring some along. And of course, we'll teach you how to play them if you don't know already.
You work late? No worries - you can join us any time before closing (11pm), so if you don't arrive at 6pm (attendees tend to arrive around 6:30 or 7pm), don't worry :-) Everyone comes and goes when they like, so it is possible that you may be the first to arrive or the last to leave,
Please write in the comments what time you expect to arrive at the pub, so we can try to avoid anyone having to wait alone for long.
We are a relaxed and friendly group, made up of both natives and foreigners, of locals and those living further afield, happy to welcome newbies and regulars.
Events are free to attend, but it is respectable to the public venues we hold them at if you can buy at least one drink or some food while you are present, just like anyone else at the pub would do.
If you would like to contribute towards the costs of running of this group, feel free to buy the host(s) a drink of their choice when you see them, for which they'd be very grateful. This saves money that can be put towards the Meetup subscription fees and buying the games that we all play.
The George is a reasonably-priced 'local' pub in the Docklands, near Canary Wharf, just 1 minute walk from Crossharbour DLR station, or about 15 minutes walk from the Canary Wharf Jubilee line station. Various TFL buses stop nearby.
Don't forget to join our group on Facebook for games news, articles, memes, gossip and banter: https://www.facebook.com/groups/Tabletop.Gamers.London.Docklands/

90s & 00s Night
Thanks to those of you who joined our 90s & 00s night pilot in November! It was a lot of fun, but we had some kinks to work-out with furniture and music 😅
Whereas our regular meetups are all about meeting new people and chatting, this one is more of a disco. We'll have more space for a dance floor, a DJ and the volume up!
\- \- \-
Get ready to hit the dance floor as we throw it back to the ultimate era of POP! From **Britney and Beyoncé** to **NSYNC and the Spice Girls**, we’re celebrating the icons who defined the 90s and 00s. Expect all the bangers, guilty pleasures, and sing-your-heart-out anthems you secretly (and not-so-secretly) love.
**When?**
Sat 31 january
Doors open 7PM
**Happy Hour in the first hour** – so bring your crew, grab a glowstick, and raise a glass to the queens and kings of pop.
Think **vinyls, VHS, glitter, neon lights** – and a stage wall that screams POP ICON.
Whether you’re a **Gen Z discovering the magic** or a **millennial reliving your prime**, this is the party for anyone who’s ever belted out “I Want It That Way” or “...Baby One More Time.”
The Need for Roots by Simone Weil - Little Venice Philosophy Walk
For this walk we'll be talking about Simone Weil's book **The Need for Roots** and walking around the beautiful Little Venice area and along Regent's Canal.
*"What do humans require to be truly nourished? Simone Weil, one of the foremost philosophers of the last century, envisaged us all as being bound by unconditional, eternal obligations towards every other human being. In The Need for Roots, her most famous work, she argued that our greatest need was to be rooted: in a community, a place, a shared past and collective future hopes."* (back cover notes from The Need for Roots)
You don't have to read the book to attend but if you do then you'll get more out of the walk:
**The Need for Roots**
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/0241467977
**Please read the following notes carefully and check the meeting point location details before attending!**
This is a walking discussion group with handouts with quotes and questions provided as a starting point. The only rule is to keep all discussion friendly and constructive and be respectful of other attendees. No dogs please as they can be distracting in the group discussion. **Please arrive early: we wait a maximum of 15 minutes at the meeting location and once we have left it will be very difficult to find us.** The walk will go ahead no matter the weather so do dress appropriately and bring an umbrella if needed.
There is a £5 fee for this walk to contribute towards the meetup.com fees and other costs. If you are a student, unemployed or retired then you can attend for free. You can pay in cash or card on the walk or online with this link:
