Why Conservatism Always Fails
Why Conservatism Always Fails
“Conservatism,” in some form or another, is a mainstay of politics in Western countries. As a political philosophy, however, it is undefined, and the “conservatives” of today have very little in common with those of previous generations. What do conservatives actually stand for? Why are conservatives so effective in opposition, and so incompetent in government? And is socialism the only alternative? Join us for a discussion of Conservatism vs. Objectivism, an interview Ayn Rand gave at Columbia University more than 60 years ago — one that today’s conservatives would benefit greatly from hearing. Wednesday Run & Social Beer!
Wednesday Run & Social Beer!
There's no better way to break up the week than with a run beside the river with a bunch of friendly people. So why not join us for our regular Wednesday evening meetup! Please sign up here or on our Strava page, which includes the route: [https://www.strava.com/clubs/LondonSocialRunners](https://www.strava.com/clubs/LondonSocialRunners) We meet outside the National Theatre (NT) main entrance (river side), setting off at 7pm. Our route is a 7.5km (4.7 miles) loop around the river crossing Tower Bridge and finishing on Waterloo Bridge. Everyone runs their own pace and we welcome all levels of runners. We do ask that you are comfortable with this distance and are able to run at a pace of at least 6 min/km. After the run we go for a drink at The Understudy (KERB at the National Theatre). The NT have cloakrooms which anyone can use as a bag drop, though this can’t always be guaranteed. As of April 2026 there is a charge of £1.50 per item. If you find yourself unable to attend, out of courtesy to the host and other attendees, we ask that you update your RSVP so we know who will be joining us on the night!
Shanty Singing on the Golden Hinde ship- London Bridge
Shanty Singing on the Golden Hinde ship- London Bridge
The Golden Hinde was first English Ship to sail around the world, captained by Sir Francs Drake in the Elizabethan era. Besides hearing us, and joining in singing the choruses, you can also explore the ship. And for your further convenience, there is an on board bar with wine and beer at pub prices, and a flushing WC or two. We have been performing here for a year. All these events sold out weeks before we performed. We have had top class guests who were lively, and all joined in singing the choruses, Tickets are £10 plus booking fee, and the link is below. The ship is currently in dry dock undergoing hull maintenance, and you can reach it by going to London Bridge Underground station, and from there it's five minute walk walk through Borough Market. And, by the way, in 1975, this ship sailed from Devon to San Francisco, and from there onto Japan, where is starred in the original film production of Shogun Below is the ticket link to Eventbrite for Wednesday 8th April £10 plus 10% booking fee [https://www.eventbrite.com/e/shanty-singers-of-colliers-wood-on-the-golden-hinde-tickets-1967567447200](https://www.eventbrite.com/e/shanty-singers-of-colliers-wood-on-the-golden-hinde-tickets-1967567447200)

Hidden Failure Modes of AI Agents
Hidden Failure Modes of AI Agents
**Join us for a joint meetup with our friends from Qodo and Tessl** AI coding agents are increasingly embedded in production workflows, but their failure modes are often poorly understood, difficult to detect, and even harder to evaluate systematically. This session examines how agent-based systems degrade under real-world conditions, focusing on three critical dimensions: reliability, code quality, and security. We’ll look at where current evaluation approaches fall short, how non-determinism and context drift impact correctness, and why seemingly “successful” generations can still introduce latent defects or vulnerabilities. If you’re building, evaluating, or deploying AI agents in production systems, this session will provide a grounded view of where they fail and what it takes to make them robust **Agenda** * 6:00pm Venue opens * Join us for Drinks and Pizza! * 6:30pm **Hidden Failure Modes for AI Agents** by Nupur Sharma * 6:50pm Panel Discussion * **Panelists** * **Simon Maple -** Developer Relations at Tessl * **Brian Vermeer** \- Staff Developer Advocate at Snyk * **Nupur Sharma -** Solutions Engineer at Qodo * **Kunal Kushwaha -** Senior Developer Advocate EMEA at Cast AI **SPEAKERS** **** **Simon Maple - Developer Relations at Tessl** Simon Maple is the Head of Developer Relations at Tessl, and AI Native Dev co-host.
