May Grand Gaming Melee
Isn’t life itself a game? Don’t you effectively “roll the dice” when you cross the street, order a product online, buy a movie ticket, take a seat at a restaurant, or agree to a blind date? Philosophers (mostly the ones who play games) agree that the concept, “I am my own meeple,” guides some – perhaps all – of many people’s daily activities. As for the others – that is, the philosophers who disagree and/or the people who don’t employ this concept in their lives – *get with the program! It’s time for another Grand Gaming Melee!*
There’ll be board games, dice games, card games, tile games, and just about every other kind of game that can be played on a tabletop. You’re encouraged to bring some of your favorites and teach them to new players, but feel free to come without any and play the games others bring. Game designers are welcome to bring their latest creations for a test run. Whether it’s a published edition or a handmade draft, if you see a game you’d like to try, there’ll be someone eager to teach you.
If you’re going to be your own meeple, then you’ll need a snack to be a fully energetic one. Please bring something delicious to share with your fellow meeple people: anything easily and neatly consumed at the gaming tables is welcome. Popular delicious items include bags of chips, pretzels, crackers, and cookies. Some people bring a package of doughnuts or cupcakes; these are always popular and disappear quickly. Savory snacks like olives, vegetables with dip, or cheese appeal to players who don’t want to spend the entire day snacking on sweets. A few creative types may even bring something homemade; these contributions are even more appreciated. A refrigerator is available to store drinks and other items that should be kept chilled.
Official start time is 10:30am. You can come and go at any time, but your host appreciates anyone who arrives as early as 10:00am (the library’s opening time) to help with setup. Many hands make light work! Cleanup begins around 4:00pm (or whenever you decide that you can’t squeeze in one more game before the end of the event). Remember, whoever starts cleanup first gets the best choice of leftover snacks to take home!
As always, leave the room clean and tidy.
**Please observe these rules regarding cleanup at Beatley library:**
* Please ensure that food scraps, crumbs, and bits of packaging are not strewn in the kitchen or auditorium. The library closes shortly after our event ends, so anything edible left on the floor or counters will attract vermin overnight. Night vermin are the worst!
* Please fold most of the tables and stack them under the coat rack – a few may remain where they were used – but **DO NOT FOLD THE CHAIRS**. Leave them out in any configuration that lets people walk around them easily. Many chairs are needed for programs the following day, so by folding them you only make more work for the organizers. On the other hand, more than a few tables left standing only impede the next day’s activities.
Moon Colony Bloodbath
We will be playing Moon Colony Bloodbath with up to 8 players. All experience levels welcome. Expect the game teach to start promptly within the first 10 minutes.
In Moon Colony Bloodbath players develop cities on the moon! Moon Colony Bloodbath is an engine-building, engine-losing tableau game, with a shared deck the players build that makes things happen, many of them bad things that kill people in your moon colony, but some positive, and some that let you build up. The game lasts until one player's moon colony has no people remaining, or until the players reach the bottom of the event deck. At that point, the player with the most survivors wins.
Find [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZgKbxvav00&pp=ygUhaG93IHRvIHBsYXkgbW9vbiBjb2xvbnkgYmxvb2RiYXRo) a how to play video on youtube.
Find [here](https://www.riograndegames.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/MCB.pdf) the rulebook.
Note: Please remember to update your RSVP if you can not attend the event. By updating your RSVP when you can't make it other players on the waitlist will have a chance to attend. No-shows may make it harder to attend future meetups. Also, all library rules apply to this meetup event. Mainly that no food is allowed in the library. Covered drinks are allowed.

The crew Wakes up from hibernation. The damage report States there is a critical system failure and the ship cannot continue its cruise. Popular Board Games and Card Games
We invite you to get acquainted with some popular modern European board games. We grew up enjoying Careers, Clue, Monopoly, and other such games. These new games are even better. They are easy to learn and are loved by a wide range of players. People will be available to teach how to play each of the games described below. Beginners are welcome.
Everyone is welcome to bring other board games and card games that you think people will enjoy. The Mexican Train domino game, Stone Age, and Alhambra are likely to be available. Scrabble and Rumikub have been mentioned as possibilities.
**TICKET TO RIDE**: Engaging for players of almost any age, Ticket to Ride is great fun. The rules are simple, but deciding what plays to make in any specific game situation remains interesting and enjoyable for years.
**CATAN**: In this game players act as competitive settlers. They acquire resources, trade them with other players, and build and develop their holdings on the island of Catan. Players gain victory points as their settlements grow. A feature that makes it easy to enjoy this game over and over is that the island is different for every game. It consists of hexagonal terrain tiles that can connect in any order.
**CARCASSONNE**: Players take turns placing tiles to build a land with cities, farms, roads, and cloisters. They earn points by claiming and completing those things. This game remains enjoyable, time after time, for years.
All are invited to come to the Lodge as guests of Virginia Colin. Please make sure that she signs you in.
Drinks and good quality bar food will be available for purchase. Salads, onion rings, and sweet potato fries are recommended by many of us.

