🎬 The Club – Summer Movie Festival (Private Garden)
Small curated movie nights in a hidden garden in Ixelles, next to Place Flagey.
A mix of:

* **comfort food and summer vibes**
**This is not a giant public Meetup** where 40 strangers stand awkwardly around overpriced drinks pretending networking is fun. Humanity already suffered enough.
Our idea is simple:
we gather in a private home and transform the courtyard into a small outdoor cinema.
Sometimes we cook together before the movie:
Italian, Thai, Lebanese, Japanese, Balkan, Greek, Latin American street food etc.
Sometimes people simply grab pizza from the excellent pizzeria next door and join the screening.
Food is intentionally relaxed:
bowls, finger food, street food, popcorn, snacks, comfort food.
**Some nights are more gourmet.**
Some are glorified pizza-and-movie nights.
Both are valid forms of civilization **;-)**
## **What makes this different**
The group is i**ntentionally small**:
usually 6 to 8 people maximum.
**People are introduced properly.**
Nobody gets abandoned in a corner.
The atmosphere stays human, social and safe.
**No heavy drinking.**
**No creepy behavior.**
No random people showing up uninvited.
Smoking is allowed because is outside in the courtyard and occasionally we may have **hookah nights** depending on the movie/theme.

Shady Forest Hike from Pepinster to Spa (22km, 600m up)
The weather forecast for Saturday is dry but quite hot again. I suggest a forest hike that I also organized last year, because this hike has a lot of shade. We start in Pepinster and the track will lead us to the ruins of the Franchimomt castle after 8km. Afterwards we walk to the village Polleur, where we will cross an ancient bridge. The last part of the hike is through the Chawion nature reserve, before starting the descent to Spa, where we finish the hike with a beer (or two). We intend to finish not too late in Spa. Those who wish can stay longer and visit the thermal baths afterwards (It is quite expensive for what it is, I must say). Don't forget to bring a swim suit and a towel in case you want to visit the thermal baths.
As the number of participants is limited, it is important that you manage your registration responsibly: only sign up if you really intend to come and cancel as soon as you know you can’t (this also goes for people on the waiting list!). We will try to keep close to an average speed of about 4.5 km/h. We will walk mainly on unpaved roads. I’ve not tested this track beforehand, so it’s possible that there are some mistakes in the planning (i.e. it may become longer ;-).
**Important: this will be a challenging hike due to hot weather and a lot of elevation gain. So, only join if you are fit enough for this. Bring a lot of water!**

We meet at 9h46 in Pepinster (in front of the railway station). If you start from Brussels-Central, you should take train IC 506 towards Eupen at 08h01. I am starting from Ghent, so I will be on that train already. You can find me in the first carriage of the train. In Liege-Guillemins you need to change to train S41 5009 into the direction of Aachen Hbf at 9h19.
●● Train tickets:
I think that you need two separate tickets, because Pepinster and Spa are not on the same railway line.
●● Back to Brussels:
From Spa you have a train every hour back to Brussels (with a change in Verviers).

Weather forecast: More than 27 degrees but dry!
In the unlikely case of too bad weather, we may cancel a hike, even few hours before the event. If this must happen, we will of course update the Meetup website and send out an email to those registered. So it is important to have access to either the Meetup website and/or your emails.

Late cancellations are not well considered (at all). No-shows are even worse. Do not show up for a hike unless you are on the “going” list. People with the "go-with-the-flow" label are only moved from the waitlist 24 hours before the hike. I give you the label "go-with-the-flow" if you did not show up in one of my hikes before, or if you canceled for one of these hikes less than 24 hours in advance without a good reason.

