đïžđ DAVID HOYLE'S ALMANAC: LIVE AT THE RVT
đ© ***We all have our stories to tell, and in our own way, we are all gorgeous!***
**Hey guys** đžJoin me for an immersive evening at the iconic **Royal Vauxhall Tavern** with an exclusive cabaret performance from the legendary **David Hoyle.**
**David Hoyle**, also known as **The Divine David**, is a celebrated performance artist, singer, actor, painter, and pioneer of gender fluid "anti drag." Widely regarded as one of the UK's most unique and provocative artistic voices, he blends sharp social commentary, humour, and theatrical spectacle.
This monthly residency, hosted by **Cabaret Fireball**, combines ruthless satire, queer history, performance art, and reflections on the cycles of nature. This one draws inspiration from lunar phases, tides, the zodiac, and contemporary social issues, each performance offers a distinctive and unpredictable experience.
**Meeting Point:** We'll meet outside the main entrance of the **Royal Vauxhall Tavern at 8:00 pm** for a chat and a catch up before the **show begins at 8:30 pm**.
Expect a chaotic, darkly comedic, and thought provoking evening filled with social observation, protest, storytelling, and unforgettable performance. **Further information, ticket prices, and venue details can be found below**.
All in all, it should be a fun and memorable night out.
**See you there!**

History talk: The Rise and Fall of the Westminster Gasworks
Let's meet at St James's Park tube station outside the ticket gates (come up to the exit on the side towards Scotland Yard from platform level), we'll walk over together.
This talk sounds fascinating! I bet it's much more about history than just the provision of gas to the local area.
I booked only four tickets, please pay me the attendance fee of ÂŁ3 when we meet. It will go towards site costs.
I would like to set off quickly from the tube station meeting point. I want to avoid us having to squeeze into single seats here and there.

Thursday Tabletop Games at Premiere Cinemas
It's **Thursday** & our main night of the week & the fun & games are just getting started here at DWL!
We're located here in the Cinema (which can be found on the 3rd floor of the Mercury Mall Shopping Centre) on:
* **Tuesdays & Thursdays**: From 17:30 to 22:00.
* **Saturdays**: From 12:00 to 22:00
đŠ And we're still running every Monday 6pm to 11pm at the Golden Lion Pub too.
đâ There are hot & cold food & drink options available from the cinema at low prices!
Supporting Premiere Cinema by buying their food & drink IS supporting Dicing With Life! The cinema has been very generous to us by bringing us into their space & our way of showing our gratitude is by sending some business their way.
And their menu is surprisingly cheap! Especially compared to any other cinema.
Here's some cool examples of some great **offers**:
Buy a large **Popcorn** (it's a huge bucket!) or a large **fizzy drink** & it'll initially cost you ÂŁ4, BUT, take your bucket or cup back to the bar for a **refill** & the cinema will refill it back up to the top for just ÂŁ2! đżđ„€
That's half price Popcorn & Pop!
This also applies to **Ice Blasts** too (ÂŁ5 initially but to refill it's just ÂŁ3).
There's also Hot Dogs, Nachos, Pick n Mix & many other treats in store too! Check out their menu đ
If you have any questions, please ask & let the fun commence! đČ

Film and Video Production Events This Week
Discover what is happening in the next few days
1 DAY Film-jam No.125
This event will be for people to meet, go off and film, come back and enjoy the results. Whatever you want to do, be it film, act, direct or even just sort of hang around at the back then this is the event for you!
MEET AT THE ENTRANCE TO THE NATIONAL THEATRE.
If you are wondering what this group can provide for you, itâs above all else friendship with other like minded people, whether you are a screenwriter, director, cameraperson, actor etc etc.
With that in mind, on Saturday we will do the following:
1. Weâll meet at the National Theatre on Southbank.
2. Weâll split into two groups (or more if needed)
3. Each team will try and beat the other teams to a pub in EC1 in London and edit (maybe) the film.
BUT
4. Each team must make a 2 minute 30 seconds film on the way with a beginning middle and end, a solid story arc for the main character, etc.
Remember to bring:
1. You and your enthusiasm
2. A camera (iPhones dslrs whatever)
3. Someone willing to do an edit after we arrive back at the on their computers
All teams will then meet-up at a pub in EC1 and watch what we have filmed, happy with what they have learnt!
The first team that finishes gets a Small Prize!
Hopefully then, you will stick around to have a great time chatting about film, meeting new people, and forgetting about work until the late hours.
Look forward to seeing you there!
If there are no more places available on meetup then MORE tickets available on eventbrite:

