We'll introduce you to at least 5, and up to 12 - or more - single women or men. Spend a little time with each one, during a series of 6-minute Pre-Dates. Then tell us who you'd like to speak with again & we'll do the rest! It's the modern, civilized, effective, and fun way to meet other professional-level singles. If you're finished with the games and ineffectiveness of online dating and apps, join us to share a wonderful evening of enjoyable conversation with interesting people... and maybe something magical will happen!

**DOES IT WORK?**
Yes! According to the New York Times, at a speed dating event, people like 2-3 out of 10 people they meet. Online daters only match with 1 in 100 or fewer of the profiles they study. This is the best way to meet new people, and it works! Just ask the thousands of people that have met at our events and had successful relationships and marriages.
**WHAT DOES IT COST?**
We put a lot of time and effort into creating the best singles events possible, so we collect a fee for our hard work. Our events are an excellent value at about $3 per introduction. Get your ticket for the best singles event in town.
**NOTE FOR NEWCOMERS:**
We post our events on various platforms. Our events often sell out, so expect plenty of fellow singles, regardless of the numbers you see here :)
So what are you waiting for?
Join us for some fun conversation with great new people... and maybe something more!
Who will you meet?

Beginners' No Drop Ride
Meet in the parking lot of the Handy Bikes Service Center.
At the start of each ride, we'll go over introductions to have a sense of participants' cycling experience.
Over the course of our rides, we'll address the following:
group riding dynamics;
safety (ABC check & trail hazards); gear shifting;
hill climbing;
audible and hand communication within the group, with other trail users, and automobile drivers;
what to bring on each ride; etc...
Bring your questions, water & a snack.
When it starts getting dark earlier, we'll need lights as well.
Helmets a MUST.
If you can, and especially if you've had issues with your bike, come a bit early to have it looked at ahead of the ride.
PS - all levels are welcome to join, however, be mindful that if you are an experienced rider, please be prepared to ride at the pace of the newest rider in the group.
Each week, depending on who's in attendance, and participants' riding ability/comfort level, we may do skills practice as a group in the parking lot or at the west end of Wheeler Ave. Once everyone is comfortable, we'll go for a ride on local trails and neighborhood streets and finish back at the shop.
Happy Pedaling !!

Birding + Invasive Species Removal Event at Monticello Park
Join NVBA bird guides Arielle and Gabrielle this Saturday for a rewarding morning of birding followed by an invasive species removal project at Monticello Park!
Late winter is one of the best times to tackle invasive plants in our parks and backyards as there’s no poison ivy to worry about, roots are easier to pull, and visibility across the landscape is much improved. Because habitat loss is the leading cause of bird population declines, urbanized (and rapidly urbanizing) areas like Northern Virginia play a significant role. Through the *[Stretch Our Parks](https://www.nvbirdalliance.org/stretch-our-parks)* program, volunteers are working to reverse that trend!
**Timing & activities:** The event begins at 9:00 AM with a peaceful bird walk to observe and learn about the park’s species. Around 10:00 AM, we’ll shift to hands-on habitat restoration, focusing on clearing invasive plants. The upper corner and along the fence line is in need of some maintenance to improve habitat health and open the area for wildlife. Attendees should wear hard-soled shoes and long sleeves. Gloves, binoculars, & tools will be available.
*We ask that those who RSVP plan to attend both portions of the program to fully experience how habitat restoration benefits birds and birders alike.*
**Interest form:** Let us know you’re joining us by filling out the google form **[[linked here](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScEdjDjYTfNFrLx4EjCVP429JP2jIgta_4BUu9_tgEtVi4edQ/viewform?usp=publish-editor)],** we will use this information to plan accordingly and send reminder messages!
**Parking:** Street parking is available on Beverly Dr. There is no parking lot - please do not park on the driveway of the park as that's reserved for service vehicles.
Insight Meditation of Northern Virginia
Whether you're new to Insight meditation or an advanced practitioner looking for like-minded people to sit with, you're welcome to join us at our Sunday morning drop-in group, sponsored by the Insight Meditation Community of Washington. Insight meditation cultivates our natural wisdom and compassion. Meditation practice develops concentration, which allows us to calm and steady the mind.
This class includes a 30-minute lightly-guided meditation, followed by a short talk and time for questions and discussion. The size of the group usually runs somewhere between 25-40 people in-person and between 12-25 online. Chairs are provided, or you may bring a sitting cushion or bench. You may also use the blankets and bolsters offered by the yoga studio.
**We offer both in-person and online attendance.**

Humanist Program: Fighting the Efforts to Insert Religion into Public Education
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event.
Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk.
Our March speakers are Molly Gaines and Zack Parrish, co-organizers of the Secular Education Association:
They will share their story of how a small group of Ohio parents grew into a national organization tracking released-time religious instruction and other church–state issues in public schools. The presentation will cover SEA’s early wins and hard lessons, what we’re seeing nationally right now, and how local advocates can play a meaningful role in protecting public education. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of the landscape — and practical ways to get involved.
Going forward our meetings will be hybrid. You can meet us in-person or attend online
