Was anfangs abstrakt erscheint, wird überraschend konkret.

EP Writers Club
EP Writers Club
**What is EP Writers Club?** EP Writers Club is a gathering for **people who write** and want to discuss what they have written. Whether you've written essays, articles, newsletters, blog posts, research papers, book chapters, long-form articles, research notes, books in progress, or works in progress, this is a space to talk about your work and the thinking behind it. **Why Does it Exist ?** Many people write in isolation. They research alone, think alone, and publish alone. They rarely get the opportunity to discuss what they have written with other people who are actively writing. **The goal :** bring something you've written and let's discuss it. This is a space for you to talk about what you have written, what inspired the piece, what questions you are trying to answer, what you have discovered so far, and where your thinking is leading you. The piece does not need to be finished. Rough drafts, research notes, unfinished essays, book projects, and works in progress are all welcome. **Who is it for ?** If you are a writer working on fiction or non-fiction about science, technology, history, archaeology, philosophy, culture, society, business, or any other subject, you are encouraged to attend and bring your work to discuss with the group. If you prefer, you can also bring a few printed pages of your work to share with others. At the moment, the focus of the Writers Club is fiction and non-fiction writing, essays, articles, research, and books rather than poetry or spoken-word formats. **What Happens During the Event?** Participants are encouraged to share excerpts from their work, talk about their research process, discuss their writing process, explain the questions they are exploring, and invite discussion from other writers in the room. This is not a writing workshop. We won't be editing each other's work, reviewing grammar, discussing publishing strategies, or sitting quietly writing on the spot. **Participation :** The only requirement is that you have written something and are willing to discuss it. **No pitching. No passive attendance.** This gathering is for people who are actively writing. In the future, we may open the event to a larger audience interested in listening and observing the discussions.

