Community Conversation: AI, Psychedelics and Creative Brains
Community Conversation: AI, Psychedelics and Creative Brains
# COMMUNITY CONVERSATION: AI, PSYCHEDELICS, AND CREATIVE BRAINS **[🎟️ Purchase Ticket Here 🎟️](https://dandelion.events/e/f5v98)** Connection and Conversation with The Psychedelic Society **𖤓 Get connected – Listen, Learn & Question 𖤓** Join us for a bi-monthly SatSang, meaning “gathering in truth,” a conversation at Om Being with The Psychedelic Society, talking about the science behind topics that affect us everyday. Expect thoughtful dialogues and moments of reflection. ### **WHAT TO EXPECT** Despite not always feeling inspired, we all possess a creative brain, able to innovate and imagine. In this sense, creativity is a way of being. Distinct brain patterns underlie original thought and moments of cognitive flow. Listening to music or moving our body may instigate inspiration moving our mind into liminal states of ideation or daydreaming - letting the mind wander and imagine new ideas. Can we enhance this creative potential through a dialogue with non-human intelligence? Psychedelics are an ancient technology that opens us up to engage with life, appreciating the aesthetic world. By activating more distant associative connections in the brain, multiple viewpoints of a problem unleash and the unusual, abstract is unlocked. Partnering with AI offers expansion of our human creative potential; biosensing, special effects, VR, gaming, spatial sound. But, where is the line between where technology ends and human imagination and creativity takes over? AI is a tool and driver, a technology to get to new outcomes, but it may dissolve something we value more, our own indispensability to the process of discovery? Tea will be provided. ### LOCATION 📍 Om Being, Hackney
Day trip by coach - Two Pretty Towns & Two Neolithic Barrows in Kent! (NOW FULL)
Day trip by coach - Two Pretty Towns & Two Neolithic Barrows in Kent! (NOW FULL)
THE TRIP IS NOW FULL, IF YOU WISH TO ATTEND, ADD YOURSELF TO THE WAITING LIST AND I WILL CONTACT YOU IF A PLACE BECOMES AVAILABLE. Come along on Saturday 9th May to visit two pretty towns and two Neolithic Long Barrows in the county of Kent! **About the trip** The name 'Kent' is of Celtic origin and dates back to the 4th century BC. It is one of the earliest names recorded in Britain and translates as '*coastal district*', '*corner-land'*' or '*land on the edge*'. The county of Kent has stunning countryside and a pretty coastline. It has been known as the 'Garden of England' for over 400 years due to its long-standing reputation for agricultural excellence, particularly fruit orchards, hop gardens, and wine production. **Kit Coty's & Little Kit Coty's Long Barrows** Kit Coty & Little Kit Coty's Long Barrows are the remains of elongated earth and stone burial mounds constructed around 4000 BC. They belong to a localised regional variant of barrows produced in the vicinity of the River Medway. Today, some large sarsens stones remain (some upright and some fallen over) with each weighing in excess of 15 tonnes each. The barrows and surrounding areas were excavated in 1957 and contained traces of the cremated bones of at least nine adults and possibly two children, and artifacts dated to Late Neolithic. Both the Long Barrows are close to each other (we can't get access to the Addington & Chestnuts Long Barrows). **Lenham** Lenham is a small market town in mid Kent and sits on the River Stour. Its on the edge of the North Downs with a history that goes back over 1500 years. In medieval times, the town would have welcomed pilgrims walking from London to the shrine of St. Thomas at Canterbury cathedral. The high street has many period properties from Tudor to Victorian times **Charing** The small market town of Charing sits nearby to Lenham, also on the Pilgrims Way, with Canterbury cathedral only being one day's walk away. The town made its money from the many watermills on the River Stour and has many period properties. **Coach seating** * If you wish to reserve a seat on the coach in advance, after you pay please look at the seating plan in the photos [here](https://www.meetup.com/london_cultureseekers/photos/35924729/533630883/) and then email me - [general@cultureseekers.org](http://general@cultureseekers.org), with the seat number/s you wish to reserve. LET'S PLAY: ZARNITSA Sports Megagame [It's like Russian Capture the Flag]
LET'S PLAY: ZARNITSA Sports Megagame [It's like Russian Capture the Flag]
