It's **Thursday** & our main night of the week & the fun & games are just getting started here at DWL! We're located here in the Cinema (which can be found on the 3rd floor of the Mercury Mall Shopping Centre) on: * **Tuesdays & Thursdays**: From 17:30 to 22:00. * **Saturdays**: From 12:00 to 22:00 🦁 And we're still running every Monday 6pm to 11pm at the Golden Lion Pub too. 🌭☕ There are hot & cold food & drink options available from the cinema at low prices! Supporting Premiere Cinema by buying their food & drink IS supporting Dicing With Life! The cinema has been very generous to us by bringing us into their space & our way of showing our gratitude is by sending some business their way. And their menu is surprisingly cheap! Especially compared to any other cinema. Here's some cool examples of some great **offers**: Buy a large **Popcorn** (it's a huge bucket!) or a large **fizzy drink** & it'll initially cost you £4, BUT, take your bucket or cup back to the bar for a **refill** & the cinema will refill it back up to the top for just £2! 🍿🥤 That's half price Popcorn & Pop! This also applies to **Ice Blasts** too (£5 initially but to refill it's just £3). There's also Hot Dogs, Nachos, Pick n Mix & many other treats in store too! Check out their menu 😋 If you have any questions, please ask & let the fun commence! 🎲

30‑Day Phone Reset for Men - Reclaim 1-3 Hours a Day
30‑Day Phone Reset for Men - Reclaim 1-3 Hours a Day
You’re 'busy' but you know a stupid amount of your time is disappearing into your phone. You unlock it without thinking and lose **30-60 minutes** to scrolling. You tell yourself **'one more video'** and suddenly it’s past midnight. You’re switched on all day, but your **focus feels fried** and the things that actually matter get pushed to “tomorrow” again. This workshop is for men who are **done with that** and want a clear, realistic way to take their time and focus back. **Who this is for** * **Founders, professionals, tech/finance guys, ambitious students** * Men who are doing “fine” on paper but know their **phone use is getting out of hand** * Anyone who looks at their screen‑time report and thinks: **“That’s getting ridiculous.”** **What you’ll get in 90 minutes:** We’ll go straight to work. By the end of the session you will: * **Audit your current phone use** Identify the exact apps and times of day that are quietly stealing your time and attention. * **Design your personal 30‑day phone rules** Simple, realistic rules you can actually keep (no monk‑mode, no throwing your phone in the river). * **Set up a basic “Dopamine Operating System”** How to change notifications, home‑screen layout, and habits so **discipline becomes easier than distraction.** * **Leave with a written 30‑day plan** You’ll walk out with a **one‑page plan** to start the next day, not just “motivation.” ### **Format** * **Location:** Central London (details in the event info) * **Duration:** \~90 minutes * **Style:** Short talk, live exercises, Q&A * **Bring:** Your phone, your screen‑time, and something to write with At the end I’ll share how you can join a small **30‑Day Dopamine Reset** group for men who want accountability, daily check‑ins, and a **win‑your‑money‑back** challenge on cutting wasted screen‑time. ### **Who this is NOT for** * Men who think their phone use is “fine” and just want to argue * Anyone looking for generic productivity tips instead of actually changing habits If you’re in London, you’re serious about your life, and you’re tired of wasting evenings on your phone, **grab a spot and show up ready to work.** Tickets are £10. If you decide to join the 30‑Day Dopamine Reset afterwards, your £10 comes off the fee.
