All Out of Bubblegum Film Club 141 / Nightcrawler
Nightcrawler is a 2014 American neo-noir satirical thriller film written and directed by Dan Gilroy in his directorial debut. It stars Jake Gyllenhaal as an unhinged stringer who seeks out violent and morbid events late at night in Los Angeles so he can film them and sell the exclusive footage to a local television news station. The supporting cast includes Rene Russo, Riz Ahmed, and Bill Paxton. It was met with widespread praise, especially Gilroy's screenplay and the performances of Gyllenhaal and Russo. Several critics listed Nightcrawler as one of the best films of 2014 and it received various accolades, including a Best Original Screenplay nomination at the 87th Academy Awards.
Please note we will not be showing the film at the meeting. Make sure you watch the film before you attend and then come and join in with the conversation. It’s just a discussion. It’s not a screening.
We will be meeting in The Ludski Bar in the Rio Cinema.

Film and Video Production Events This Week
Discover what is happening in the next few days
1 DAY Film-jam No.125
This event will be for people to meet, go off and film, come back and enjoy the results. Whatever you want to do, be it film, act, direct or even just sort of hang around at the back then this is the event for you!
MEET AT THE ENTRANCE TO THE NATIONAL THEATRE.
If you are wondering what this group can provide for you, it’s above all else friendship with other like minded people, whether you are a screenwriter, director, cameraperson, actor etc etc.
With that in mind, on Saturday we will do the following:
1. We’ll meet at the National Theatre on Southbank.
2. We’ll split into two groups (or more if needed)
3. Each team will try and beat the other teams to a pub in EC1 in London and edit (maybe) the film.
BUT
4. Each team must make a 2 minute 30 seconds film on the way with a beginning middle and end, a solid story arc for the main character, etc.
Remember to bring:
1. You and your enthusiasm
2. A camera (iPhones dslrs whatever)
3. Someone willing to do an edit after we arrive back at the on their computers
All teams will then meet-up at a pub in EC1 and watch what we have filmed, happy with what they have learnt!
The first team that finishes gets a Small Prize!
Hopefully then, you will stick around to have a great time chatting about film, meeting new people, and forgetting about work until the late hours.
Look forward to seeing you there!
If there are no more places available on meetup then MORE tickets available on eventbrite:

London Local Filmmakers Collective (LLFC) — Kickoff Cocktails and More!
We’re kicking off the very first **London Local Film Collective** **(LLFC)** meetup at **The Cocktail Club Monument** on **June 13**. We’ll meet at **7:30 PM**, with more details and exact meetup instructions to come closer to the day. It is a perfect spot to gather, talk shop, and get to know each other before we start making all kinds of brilliant low-budget chaos together.
You can check out the venue before the meetup:[ ](https://www.thecocktailclub.com/bars/monument?utm_medium=organic&utm_source=gbp&utm_campaign=homepage)**[Here.](https://www.thecocktailclub.com/bars/monument?utm_medium=organic&utm_source=gbp&utm_campaign=homepage)**[ ](https://www.thecocktailclub.com/bars/monument?utm_medium=organic&utm_source=gbp&utm_campaign=homepage)The bar is at **Monument, 2B Eastcheap, London EC3M 1AE**. Located in King William House.
**A quick RSVP note: We will be making reservations the night before. Because this venue is reservation-based, please do not RSVP yes unless you’re fairly certain you can attend. If something comes up, please update your RSVP as soon as possible and let us know. More than two no-shows will result in removal from the group. No villain arc, just logistics.**
This first meetup is all about connection. Come by, have a drink, meet other filmmakers, and tell us what you’re working on — whether that’s a short film, a documentary, a script, a micro-budget feature, a half-finished idea living in your Notes app, or a project you’d love to jump onto with other people. Directors, actors, writers, cinematographers, editors, photographers, animators, and curious *“I know I want in, I just don’t know where yet”* people are all welcome.
We’ll meet at **7:30 PM**, and I’ll send more details and meetup instructions closer to the day.
Let’s make some cool stuff together!

THE BEAST/ La Bête (2023)
In the year 2044, in the age of AI, a woman named Gabrielle (Seydoux) tries to purify her DNA by purging the inherited memories of her past lives. She (re)lives her life in 1910 Paris and 2014 Los Angeles, and as the procedure goes on, the lines between her worlds become blurred. These three timelines have a lot of connective tissue holding them together; certain symbols and motifs appear repeatedly, not to mention Mackay’s Louis, a figure whom Gabrielle seems drawn to in each lifetime.
*The Beast / La Bête* can be streamed for free on Kanopy or the Criterion Channel. It's also available for rent on Amazon Prime, AppleTV and YouTube.
Stop Guessing: A Product Person's Guide to AI Adoption
## 🤝 Host Information
A co-hosted event by ProductTank Columbus & Women in Product Columbus
💡 About the Workshop
AI adoption is stalling across organizations — not because of a lack of motivation or tools, but because it's fundamentally a behavior design challenge.
This hands-on workshop applies proven Behavior Design models and methods to help you move from a vague organizational wish to boost AI adoption to 3-5 concrete, testable interventions you can act on starting tomorrow.
Whether you're a product manager, on a product team, or just someone trying to get AI to actually stick at work, you'll leave with a clear picture of what's worth focusing on, what to ignore, and how to drive real, sustained adoption — no guesswork required.
🛠️ What to Bring
Laptop: Fully charged and ready to go.
AI Assistant: Have your favorite AI assistant pulled up. (Dom will be using Claude, but feel free to use whichever assistant you prefer!)
🍕 Logistics & Perks
Food & Drink: Pizza and drinks provided!
Parking: Plenty of free spaces available on-site.
###
Bondage Photography Demonstration
**The event has been canceled.**
*Note: this is a demonstration event only, you **will not** shoot you own images. However, if you bring your camera we can test it for compatibility with the studio lights.*
Bondage elements can add an extra layer of emotion and artistry to your images. Sample images on the internet are however dominated by BDSM style shots that are often sexualized and emphasize the model being in distress. In this demonstration Rachel and I show ways to use bondage elements in an artistic way. We explore the types of accessories that work best in artistic images and the best way to photograph them.
Our model is Rachel Adams, an internationally known fetish model with many years of experience in this genre.

Stalker
Based on the novel Roadside Picnic, it is NO picnic, but rather one of the masterpieces of world cinema. Andrei Tarkovsky's 1979 Soviet sci-fi classic, recounts the expedition of a writer and professor led by a mysterious guide called "The Stalker." to a futuristic wasteland called "The Zone." Dripping with existential dread, it continually presents strange occurrences that will have us debating the meaning of what we've just viewed right through the ending.
*Stalker* (1979) can be streamed for free on HBOMax, the Criterion Channel or Kanopy. It's also available for rent on Amazon Prime and AppleTV. The Columbus Library has two copies on disc.