You are responsible for yourself and should be fit enough if you want to take part. As the participation in the events is strictly voluntary and you freely choose to join, it is the responsibility of individuals participating to ensure that they are fit enough and have adequate coverage to protect themselves. Rejoignez-nous pour la septième étape de notre grand cycle « Les 12 Balades Qigong – Promenade Verte de Bruxelles ».
Chaque mois, nous parcourons un tronçon de la Promenade Verte en mêlant marche douce et pratique de Qigong en pleine nature.
Au fil du parcours, nous ferons des pauses pour pratiquer des mouvements simples de Qigong, accessibles à tous, afin de :

We begin with a gentle walk to reach a calm practice spot.
During the session, you’ll be introduced to Qigong — a simple and effective practice rooted in traditional Chinese movement. It combines slow movements, breathing, and attention to help release tension, improve mobility, and calm the nervous system.
The exercises are easy to follow, even if it’s your first time.
The focus is not on performance, but on sensation: moving with awareness, breathing more freely, and allowing the body to reset.
Depending on the session, we may explore sequences like **Ba Duan Jin (Eight Brocades)**, each with its own focus on circulation, joints, and overall energy.
We close with a quiet return walk, giving the body time to integrate — often leaving with a clearer mind and a lighter, more grounded feeling.
Merry Horse to Groendaal arboretum
This week we will repeat the walk from February from the always friendly Merry Horse to the Groendaal arboretum (hopefully with better weather this time 😅).
We through the forest to the nature zone, cross the old race track to the lakes at Groendaal.
We will return to our welcome starting point where our table awaits for a drink and/or lunch.

Silent Walk in the Forêt de Soignes
We will be walking through the forest for a little over 1 1/2 hours, silently, just noticing the world around us and inside us. The idea is to experience the magic of a different type of walking, The invitation is to slow down and notice what is going on inside you and around you.
Very often people experience a closer connection with nature and with self, with sometimes surprising insights.
*Please make sure you are fit enough to go the 4.5 km distance. We will be walking slowly, but we will not take any breaks.*
We will be meeting at the Hermann Debroux Metro at **14h**. (Exit straight ahead after leaving the platform--on the Loxam side).
If you RSVP as coming, please be on time. We will be starting our walk from there 5 min. after the hour sharp.
There is the renovated Maison de Prieur at the exit of the forest where we could gather for a drink or a meal after our walk, depending on what you feel like.

Walking in the Polders
We’ll enjoy a refreshing **2 hour loop** through the largest flood area in Flanders. Expect wide-open green views, the soundtrack of returning songbirds.
The walk follows paved paths, but also includes some dirt roads, so be sure to wear appropriate footwear.
At the end of our walk, I'd propose a picnic. We can always find some shade.
Optionally, we may have a drink (or small snack) , at the yacht club, if there will be space for our group. But, first idea is to have a picnic.

### The Commute: Catch the Waterbus ⛴️
For a scenic start to the afternoon, we recommend taking the **Waterbus** from Antwerp:
* Departure Point: Steenplein (Antwerp City Center).
* Departure Time: the boat leaves at 10:00AM sharp. (6euro return ticket, no cash!)
* The Experience: enjoy a breezy 17-minute ride down the river Scheldt. It’s the perfect way to see the Antwerp skyline before we dive into the greenery of Kruibeke.
(alternatively, you can arrive by bus 93, or via the ferry Hoboken-Kruibeke)
Lustin to Dinant (25km)
We will continue our footpath from last week, this time going south from Lustin, mostly on the GR 126. The route starts with a climb to a viewpoint over the Meuse, then winds through the rugged Meuse Valley, passing by the Abbaye de Leffe, and finally descending into Dinant with panoramic views of the Citadel, and a well-deserved stop for a drink or ice-cream, depending on the train schedule.
The number of participants is limited to 12, so please manage your registration responsibly: only sign up if you really intend to come and cancel as soon as you know you can’t (this also goes for people on the waiting list!).
We will try to keep close to an average moving speed of 5km/h. We will walk both on paved and unpaved roads. I’ve not tested this track beforehand, so it’s possible that there are some mistakes in the planning (i.e. it may become longer ;-).

Late Saturday morning walk at the Quarry Metro Park Trails
Join the Introverts of Columbus at Quarry Trails Metro Park for an afternoon walk in the Park. We'll meet near the parking lot area for about 15 minutes before heading out to chat and hike through the metro park.
This will be a casually paced walk to allow people to get to know each other, and enjoy nature at the same time.

Hike Scioto Audubon Trail with optional lunch at Nocterra
**No, the hike is not canceled! We will cut it short if need be but I’m confident we can do this! One of the last times (Feb.) it was 12 degrees and three of us showed up and had a fantastic time. I’m confident this hike will be the same :). Just bring water!**
