Nordic Walking Brockwell Park
Nordic Walking Brockwell Park
Ready to get outside? Our Friday morning Nordic Walk in Brockwell Park is back! At this moment we can meet with up to 30 people (of more than two households) to do outdoor exercise and walks. However, i like to keep our exercise groups small, so I have set the maximum participants at 12. For now this walk is for our experienced Nordic Walkers only, who already used to Nordic Walk with us regularly before Covid 19 kept us indoors, and who have their own Nordic Walking poles. As this session is outdoors, we will not ask you to wear a face mask, but we do ask you to keep 2 meters apart. Some of our walkers might be immune compromised or more at risk, so please help us keep everyone safe! Please do not come to the session and stay at home if: - you know you have been in contact - in the last 2 weeks- with someone with symptoms of possible Covid, or if you have been in contact with someone who tested positive. - you have any of the following symptoms: (new) Loss of smell/taste, Persistent cough, Fatigue, Loss of appetite, Skin rash, Hives, Fever, Severe muscle pain, Shortness of breath, Diarrhoea, Delirium, Abdominal pain, Chest pain, Hoarse voice, Eye soreness, Sore or painful throat, Nausea or vomiting, Headache, Dizziness or light headedness We meet by the Blackbird bakery in Herne Hill, between the station and the park. Session Price: £10 per session, £89 for a 10-session card or £70 unlimited sessions per month. Session cards and Pay Monthly can be used in any of our outdoor walks or indoor Zoom classes sessions (except for the Parkinson's sessions). Pay What Works: The price shown above is the “true” value of the session that best reflects the work I put into preparing and leading your session. However, I understand that not everyone can afford to pay full price, and I don’t want that to stop you from joining us. In an effort to find a balance between more financial accessibility and sustainable pricing, I now offer a “Pay What Works” model. This allows for financial flexibility while still valuing and respecting the work and energy I provide in creating and delivering these classes. Then send an email to ailien@fitandhappyoutdoors.com with the heading “INVOICE please”- followed by “FAHO 1” to pay full price as quoted below, “FAHO 2”, for 20% off, or “FAHO 3” for 50% off. Please do tell me if you want to pay for 10 sessions, or if you’d like to pay monthly. I prefer payment by bank transfer, but if that is not possible you could pay in cash. No cheques please, the queues by the banks are just too long. We walk in all safe weather conditions – if a walk is cancelled, we will contact you to let you know. Please check for text messages or Meetup messages before leaving home!

City of London: Nourishment for Post-Anthropocentric Banquet
City of London: Nourishment for Post-Anthropocentric Banquet
***N.B. Banquet is open to all - participants are invited to bring a vegan dish and recipe to share; in exchange for a free artwork edition*** This collective performance is organised by **[Tiziana Pers](https://www.instagram.com/tizianapers)** as part of ‘[Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead](https://www.instagram.com/mariahinel/p/DW3vlnuje3R)’, a group exhibition exploring animal agency, curated by host **[Maria Hinel](https://mariahinel.com)** at **[Hypha Gallery 1](https://hyphastudios.com/hypha-gallery1-at-no-1-poultry-2)** ([map](https://maps.google.com/?cid=5994705386449023815)). Each participant is invited to think of a dish without meat or fish or other animal derivatives, which represents an important moment in one's life, to transcribe the recipe, and to bring the described dish to the gallery. In exchange for their dish and recipe, each performer would receive a **numbered artwork edition multiple signed by the artist**, depicting an animal that she had saved from being killed. The dishes will be shared among all those present, in a real collective meal composed of a multitude of gestures and memories. The collection of recipes thus ideally contains a plurality of memories and notes aimed at imagining a possible banquet. The very gesture of sitting at a common table without pain, where future prospects and reflections can be shared, is today symbolically even more relevant. [Nourishment for a Post-Anthropocentric Banquet](https://www.instagram.com/rave_residency/p/DXIlAQnCHC5) is therefore a collective action that questions possible considerations, starting with the consumption of meat and fish on ecosystems and its role in climate change (which is beginning to show its cruellest face), and at the same time wants to imagine a humanity capable of coexistence, and no longer just existence. **Exhibition is on view until 18th April** Opening Hours: Wednesday-Saturday 11 AM-6 PM.

