š„š¬ A BETTER TOMORROW (40TH ANNIVERSARY)
šµ ***It is not about money. It is about a matter of principle!***
**š Hello guys!** If you're a fan of director **John Woo** or classic Hong Kong action cinema, then you may be interested in joining me for the **40th Anniversary** screening of this landmark film, which helped revolutionise action filmmaking around the world.
The film is an emotional tale of brotherhood, loyalty, and redemption set within Hong Kong's Triad underworld. As a former counterfeiter attempts to rebuild his life and reconnect with his police officer brother, he finds himself drawn back into a world of betrayal and revenge.
The film is widely credited with launching the **heroic bloodshed subgenre** that would define much of John Woo's career.
**The Meetup:** Since this is an earlier afternoon screening, we'll meet directly at the **Prince Charles Cinema Bar** at **5:45 pm.** The film is at **6:00 pm** and I've selected **Seat A4** if you'd like to sit on the same row.

Thursday Tabletop Games at Premiere Cinemas
It's **Thursday** & our main night of the week & the fun & games are just getting started here at DWL!
We're located here in the Cinema (which can be found on the 3rd floor of the Mercury Mall Shopping Centre) on:
* **Tuesdays & Thursdays**: From 17:30 to 22:00.
* **Saturdays**: From 12:00 to 22:00
š¦ And we're still running every Monday 6pm to 11pm at the Golden Lion Pub too.
šā There are hot & cold food & drink options available from the cinema at low prices!
Supporting Premiere Cinema by buying their food & drink IS supporting Dicing With Life! The cinema has been very generous to us by bringing us into their space & our way of showing our gratitude is by sending some business their way.
And their menu is surprisingly cheap! Especially compared to any other cinema.
Here's some cool examples of some great **offers**:
Buy a large **Popcorn** (it's a huge bucket!) or a large **fizzy drink** & it'll initially cost you Ā£4, BUT, take your bucket or cup back to the bar for a **refill** & the cinema will refill it back up to the top for just Ā£2! šæš„¤
That's half price Popcorn & Pop!
This also applies to **Ice Blasts** too (£5 initially but to refill it's just £3).
There's also Hot Dogs, Nachos, Pick n Mix & many other treats in store too! Check out their menu š
If you have any questions, please ask & let the fun commence! š²

[Pay What You Can for your 18:30 ticket through this link before RSVP](https://www.barbican.org.uk/whats-on/2026/event/project-a-black-planet-the-art-and-culture-of-panafrica)
***MEET BY THE EXHIBITION ENTRANCE/TICKET CHECK***
Explore the impact of Pan-Africanism on artistic and cultural production from the 1920s to the present, through over 300 works ā from paintings and installations to posters, journals, and film.
The term Pan-Africanism refers to a broad spectrum of political and philosophical movements advocating anti-colonial resistance and transnational solidarity amongst peoples of African descent. While it has long been recognised as a galvanising force in 20th-century global history, Project a Black Planet is the first major exhibition to consider both its influence on visual art and culture, and the critical role of artists in shaping Pan-African visions.
Followed by social at the Barbican Centre.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: Our group will be providing all of the volunteers on this day so a firm RSVP count is essential. Please only sign up if you are certain youāll be able to attend. If something unavoidable comes up, please try to update your RSVP no later than one week prior to the event. With few exceptions, no shows or cancelations within 1 week of the event will not be eligible for future CMG Gives Back events. I appreciate your understanding as we try to ensure the agencies have the volunteers needed to provide the essential services they provide to the vulnerable population they serve. Our Partner Agency for this event is Lutheran Social Services! A huge THANK YOU to those volunteering at this (or any of our previous or future) CMG Gives Back events!
Look forward to seeing you there, Dan
