đȘđŹ THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU (IMAX FILM & SOCIAL)
đ§ ***In a galaxy far, far away, where every star tells a story, we gather to watch the next chapter unfold. A wise, mystical being with a touch of magic travels the universe and journeys alongside his human warrior companion, bound by a code of honour and a deep connection to the Force.***
đ **Hey everyone,** let's get ready to jump from one exciting planet to another and finally touch down on Nevarro, because the **Mandalorian and Grogu** are taking us on a journey across the galaxy!
Now, this Star Wars film is basically a big-screen adventure bringing our favourite duo from the Disney series to the cinema. It's directed by J**on Favreau**, who really set the tone for the **[Mandalorian Series](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOC8E8z_ifw)**, and he's carrying that same vision into the movie. Plus, since he's also one of the writers, we can definitely expect his style and continuity all over it.
If you've been following the show, weâll probably all recognise that same blend of space-western vibes, a bit of humour, and of course, plenty of Grogu charm. Itâs a natural next step for the franchise, bringing these streaming favourites to the big **IMAX Screen**. Itâs going to be a lot of fun with the same creative team going bigger than ever.
**Fun instructions:** Weâll kick things off at **3:15 pm** at the **Victory House Wine Bar.** Feel free to bring along your **Star Wars themed tees or any fun props**, totally optional! Then at **4:15 pm** we'll proceed to **Cineworld IMAX** where you will also find us in seats **F20-F22** inside the screen if you want to sit near us.
After the film we'll keep the fun rolling with a **Star Wars Vibe** **Social** at the **W Bar Leicester Square** where of course and review the film for our **[Letterboxd](https://letterboxd.com/movieroadhouse/) Page**. You will find the full **schedule breakdown, ticket info** **and addresses below**, and until then ...

đđŹ PASSENGER
đ **Damn, those horrific tragedies that unleash such an implacable demonic stalker. But why is it so impossible to outrun?**
đ **Whatâs going on guys!** Once again, we find ourselves right in the middle of bloody May, carving into another horror film. This time, weâre going into overdrive with a new tragedy horror by **AndrĂ© Ăvredal**âalready stirring quite a buzz on Reddit, with claims it explores elements of body horror.
If youâre familiar with his previous work, this will come as no surprise, as **[The Autopsy of Jane Doe](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNxsaFCzqxc)** and **[Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vlya92LZqZw)** also explore elements of body horror, though in different ways. Both are well regarded in the horror community, so excitement for this one is pretty high.
Most of the plot is being kept under wraps, but the vibe points to a suffocating, tense loop, following a couple caught in a harrowing car accident and pursued by a demonic stalker that seems impossible to escape. So letâs park outside that awful congestion zone.
So, it's Sunday drinks at the **Victory House Wine Bar** from **5:30pm**. Then at **6:30pm** will be on our way to **Vue Cinema (Screen 2)** where you'll find me in seat **A4**, but you can pick what works for you.
After the film we'll regroup once again for our commentary and **[Letterboxd](https://letterboxd.com/movieroadhouse/)** review. And, you will find the **full schedule breakdown, ticket info and addresses below**, so don't miss out.
One would expect some sort of break after a shocking accidentâŠbut donât count on it.

