Families Through Time: Past Stories, Present Lives, Future Families
Families Through Time: Past Stories, Present Lives, Future Families
### **Families Through Time: Past Stories, Present Lives, Future Families** Families are central to human life. They shape identity, belonging, values, and everyday experience. Across history, family forms have changed in response to economic conditions, cultural traditions, social norms, and political structures. At the same time, families deeply influence individuals’ emotional worlds, relationships, and life opportunities. This session explores how family structures have evolved over time, how they function in contemporary society, and how they may transform in the future. We will examine both structural changes and personal experiences, connecting historical developments with present realities and future possibilities. In this session, we will focus on the following topics: * **Historical family forms**: nuclear, extended, and multigenerational households and how they shaped daily life * **Changing roles across generations**: shifts in parenting, gender roles, and family responsibilities * **Social and cultural influences**: how norms, religion, and legal systems define and regulate family structures * **Contemporary family diversity**: single-parent, blended, LGBTQ+, and chosen families * **The future of families**: how technology, work patterns, migration, and social change may transform family life This will be an open and reflective conversation grounded in historical understanding, social analysis, and personal perspectives. Together, we will explore how families shape our past and present—and how we can imagine supportive and inclusive family forms for the future. **Event Details** ️ **Date:** Saturday, 7 March 2026 ⏰ **Time:** 14:00 **Location:** Hardenbergstraße 10, 10623 Berlin **WhatsApp (for prep materials and directions):** [Group Chat](https://chat.whatsapp.com/Ba8ZAaH2Yuk6FGmD3LLO7H) ⚠️ Note: This is a WhatsApp group link. Asian Languages & Culture Exchange 🍜日本語, 한국어, 汉语🍥
Asian Languages & Culture Exchange 🍜日本語, 한국어, 汉语🍥
This is a 3 phase meetup. You can come at any time. 1.) 6:45 -7:00 p.m.: Gathering at the meeting spot (see gmaps link!) 2.) 7:00 - 7:30 p.m.: Walk & Talk to the Kerb food court. 3.) 7:30 - 10:00 p.m.: Immerse conversations in the Kerb food court. 🪑: Reserved tables for the meetup. **1.) How to the find Quartier 205 Stadtmitte:** [https://goo.gl/maps/6Fhft3LbPhcEsQrdA](https://goo.gl/maps/6Fhft3LbPhcEsQrdA) The exact meeting spot can be seen in the photo below! We meet on the 1st floor where the trash sculpture can be seen. Look for a meetup sign or organizer wearing a black or red lanyard with "staff" written on it. **2.) Walk & Talk to the Kerb food court** The best part. This time we'll walk all the way to Checkpoint Charlie, pass the Gropius Bau and end at the former Sony Center where our final destination - the Kerb food court - is located. **3\. How to find the Kerb food court** [https://maps.app.goo.gl/xJTQg9oBoGL67syz7](https://maps.app.goo.gl/xJTQg9oBoGL67syz7) Kerb is located at the former Sony Center. The new flagship food court of Potsdamer Platz. Most likely we will be sitting upstairs on the first floor next to the bar (take the stairs to the left). ***Best ways to get there:*** 1\. U2 \(subway\): Get off at Potsdamer Platz and walk around 7 min to Kerb. 2\. Bus M41 or M85 Get off at Potsdamer Platz and walk 5 min to Kerb. *Who is this meetup for:* 1\. Asians who want to practice German and/or English\. 2\. German speaking individuals who are studying \(preferably\) Japanese\, Korean\, Mandarin or Cantonese\. 3\. Anyone who is interested in cultural exchange and wants to socialize\. *What you can expect:* 1\. A professionally organized meetup that can adapt to any changes given the current situation\. 2\. A collaborating venue where you can further socialize with other members\. *important: This event is held at the same time and meeting location like the "Networking & Language Exchange - 🍖international🍻" one. So I'm basically organizing 2 events at the same time which means that you can expect way more people than on the list.* *** Whenever you attend a meetup, the most common as well as first question you get is: "Where are you from?" You probably heard this question a million times. Well, at least I did. From my own experience of attending over 200 international meetups in various countries such as Germany, Japan, Australia and Thailand, I can tell you that asking for the name is a better approach. “A person’s name is to that person, the sweetest, most important sound in any language.” - Dale Carnegie If you really want to connect with like-minded people you should remember their name, but you don't have to remember every persons name you've talked you. Be picky about that, don't be me who can somehow remember everyones name easily. Don't tell yourself sth. like "I'm bad at remembering names." It's all about developing the habit of asking for a name and keep the conversation going on. Furthermore, you want to learn German or any other language. Learning the local language is crucial to connect with the locals and developing a true friendship. This can be accomplished with immersion. My goal is to inspire you to go out of your comfort zone and improve yourself each time you join this meetup.
