This is a **shuffle**/**cutting shapes** class for **beginner** and **intermediate** shufflers where we'll be learning a **choreo** and practise it to various speeds.
**This time, we're gonna learn the second part of the choreo that we started last time. You won't need the first part - we'll work on the second part only and then combine them at my next class at the beginning of May. However, you can already learn/refresh the first part with the help of the videos in our telegram channel - link at the bottom of this post!**
**What you need to bring with you:**
**Shoes**: If you'd prefer not to shuffle in socks, please bring a pair of dedicated clean athletic shoes with white soles.
**Water**: because Shuffling is like an intense cardio workout :)
**Fee**: 10€ (in cash or paypal **after** the event) to cover the cost of the rent, because we're not doing it for profit.
If you're a complete beginner and wanna try some basic moves by yourself before the class, you can watch this video on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xOAJA598uk But you don't have to - don't worry and come just by!
What will happen:
**Beginner shufflers** will get the chance to learn some basic steps and practice them stress-free in a short choreo.
**Intermediate shufflers** will learn to vary these basic steps with additional leg and arm movements, learn to combine them in new ways, keep practicing their foundations, and try to integrate the new combos into their freestyle.
Teacher: Ina
P.S. You're welcome to join our Telegram group where we share choreos, combos, music, etc. https://t.me/joinchat/73TM5UceauA5YmQy

Nerds, Creatives & Dreamers
**Nerds, Creatives & Dreamers** is a small, curated gathering in Berlin for two kinds of people who almost never end up in the same room: the ones who build things with code, and the ones who build things with imagination.
Developers and painters. Engineers and writers. Founders and photographers. In daily life these worlds rarely collide — here, that collision is the whole point.
Just a good space, a deliberate mix of curious people, and the freedom to let the evening unfold. Come ready to be surprised by who you meet and where the evening takes you. A room full of curious humans. We’re here to socialize as human beings. And if you do exchange contacts — make it personal, not transactional.

Labor: Past, Present, and Future – Work, Power, and Purpose
**Labor: Past, Present, and Future – Work, Power, and Purpose**
Labor is a defining force of human life. It shapes how we survive, how societies are organized, and how power and resources are distributed. Work can provide stability, dignity, and meaning—but it can also lead to inequality, exploitation, and exhaustion. More than just an individual experience, labor is a collective reality that reflects the structure of our world.
At its foundation, labor is tied to survival. Like all living beings, humans must expend energy to sustain life. Our bodies and minds are wired for effort, cooperation, and problem-solving. Yet human labor goes far beyond biology—it is structured by economic systems, cultural values, and political decisions that determine who works, how, and for whose benefit.
Across history, labor has continuously evolved—and so have the struggles surrounding it. Workers have organized to demand rights, protections, and fair wages, giving rise to unions, movements, and political parties. In many countries, labor movements shaped modern democracy, from the Social Democratic Party of Germany in Germany to the Labour Party in the UK, alongside similar movements across Europe and beyond. These efforts are remembered and celebrated globally on Labor Day.
Labor is not only a human phenomenon. In the natural world, cooperation, division of roles, and collective effort are essential for survival—from insect colonies to social mammals. These systems offer a broader perspective on work as something deeply rooted in life itself, while also highlighting what makes human labor unique: its complexity, inequality, and capacity for change.
In today’s world, labor is undergoing rapid transformation. Automation, digital platforms, and globalization are reshaping traditional employment. Stable careers are giving way to flexible—and sometimes precarious—forms of work.
At the same time, the psychological experience of labor is becoming more visible: questions of burnout, motivation, identity, and purpose are central to how people relate to their work.
Looking ahead, the future of labor may challenge long-held assumptions. Artificial intelligence and robotics could significantly reduce the need for human labor in many sectors, while increasing demand in others. This raises fundamental questions: What is the role of work in human life? How should wealth be distributed? And how do we define purpose in a world where labor is no longer central to survival?
We will explore how labor has evolved through history—from early forms of work to modern economies—and how worker movements and political forces like the Social Democratic Party of Germany and the Labour Party shaped rights and social change.
We’ll also reflect on labor as a biological, psychological, and social experience—how effort, motivation, and cooperation shape both humans and the natural world—and how work today is being transformed by technology, from gig economies to automation. Finally, we’ll look ahead to the future of labor, asking what happens if work changes fundamentally, and how we might rethink purpose, fairness, and the role of labor in our lives.
Join us for a critical and engaging discussion on labor—not only as work, but as a force that shapes society, identity, and the future. Together, we’ll reflect on how labor defines our lives today and how it might be reimagined tomorrow.