Pathfinder Society 7-02: Shipyard Sabotage [1-4]
This is a level 1-4 scenario connected to the Season 7 Pathfinder Society meta-plot involving hostilities between Cheliax and Andoran.
Scenario is not marked as repeatable by Paizo, however, replayers are welcome to join in for another go. Hope to see you join us as we get a Pathfinder scene going at Game Kastle!
Tensions are high following the Battle of Hellknight Hill, and while Cheliax hasn't taken any direct action, they've encouraged privateers to attack Andoran shipping. One of these pirates is especially overconfident, and believes she can win more favor with a more direct attack–one on the Augustana shipyards. Coincidentally, the Pathfinder Society is in the market for a new ship, and the heads of Supplies and Procurement are touring some that are available when the attack begins. As the escorts to Nairaba and Kitsch, the two aforementioned heads of their divisions, it's up to you to keep your charges safe while dealing with the chaos.

Fairfax Home Board Game Fun!
Welcome to the Fairfax Home Board Game Group. I have been running this group for 3+ years, every other Saturday. The group has evolved since I first started, so I thought I should update the description to more closely describe how it runs today.
This group is hosted at my home in Fairfax and primarily plays hosted games, meaning a player owns the game and will teach others at the table how to play. Below are some tips for a great first visit and what to expect.
***
**Tips for the Best Experience for Newcomers**
1. Check the event messages periodically, and more frequently as the event gets closer. If you see someone hosting a game you are interested in, respond to the post to reserve a space.
2. Watch a "how to play" video for the game you want to play. While the host will teach the game at the table, coming prepared will make for a better experience. Most hosts will post a link to a "how to play" video in their initial post. If you want to host a game feel free to post in the event and see if there is interest!
3. Arrive on time. Games tend to start promptly between 8:30pm and 8:45pm — I make it a rule not to wait past 8:45pm. Please also avoid arriving earlier than 8:15pm; if you get to the house before then, please wait in your car as we are usually still getting last-minute things ready. If you do arrive late you are welcome to come in, but depending on when you arrive there may not be a seat available. The last thing I want is for someone to drive all the way out only to miss the game, so please be on time! =)
***
**What to Expect & General Tips**
**Game Length** — Most games take anywhere between 2 and 3 hours, including the teach, which means you will typically only play one game per evening. Occasionally a shorter game wraps up early and that group may play a second, but that is more the exception than the rule.
**Game Difficulty** — This group primarily plays medium to complex games, and while new players are always welcome — the host will teach you at the table! — it's worth knowing what to expect before you come. If you are looking to play games like Scrabble, Monopoly, Uno, or party games, this is probably not the right event for you. In three years I have seen only two party games played and zero classic board games.
**Update Your Status** — Please be considerate of others who would like to attend but may be held back by space constraints. If you can no longer make it, update your status as soon as possible so others can attend — even if there is no waitlist. This also helps me plan seating and choose games appropriate for the number of players.

In between sessions, join the conversation on our Discord, where we chat about games, minis, and other game-related topics! Discord invite: [https://discord.gg/JyprPCvmMj](https://discord.gg/JyprPCvmMj)
D&D Adventure's League: Secrets of the Moon - Tier 2 - DM Sean
A mysterious map hints at the gathering of sinister forces near Thentia. The temple of Selûne fears that the cryptic map, and the strange artifact discovered along with it, may signal involvement of the cult of Shar, and hires adventurers to investigate.
**This event is hosted using the Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition Adventurers League rules. It is a Tier 2 game suitable for players with advanced experience who have previously played in multiple Tier 1 games.**
**Becoming a member in our Discord and accepting our Code of Conduct is required for play at all of our events. You must join and accept the Discord rules before signing up to any MeetUp events. These rules include but are not limited to:**
* **Assigning your name and pronouns as your server nickname;**
* **Confirming your age as 18 or older;**
* **Participating in a respectful environment for both our AL DMs and your fellow players.**
**If you do not join the Discord and accept these rules prior to signing up for an event, you may be removed from the MeetUp event or be required to join the Discord and agree to the Code of Conduct at the game table prior to playing.**