External Event: Wild Edibles: Late Spring Plants with Nick Spero
🌿 Wild Edibles: Late Spring Foraging Walk (NHSM Program) Have you ever wondered what edible plants grow quietly around us in Maryland forests? Join members of our group for a guided **wild edible plant walk** hosted by the Natural History Society of Maryland. We’ll be attending **Wild Edibles: Late Spring Plants**, a field program led by experienced forager Nick Spero. During the walk, participants will learn how to identify edible plants that emerge in Maryland’s woods during late spring. Along the way, instructor Nick Spero will discuss safe identification, ethical harvesting practices, and how these plants have traditionally been used for food and flavor. Species often discussed include **wild ginger, ramps, spicebush**, and other seasonal plants that grow in our region. The program is designed as a relaxed **nature exploration with discussion and plant identification along the trail**. Expect light to moderate hiking, frequent stops to observe plants up close, and plenty of opportunities to ask questions and learn from the landscape. More details about the program can be found here: [https://www.marylandnature.org/get-involved/events/event/wild-edibles-late-spring-plants-with-nick-spero-2/](https://www.marylandnature.org/get-involved/events/event/wild-edibles-late-spring-plants-with-nick-spero-2/) — 🥾 Difficulty — Easy to moderate walking with frequent stops for plant identification and discussion. — 💲 Cost — This is a **paid program organized by the Natural History Society of Maryland**. • Non‑NHSM Member — **$45** • NHSM Member — **$35** — 📍 Location — The exact meeting location is not listed unless you register for the event. In general, the event is Northeast of Baltimore and about an hour from Shady Groove Metro. — 📝 Registration — Members who plan to attend should **RSVP here on Meetup and also register directly with the Natural History Society of Maryland through their website**. Participants will **pay NHSM directly** when registering for the program. — 🎒 What to Bring — Based on the Natural History Society of Maryland's recommendations for this program: • Weather‑appropriate clothing (layers work best) • Sturdy closed‑toe hiking shoes or boots with good traction • Water and snacks • Sun protection such as sunblock and a hat • Bug spray if desired • Optional: a camera, guidebook, binoculars, or a small magnifying lens for examining plants These items help ensure everyone is comfortable during the walk and able to closely observe the plants we encounter along the trail. — 🚗 Carpooling — Once the location is confirmed, we can **coordinate optional carpooling through the Meetup event page** for anyone interested in sharing a ride. This should be a great opportunity to **learn about native plants, explore the landscape together, and deepen our understanding of the food that grows around us**.

Bird-Themed Trivia, Networking, and Socializing at NVBA HQ
Bird-Themed Trivia, Networking, and Socializing at NVBA HQ
Join NVBA and come prepared to test your knowledge and quick thinking at a bird-themed trivia night, hosted by NextGen Birders for Conservation at the Northern Virginia Bird Alliance HQ! Even if you think you know a lot about birds, nature, and wildlife, we hope that you will learn something new and have fun doing it. There will also be small prizes for the top-scoring participants! Given that this is the first event of this nature being hosted by NextGen, we will be informal in our approach to how you participate - feel free to attempt on your own, but we will encourage you to form small groups, based on total number of participants. The trivia will begin at 7:15PM sharp, after everyone has had a chance to settle in, and we will wrap things up by 8:45PM to allow for final score tallying, tiebreakers, and prizes. Even if you do not want to participate in the trivia, this could be a good opportunity to socialize and network with like-minded individuals who appreciate nature and knowledge. We will have snacks and beverages available - feel free to bring your own snacks as well. At the end of the event, we will announce upcoming NextGen and NVBA events - we encourage everybody who comes out to continue being involved with our bird walks and other events! Please come to the front door of the building and follow instructions posted on the door to contact somebody who will let you into the building and direct you to the location of the event. Any updates to this event will be sent as an email/notification to people who have RSVP'd "Yes."

VSDC Volunteer Day at Rosie's Farm Sanctuary - Saturday
Join us for a volunteer day helping the animals at Rosie's Farm Sanctuary in Potomac, MD. Before attending this event, you must sign a liability waiver. Please use this link [https://waiver.smartwaiver.com/w/b5nky2tonaovjqgjn6ap5p/web/](https://waiver.smartwaiver.com/w/b5nky2tonaovjqgjn6ap5p/web/) The chores you will be doing are physical. You will be working on big projects that require many volunteers like removing old bedding, sanitizing stals and replacing with new bedding, along with the daily clean up chores. Wear boots and clothing you don’t mind getting dirty. Feel free to bring a filled water bottle. On sunny days a brimmed hat and sunglasses may be helpful. Sunscreen is also suggested. Please do not bring any food or yummy-smelling items on your body or in your bag as our animals love to eat and are on special diets. Out of respect for the animals, we do not allow any food with animal products to be consumed at Rosie’s Farm Sanctuary. Please ensure that all edible items are plant-based (no dairy, no cheese, no cow’s milk ice cream, no meat, no fish, no eggs). Thank you for your cooperation and respect for this. It is very important to us. There is a gift shop where you can browse and warm up during the event. Please post your pictures and tag Rosie’s Farm Sanctuary and VSDC! Stick around at the end for a group photo behind the barn. If there is interest, we may go out to eat in one of our local vegan restaurants afterward. Women’s Life & Money Conversations – Monthly Meetup
Women’s Life & Money Conversations – Monthly Meetup
Hi everyone, Join us for a relaxed and welcoming conversation about life, money, and everything in between. This group is a space to connect with other women, share experiences, and talk openly about topics we don’t always get to discuss in everyday life—whether that’s financial goals, career transitions, investing, or simply navigating life decisions. There’s no pressure and no preparation needed—just come as you are. We’ll keep things informal and conversational. I’ll guide us through a few light prompts to get the discussion started, and everyone is welcome to share as much or as little as they’d like. 📍 We’ll meet at the Barnes & Noble café in One Loudoun ⏰ 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM I’ll be seated in the café area—look for me wearing something red and a small “Meetup” sign on the table. Feel free to come over and say hello when you arrive. If you’re on the fence, feel free to drop in—even for a short time 😊 Looking forward to meeting you! — Verna