Designing APIs & Building Contextual Chatbots | Data Engineering Meetup
Designing APIs & Building Contextual Chatbots | Data Engineering Meetup
Two talks. One evening. Plenty of ideas to take home. We’re ready to kick things off for another Berlin Meetup, and are happy to present the speakers of the evening: **[Jens Wriske](https://www.linkedin.com/in/jens-wriske-8b538a397/):** ***"Designing APIs on top of Data Platforms using Databricks"*** Modern data platforms increasingly follow a lakehouse architecture, where data remains owned and governed by domain teams rather than application developers. This session explores how APIs can be designed on top of Azure Databricks to provide access to heterogeneous data sources without duplicating or owning the underlying storage layer. **[Tanuj Jain](https://www.linkedin.com/in/tanuj-jain-10/): *"The Story Behind the Story: "Building a Contextual News Chatbot."*** Most news readers lack the background to fully engage with the stories they encounter. This talk walks through the development of a chatbot embedded in a news article page for a German news publisher, designed to give readers on-demand context about what they're reading. We share the key technical and product decisions made along the way, and what we learned about building an AI feature that sits at the intersection of editorial and user experience. ✧ ✧ ✧ **What to expect:** * Two expert talks and Q&A * Networking opportunities in our great Creator Space * Some snacks & drinks to fuel your thoughts : ) ✧ ✧ ✧ **Timetable:** * 18:30 - Event admission * 18:50 - Welcome & Introduction * 19:00 - Jens Wriske: *"Designing APIs on top of Data Platforms using Databricks"* * 19:30 - 5 minutes break * 19:35 - Tanuj Jain: *"The Story Behind the Story: Building a Contextual News Chatbot"* * 20:05 - Snacks, Drinks & Networking * 21:30 - End ✧ ✧ ✧ More on the **-> [applydata data engineering meetup page](https://applydata.io/data-engineering-meetup/)**. **Our goal is to form a local data-loving community, so join us and let's talk data together!** ✧ ✧ ✧ *At the event, sound, image and video recordings are created and published for documentation purposes as well as for the presentation of the event in publicly accessible media, on websites and blogs and for presentation on social media. Bring your laptop! The session will last around 2 hours, followed by a networking session with dida and fellow AI enthusiasts (and free pizza!🍕). Bring your laptop! **Abstract:** Nearly every cancer diagnosis still begins with a pathologist examining a stained tissue slide under a microscope. Digital pathology turns those slides into gigapixel images — and with them, a uniquely demanding frontier for machine learning. But getting from raw pixels to clinically meaningful, quantitative insight about a tumor and its microenvironment is far from trivial. In this workshop, Aignostics — a computational pathology company and Charité spin-off — walks you along the arc from core ML research to real-world application. We start with an overview of digital pathology and what makes it challenging for ML (gigapixel images, scarce labels, scanner and staining variability). We then look at how pathology foundation models are built and what separates a good one from a fragile one — not just accuracy, but robustness to non-biological artifacts — with a short hands-on segment. Finally, we put these models to work: with Atlas H&E-TME we profile the tumor microenvironment from routine H&E slides, and you'll get hands-on with OpenTME — an open dataset of TME profiles across five cancer types from TCGA — and TME Studio to run your own analyses. **⚡ FINAL REMINDER ⚡** **You MUST register and be approved on Luma to attend. Extensions allow developers to customize the editor with new features, integrations, and workflow improvements tailored to their needs. In this session, we’ll cover what extensions are and the different types available, including full extensions written in TypeScript or JavaScript, along with lighter-weight extensions such as color themes, language packs, language support, code snippets, and keymaps. We’ll also look at practical reasons a developer might create an extension, from automating repetitive tasks to adding custom tooling. The session includes a hands-on walkthrough of creating a new extension, testing it locally, and understanding the basic project structure. We’ll close with a brief overview of how extensions are packaged and published to the Visual Studio Marketplace and other distribution options. **YouTube Link** TBD
AI Agents 101: How to Make ChatGPT Do Actual Work
AI Agents 101: How to Make ChatGPT Do Actual Work
Most people still use AI like a search box: type one question, get one answer, repeat. But the next step is AI agents: systems that can take a goal, break it into steps, use tools, remember context, and produce useful work for a human to review. In this beginner-friendly session, we’ll demystify what AI agents actually are — without hype or jargon. We’ll walk through practical examples of how agents can help with research, planning, writing, coding, operations, and personal productivity. We’ll cover: * What makes an AI “agent” instead of just a chatbot * How agents break tasks into steps * Where agents are genuinely useful today * Where they fail, hallucinate, or need human review * How to design simple AI workflows for your own work * A live demo of an AI agent-style workflow from start to finish No coding experience required. This is for anyone who wants to understand where AI tools are going and how to use them more effectively right now. LOGISTICS AND PARKING: The talk starts at 7:00 PM. The first half hour is reserved for everyone to get set up and mingle. Free pizza and drinks! The cheapest parking option is to find street parking, which will only cost you a few bucks. Otherwise, park in the nearby veteran's museum lot for $8. It's highly recommended you avoid the nearby $15 garage parking.

COUNT RMH Housewarmer Volunteering (Ronald McDonald House)
Some trained COUNT volunteers work together once a month at RMH (http://www.rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer.php) as Housewarmers (usually on the 1st Sunday from 1 – 5 PM). Some schedule other shifts at their convenience. You may try this out with less fuss by following a "Fast track" or go through the normal process. Normal process • Complete an online application (http://rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer/). • Attend orientation in advance. • At orientation you will complete forms agreeing to keep family/patient info private and allowing a background check and tour the facility. • Complete one training shift. Daily shifts are: morning 9 AM - 1 PM, afternoon 1 - 5 PM and evening 5 - 9 PM. • Schedule shifts online using the on the RMH scheduling system (http://www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/?FROM=32895). The Ronald McDonald House (RMH) provides housing and meals for families with sick children. The Columbus RMH is the largest in the world with 137 rooms. COUNT has been volunteering there since May 2014. Housewarmers work with RMH guests to provide a home-like environment - greet, assist with family needs, answer phones, give tours, assist with checkin/checkout, prepare guest rooms after checkout, clean facility, laundry, restock supplies and staff the front desk.