Please Check Dates as this isnt a weekly meetup
â ïžđș LET'S TALK HORROR (PUB SOCIAL)
***đ*** ***That great horror is not defined by how much money is on the screen, but by how effectively it gets under our skin!***
**đ** **What's going on guys!** Lately, weâve seen some really unique entries, like **[Backrooms](https://www.google.com/search?q=backrooms+movie+trailer&num=10&sca_esv=bcc915fd4b92abab&sxsrf=ANbL-n6brQB7O1WSwFtdXtHuvAteIlGCyA%3A1781015954868&source=hp&ei=kiUoauCaMruvhbIPnuGYoA0&iflsig=AFdpzrgAAAAAaigzokKyXBPw2Qw7a4MIuGSKOJgOcjAC&oq=backrooms+movie+tr&gs_lp=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&sclient=gws-wiz)** and **[Obsession](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMC8kkwbIQQ)**, which were both made with micro budgets. This is honestly so refreshing as we are just a little bit fatigued now with overblown budgets and tired retellings with no soul.
For years, some horror films have chased bigger budgets and larger spectacle, but many of the most exciting recent releases have relied on atmosphere, creativity, strong concepts, and passionate filmmakers rather than endless spending. Some other honourable mentions are **[Hokum](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jP2nDyQWBOU), [Primate](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wo87F-va410), [Faces of Death](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mc6L502Ukb4), [Forbidden Fruits](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nyUCq9k7_0), [Whistle](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eIkIp4L865M), [Iron Lung](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IaEtA56pd_w), [Passenger](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNIn8kW1kyE)** and **[Cold storage](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kea7gnh1uYA)**, all of which were made on relatively modest budgets.
**It raises some interesting questions:** **Are we finally seeing a return to the kind of inventive, character driven horror filmmaking that made the genre so beloved in the first place?** And, **Could this be a sign that the industry is learning a big lesson?** Fingers crossed.
You are cordially invited to a relaxed evening at **The Three Johns in Angel,** starting at **6:30 PM.** Weâll dive deep into all this B-movie buzz and celebrate the creative magic behind modest-budget horror. **Full address and details of the condemned location are below**. So grab a drink and share your spookiest thoughts.
Letâs make this night one for the horror history books.
**See you there**

THE BEAST/ La BĂȘte (2023)
In the year 2044, in the age of AI, a woman named Gabrielle (Seydoux) tries to purify her DNA by purging the inherited memories of her past lives. She (re)lives her life in 1910 Paris and 2014 Los Angeles, and as the procedure goes on, the lines between her worlds become blurred. These three timelines have a lot of connective tissue holding them together; certain symbols and motifs appear repeatedly, not to mention Mackayâs Louis, a figure whom Gabrielle seems drawn to in each lifetime.
*The Beast / La BĂȘte* can be streamed for free on Kanopy or the Criterion Channel. It's also available for rent on Amazon Prime, AppleTV and YouTube.
Stop Guessing: A Product Person's Guide to AI Adoption
## đ€ Host Information
A co-hosted event by ProductTank Columbus & Women in Product Columbus
đĄ About the Workshop
AI adoption is stalling across organizations â not because of a lack of motivation or tools, but because it's fundamentally a behavior design challenge.
This hands-on workshop applies proven Behavior Design models and methods to help you move from a vague organizational wish to boost AI adoption to 3-5 concrete, testable interventions you can act on starting tomorrow.
Whether you're a product manager, on a product team, or just someone trying to get AI to actually stick at work, you'll leave with a clear picture of what's worth focusing on, what to ignore, and how to drive real, sustained adoption â no guesswork required.
đ ïž What to Bring
Laptop: Fully charged and ready to go.
AI Assistant: Have your favorite AI assistant pulled up. (Dom will be using Claude, but feel free to use whichever assistant you prefer!)
đ Logistics & Perks
Food & Drink: Pizza and drinks provided!
Parking: Plenty of free spaces available on-site.
###
Stalker
Based on the novel Roadside Picnic, it is NO picnic, but rather one of the masterpieces of world cinema. Andrei Tarkovsky's 1979 Soviet sci-fi classic, recounts the expedition of a writer and professor led by a mysterious guide called "The Stalker." to a futuristic wasteland called "The Zone." Dripping with existential dread, it continually presents strange occurrences that will have us debating the meaning of what we've just viewed right through the ending.
*Stalker* (1979) can be streamed for free on HBOMax, the Criterion Channel or Kanopy. It's also available for rent on Amazon Prime and AppleTV. The Columbus Library has two copies on disc.
Bondage Photography Demonstration
**The event has been canceled.**
*Note: this is a demonstration event only, you **will not** shoot you own images. However, if you bring your camera we can test it for compatibility with the studio lights.*
Bondage elements can add an extra layer of emotion and artistry to your images. Sample images on the internet are however dominated by BDSM style shots that are often sexualized and emphasize the model being in distress. In this demonstration Rachel and I show ways to use bondage elements in an artistic way. We explore the types of accessories that work best in artistic images and the best way to photograph them.
Our model is Rachel Adams, an internationally known fetish model with many years of experience in this genre.