**Join LCC Sunday, March 8th at the Hackney Marshes playing field as we make another attempt at playing the Soviet Union's very own *Zarnitsa,* a capture-the-flag alternative with a small twist.** **WHAT IS ZARNITSA?** Zarnitsa (Зарница), or heat-lightning, officially known as the All-Union Young Pioneer military sports game "Zarnitsa", is a massive multi-player physical sports game developed and practiced by the Young Pioneers communist youth organisation during the Soviet era. The game provides a simulation of military actions such as reconnaissance, co-ordinated offensives, giving chase, etc. Popular once again in modern Russia, this is a simple game designed for children and young people in military/cadet organisations, but great fun for active people of all ages. The rules of Zarnitsa are based on the classic capture the flag concept. Two teams each have a "base area" with a flag contained within, concealed or otherwise. Each team's goal is to protect their own flag and seize the other team's and bring it back to the base area. Players can walk, run, sneak, hide, create diversions and use any means short of physical violence to achieve their objectives. What makes Zarnitsa different from classic CTF is simply this: every player has two velcro-attached shoulder straps that serve as health indicators and can be torn off by the opponents. Losing one indicates "wounded", losing two indicates "dead". The "wounded" players cannot run and should only walk. The "dead" players return to a respawn point or leave the game in some modes. Why are we doing this? Capture the flag is simply top fun and anyone who says otherwise is joking themselves. Zarnitsa's slightly elevated level of complexity should give us just that extra challenge needed to really make it interesting. That said, this is our first go with organising multiplayer sports games, so we'll see what the results are! As always comments, questions, suggestions and concerns are more than welcome - just contact an organiser. Sports games are a great way to get and stay active, meet new people, and break the monotony of everyday life under British capitalism. Let's get out there! For our first attempt at organising a little Zarnitsa league here in London, we'll hit up Hackney Marshes and Wick Woodland. We'll divide into two teams; each will receive coloured vests or other garments to which the health indicator strips are attached. Then we'll take up our places, count down from 60 seconds, and let the games begin! **Note: we'll want at least five people per team for this to really work right, so we'll cancel or reschedule if this one gets less than 9 RSVPs.** There's no limit to how big our group can be of course, so please do join us! Just be sure to either turn up on the day or change your RSVP if you can't make it in the end, just so we know what to expect. Take care and see you on the pitch!

Reconnecting with her paternal side of the family, she discovers a huge amount of shame and secrecy around his death. Reading from her biological mother’s diary entries from her youth, Marina takes the opportunity to uncover what she can about her parents’ relationship with the estranged family, and discovers the reason for their secrecy. For those who can stay will go for a drink after the screening to discuss the film.

The Genesis Cinema are celebrating their birthday. Ticket prices are £5.50 (same as in 1999), plus attendance fee of £2.50 for meetup site costs. They are showing selected films just once during their week long birthday celebration. I long wanted to see Metropolis, it was such a ground breaking film. Let's go for a coffee or drink afterwards. Please book your own ticket: [https://www.genesiscinema.co.uk/event/34347](https://www.genesiscinema.co.uk/event/34347) Plot: "Set in 2026 with its dizzying depiction of a futuristic cityscape and alluring female robot, Metropolis is among the most famous of all German films and the mother of sci-fi cinema (an influence on Blade Runner and Star Wars, among countless other films). Directed by the legendary Fritz Lang (M, Das Testament des Dr. Mabuse, The Big Heat, etc.), its jaw-dropping production values, iconic imagery, and modernist grandeur – it was described by Luis Buñuel as "a captivating symphony of movement" – remain as powerful as ever. Drawing on – and defining – classic sci-fi themes, Metropolis depicts a dystopian future in which society is thoroughly divided in two: while anonymous workers conduct their endless drudgery below ground their rulers enjoy a decadent life of leisure and luxury. When Freder (Gustav Fröhlich) ventures into the depths in search of the beautiful Maria (Brigitte Helm in her debut role), plans of rebellion are revealed and a Maria-replica robot is programmed by mad inventor Rotwang (Rudolf Klein-Rogge) and master of Metropolis Joh Fredersen (Alfred Abel) to incite the workers into a self-destructive riot." Please note there is an **attendance contribution of £3** which goes towards the yearly Meetup platform fee, and our organisers voluntary time, both necessary to keep this club alive and running! This fee will be split 50/50 between the host, Giselle, and the group organiser Dul, thank you. \*\*🔷**Blue Diamond Membership:** If you like this event, we encourage you to join our 🔷*Blue Diamond Membership*, for a symbolic £10/year towards making the club sustainable in the long run. Qamaria Yemeni Coffee
Qamaria Yemeni Coffee
Qamaria Yemeni Coffee is authentic, spacious, has a helpful staff, and I like their espresso. If you try this place on your own, they’re open early and late. This spot has been recommended a couple times and I think it’ll make a great stop on our journey. Come out Saturday morning for a relaxed convo. (Please keep your RSVP updated if you know you won't be able to attend, so others who can join have the opportunity to. No discussions on politics, religion or potentially controversial topics. We're here to relax and have fun. Just be respectful and we'll be alright. Pay your own way, and enjoy!)