Meeting №4. AI: Between Techno-Optimism and Techno-Pessimism
Artificial intelligence is evolving at an extraordinary pace and is already reshaping how we work, learn, create, and make decisions. Some see AI as a powerful tool that will enhance human potential and solve global problems. Others warn about risks: bias, automation, loss of control, and long-term societal impact.
In this meeting, we will explore AI from both perspectives — techno-optimism and techno-pessimism. What can AI actually do today? How does it work under the hood? Where are its real strengths, and where are its limitations? And how should we think about its future development?
We invite both professionals and non-professionals to join the discussion. Whether you work with AI, study it, are simply curious about it, or approach it from philosophy, psychology, sociology, or everyday experience — your perspective is welcome.
## **Preparation & Suggested Materials**
To help you prepare, we’ve put together a curated reading list that includes books, research papers, articles, interviews, and practical guides. The world of AI moves fast, so alongside well-known books you will also find recent articles and research projects.
You don’t need to read everything. Choosing one book, article, or even a short explainer is enough to take part in the discussion. You’re also welcome to bring your own material, as long as it relates to artificial intelligence and its societal impact.
The full list of suggested readings (with links) is available here:

Profs & Pints Northern Virginia: Doom and Dinosaurs
[Profs and Pints Northern Virginia](https://www.profsandpints.com/washingtondc) presents: **“Doom and Dinosaurs,”** a look at how mass extinctions shaped the dinosaurs and what research on these events tells us about Earth life’s long-term prospects, with Ian Wilenzik, paleontologist and visiting assistant professor of biology at George Washington University.
[Advance tickets: $13.50 plus sales tax and processing fees. Available at [https://events.ticketleap.com/tickets/profsandpints/nv-dino-doom](https://events.ticketleap.com/tickets/profsandpints/nv-dino-doom) .]
Pity the poor dinosaurs. They lacked both scientific research to help deal with potential environmental catastrophes and places where they could have a beer and discuss it.
You, on the other hand, have the opportunity to come to Profs and Pints to hear a fascinating talk on the impact of mass extinctions on dinosaur evolution and what research on dinosaurs tells us about biodiversity and Earth’s current biodiversity crisis.
Dr. Ian Wilenzik, who has studied and taught courses on dinosaur evolution, population spread, and extinction, will leave you with a greater appreciation of the resilience of life on earth and how we’re both the product and source of biologically catastrophic events.
Many of us are familiar with how a big meteor impact about 66 million years ago wiped out the Earth’s dinosaur population, leaving us only with their feathered descendants, birds. Less well known is how the Earth actually has undergone five periods of mass extinction that wiped out nearly all life, and how dinosaurs arose from one and endured another—both caused by volcanic activity—before meeting their match in the third.
To ground his discussion, Dr. Wilenzik will talk about how we study mass extinctions by looking for geologic evidence of volcanic activity, meteoric blasts, and other catastrophic activity and of gaps in the fossil record after them.
He’ll also discuss what makes a dinosaur a dinosaur, describing their distinct anatomical features. He’ll talk about how they and other forms of life evolved over long periods of time and were affected by extinction events.
We’ll look at how the meteor-caused mass extinction that wiped out dinosaurs at the end of the Cretaceous paved the way for the rise of mammals and the emergence of primates, and, eventually, us. Looking ahead to future mass extinctions and what might survive them, we’ll talk about how that plant you forget to water might have the last laugh, as well as why crocodiles might be around a while. (Doors: $17, or $15 with a student ID. Listed time is for doors. The talk starts 30 minutes later.)