A Trip to Battersea Power Station, the Lift and Battersea Park
We'll meet up at Waterloo Station under the clock at 10.30. We'll take the tube to Battersea Power Station and spend a couple oh hours exploring inside and out. There will be photo-opportunities everywhere in the giant turbine halls, balconies and surrounding areas. For those who wish a trip you can book a trip to the top of one of the chimneys with amazing views over the river Thames.
Tickets are best and cheapest bought on line in advance. See [HERE](https://thechimneylift.co.uk/tickets/).
South Western Railway offers a 33% reduction in the cost of a trip up the lift - see [HERE](https://rewards.southwesternrailway.com/offers/359296?utm_source=fb&utm_medium=paidsocial&utm_campaign=120230926839930749&utm_content=120240483946030749&utm_id=120230926839940749_v2_s06_e7386&utm_term=120230926839940749&fbclid=IwY2xjawPYZnFleHRuA2FlbQEwAGFkaWQBqy6pjD9RrXNydGMGYXBwX2lkEDIyMjAzOTE3ODgyMDA4OTIAAR4c9nQ0c-bXW6acH3XGBPi2MJZO_39NrYetdF-L0ChrkjypMsAwYK-I687CFg_aem_ebrnt49xBR6RDslIq5bFLA) .
I'm planning to book my tickets for 12.30.
There are plenty of eateries to choose from for lunch. After lunch we can walk along the river and enter Battersea Park with its wooded walks, ponds and fountains as well as a bandstand and the iconic London Peace Pagoda. Once again there will be lots of things to photograph. After this, depending on how we feel we could either take the tube back from Battersea Power Station, or if anyone has the energy you could walk on towards Vauxhall, past the newly built up Nine Elms, the USA Embassy and Swimming Pool in the Sky.
Don't miss what should be a great day out.
Cost of Meetup: ÂŁ5 cash on day please for each member and each guest.
Please book your chimney tickets in advance. We'll agree a time after lunch to all meet up and walk together on to Battersea Park.

Eagles of the Republic
Fares Fares, star of the two previous films in Tarik Salehâs Cairo trilogy - 'The Nile Hilton Incident' (2017) and 'The Cairo Conspiracy' (2023) - is a hoot as an egotistical Egyptian movie star dilettante whose dreams of an easy life in a difficult country are scuppered in brutal fashion. A satire with a dissident energy and a dark denouement, itâs an Armando Iannucci-esque send-up of something deadly serious. (Time Out)

Jules and Jim, the Book!
By popular demand, the group wanted to read and discuss the semi-autobiographical novel by Henri-Pierre Roche, that inspired the Truffaut movie we watched last year.
The book is available through the Columbus Library's interlibrary loan system. They reported there are twenty-eight copies available in the state of Ohio. If you have a library card, you can file an interlibrary loan request here: https://www.columbuslibrary.org/library-services/ . There are also used copies available on Amazon and eBay for under twenty dollars.
You may want to rewatch the movie after reading the book, so we can compare and contrast in our discussion. The Columbus Library has four copies on DVD, and it's streaming on HBOMax.

**Abstract**
Like it or not, AI agents are now capable of turning a quickly written paragraph of requirements into a pull request that is ready to be integrated into real-world production applications and it's now our responsibility to make sure AI doesn't go rogue and take down prod - or corrupt our data by misunderstanding the requirements or our existing schemas. In this session we'll explore strategies to protect our codebases through unit and integration testing, documentation, and code review along with additional ways of providing context and guard rails to our AI agents as they carry out the work we've assigned them to do. By the time we're done, you'll have a firm grasp of the problem and understand some helpful options for protecting your codebase from vibe coding mishaps getting YOLOed into prod.

Shut Up & Write!Âź East Side Columbus
Join us for an hour of writing! Weâve discovered that itâs strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if itâs true for you at 7:00pm on Wednesday, February 11 at Streetlight Guild.
Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.
**SCHEDULE:**
6:45ish - Quick introductions
7:00 - Timer starts: write for 1 hour
8:00 - The End
**OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING** happens before and after the writing hour. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing.
**BEING LATE IS OKAY:** just show up and get settled! If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer.
Happy writing & I look forward to seeing you at Streetlight Guild!
**WHAT SHOULD I BRING?**
Whatever you need to be able to write! You're welcome to bring earplugs/headphones if noise will bother you!
**OTHER IMPORTANT DETAILS:**
* **RSVP:** Please RSVP by 6:00pm the evening of the meeting. This helps me know how many to expect, and if we'll need additional space!
* **COVID:** While masks are not required, please be mindful of the other writers around you and their comfort levels.
* **WIFI/OUTLETS:** Outlets are limited, so please ensure your devices are charged when you come! But Streetlight Guild does have free WiFi! Yay!
* **PARKING:** There is free public parking at Streetlight Guild.