Resonant Connections: Deep Listening, Sound & Reflection
Resonant Connections: Deep Listening, Sound & Reflection
Resonant Connections is a calm, 75-minute sound experience held in the quiet turning of the season — the space between winter and spring, when energy begins to return, but the body may still be slowly emerging. Guided by immersive natural soundscapes and gentle live sound, the session invites deep listening and rest. Sound is used as a way of creating space, supporting the nervous system and helping attention soften, so clarity and understanding can arise without force. This is a time for listening before action, allowing what is present to be felt before movement takes flight. After the soundbath, the session closes with a short period of private journaling, offering a quiet moment to reflect on what may be beginning to stir, and what still needs care and time. There is no pressure to share, interpret, or set intentions — only an invitation to notice and to rest. No previous experience is needed. Everything is optional, and you’re welcome to simply lie down, listen, and be supported by sound. Designed for small groups, this gathering offers a gentle pause and a sense of connection during a season of transition. **Les Amis** is a women-only community of friendly souls. We provide access to hundreds of experiences that explore your passions and connect you with other event participants. **Check our website to learn more, and apply to join our community and events**: [lesamis.cc/apply](https://www.lesamis.cc/apply)

Bring a book, a notebook, a sketchpad, knitting needles — whatever you’d like to spend a quiet hour with. If you’re building something of your own, you’re especially welcome here. We’re building a community of readers and creators who value depth, presence, and shared silence. The magic isn’t just in the quiet hour — it’s in the people who return and make it feel like a familiar room. (Please RSVP “yes” only if you can make it, so we can save a seat for you and others on the waitlist.) This quiet ritual unfolds at **W66 Café**. There’s no entrance fee, but please order at least one item from the café and don’t bring outside drinks 🙂 No assignments. No pressure. No productivity race. Just a shared hour of intentional silence, followed by relaxed conversation. 🕰 Our Agenda **10:30 – 11:00** Arrivals, ordering drinks/food, light social time **11:00 – 12:00** The Great Quiet Hour (Read. Write. Sketch. Code. Think. Sit.) **12:00 – 12:30** Optional socializing — share what you were reading or creating, or simply continue in quiet focus. ## **🏡 House Guidelines** To keep this space calm and welcoming for everyone: • Silence during the focus hour (no calls or conversations) • Phones on silent mode • If using a laptop, please avoid meetings or audio — headphones welcome • Arrive before 11:00 if possible to minimize disruptions

Mehr Infos **[hier](https://wearevillage.org/mitgliedschaft/).** The Playfight Ritual is a gathering that provides a safe space for queer individuals to connect physically within a supportive community. It takes the form of one-on-one encounters, where communication relies mainly on body language rather than verbal expression. The ritual can range from a dance with minimal physical contact to cozy cuddling and playful rolling around, or even energetic fights that explore strength and agility. Each playfight ‘belongs’ to the two individuals engaging in it and can be ended at any time by a word or by double-tapping your partner or the floor. There will be a warm-up phase and an explanation of the rules before the actual ritual starts. **General information** Wear comfortable clothes in which you can move freely. Long trousers are advised to avoid mattress burns on your knees. Jewellery is not recommended. **Language**: We’ll speak English and/or German, depending on the needs of the group. **Cost**: This event is one of two free events included each month in the membership programme. **Become a member**: As a member, you not only support our project, but you also get access to two free events every month. Humanist Program: Fighting the Efforts to Insert Religion into Public Education
Humanist Program: Fighting the Efforts to Insert Religion into Public Education
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event. Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk. Our March speakers are Molly Gaines and Zack Parrish, co-organizers of the Secular Education Association: They will share their story of how a small group of Ohio parents grew into a national organization tracking released-time religious instruction and other church–state issues in public schools. The presentation will cover SEA’s early wins and hard lessons, what we’re seeing nationally right now, and how local advocates can play a meaningful role in protecting public education. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of the landscape — and practical ways to get involved. Going forward our meetings will be hybrid.