CLH Book Group 📚 The Pioneering Life of Mary Wortley Montagu
CLH Book Group 📚 The Pioneering Life of Mary Wortley Montagu
February's book: The Pioneering Life of Mary Wortley Montagu: Scientist and Feminist by Jo Willett 300 years ago, in April 1721, a smallpox epidemic was raging in England. Lady Mary Wortley Montagu knew that she could save her 3-year-old daughter using the process of inoculation. She had witnessed this at first hand in Turkey, while she was living there as the wife of the British ambassador. She also knew that by inoculating - making her daughter the first person protected in the West - she would face opposition from doctors, politicians and clerics. Her courageous action eventually led to the eradication of smallpox and the prevention of millions of deaths. But Mary was more than a scientific campaigner. She mixed with the greatest politicians, writers, artists and thinkers of her day. She was also an important early feminist, writing powerfully and provocatively about the position of women. She was best friends with the poet Alexander Pope. They collaborated on a series of poems, which made her into a household name, an ‘It Girl'. But their friendship turned sour and he used his pen to vilify her publicly. Aristocratic by birth, Mary chose to elope with Edward Wortley Montagu, whom she knew she did not love, so as to avoid being forced into marrying someone else. In middle age, her marriage stale, she fell for someone young enough to be her son - and, unknown to her, bisexual. She set off on a new life with him abroad. When this relationship failed, she stayed on in Europe, narrowly escaping the coercive control of an Italian conman. After twenty-two years abroad, she returned home to London to die. The son-in-law she had dismissed as a young man had meanwhile become Prime Minister. The meeting starts at 7:15. At 7:30 pm we will break up into small groups. Those familiar with the CLH Book Group meeting know how this works: in each group we take turns introducing ourselves and giving our 1 minute thoughts on the book. It's important not to go over a minute and not to interrupt other people's minute so that everyone gets a chance to participate. After this first round, each group discusses for another 20 minutes or so. We then shuffle the groups so as to talk to as many different people as possible and in the new groups repeat our introductions and 1 minute thoughts. We'll do this a couple of times before coming all together at the end in one last big group. While we are very social and welcoming, the book group's primary focus is on discussing books. Feel free to turn up if you haven't managed to finish this month's book but note that the group works best when we have all read at least half of the book and are prepared to share our opinions. *** £3 per person to attend. If it's your first time, come and try us out for free! If you prefer, you can [pay online, by clicking here](https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=ZWCNRJ25BDL96). We encourage dialogue, debate and sharing of information on our site but ask people to keep their comments cordial. Any views expressed here are those of the individual posting them and may not reflect those of CLH.

Queer Spirit Full Moon Imbolc Circle
Queer Spirit Full Moon Imbolc Circle
Radical Faeries and Queer Spirits gather in south London just before the Virgo full moon, the last full moon of winter! This month we celebrate London's gay history - and specifically the spirit of the Mollies: 300 years ago London's queer subculture was already developing (and maybe had been for much longer). In February 1726 London's molly houses were raided, mollies arrested, tried and 3 men were sent to the gallows. Mother Clap's molly house in Holborn was one of several establishments raided after an undercover surveillance operation by members of the Society for the Reformation of Manners, which had been exposing the existence of mollies since the start of the century - describing a scene that was already well formed: groups of men met regularly at molly ‘clubs’ where they used ‘maiden’ nicknames for one another, danced together, camped it up, sometimes dressed in drag on special ‘festival nights’, and had a specialized molly slang. "Most of the sodomites convicted from 1698 through 1709 were entrapped due to the zeal of one man, Rev William Bray, the leading organizer of the Society for the Reformation of Manners. Most of the raids on molly houses through the 1720s were lead by six members of the Society who infiltrated the molly houses. The founding leaders of the Societies, such as Rev Bray, were dead by 1730, and due to a financial scandal the Societies formally disbanded in 1738. Relatively little is known about the queer subculture after that date: not because queers went underground, but because specific groups of moral reformers no longer worked actively to reveal them." COUNT has been volunteering there since May 2014. Housewarmers work with RMH guests to provide a home-like environment - greet, assist with family needs, answer phones, give tours, assist with checkin/checkout, prepare guest rooms after checkout, clean facility, laundry, restock supplies and staff the front desk. RMH Housewarmers volunteer at least one four-hour shift a month. All Housewarmers must complete an application and agree to a background check before they can be full fledged volunteers.
