Scrabble
Scrabble
A chilled-out Saturday afternoon playing Scrabble and/or Upwords. **The Plan** * 1400 Arrive at Eaton Hotel - go to the food court on Lower Ground floor & look for a table with a Scrabble box. * Stay and play as long as you want to! **What To Do** 1. RSVP here 2. Please ensure the organiser knows your Meetup username & the name/pronouns you usually use. If you’re new and/or don’t yet know the organiser, please DM the organiser with this information via Meetup, or join the Scrabble WhatsApp chat within the Tandem community. **Please note:** 1. Tandem is a community of volunteers; everything you see is created by our members giving up their time and labour. None of our organisers profit from events; any charges listed are those from other parties and we never add a mark-up. In this context, we need attendees to do their best to reduce the workload of our volunteer team by reading the event description and these notes carefully; and follow the instructions in order to register a place on the event. Please be considerate and helpful with our team – we are all volunteers. 2. If you require special accessibility accommodations for the event (i.e., accessible venue, accessible restrooms, noise levels, lighting conditions, etc) and are unsure whether they can be met, please reach out to the organiser/host. 3. We encourage language inclusivity at all our events. If you aren't confident in English, please let our team know. We will try to provide bilingual support where possible and/or will try and introduce you to other language speakers you're more comfortable with. Please be mindful that we might not be able to accommodate all languages at all events, but we will do our best to make everyone feel welcome and heard. 4. If you sign up, but can no longer make it, please update your RSVP as soon as possible and tell the organiser. Updating your RSVP well ahead of the event allows us to manage the waitlist; allow other people to attend; know who to look out for at the start of the event; and manage any relevant bookings, such as table reservations. 5. If you don’t have a clear face pic on your profile and/or your username doesn’t match the name you normally use, we can’t identify your payments nor match your RSVP with who you are in real life. If this is you, please ensure the organiser knows who you are. If we can’t work out who you are within 24hrs of your RSVP, we will move you to “Not Going”. 6. Only group members and their guests with an RSVP may attend events; people who aren’t signed up will be refused entry to events. 7. If you don’t follow the conditions above, we will move you to “Not Going” for future events until you message us to confirm you will follow these conditions.

**CLEAR MIND: One Day Silent Retreat with Gen Kelsang Tonglam** **Meditations will be guided in English.** **Sunday 28 June 11:30am – 5:30pm** Treat Yourself to a Day of Peace! Observing silence is a powerful method to disengage us from this busyness and it leads us naturally to deeper levels of being. On this one-day silent retreat, we will learn to quiet our mind through meditation, and come to discover its true nature, clarity, and thereby experience a deep sense of inner peace. Fee: $220. The Tourmaline Tower's at One Shot Saturday (Tabletop RPGs)
The Tourmaline Tower's at One Shot Saturday (Tabletop RPGs)
**The Tourmaline Tower's** A fabled dungeon that's long been played out of anything dangerous. Refurbished and converted after the S-rank party Fabuleuse broke the dungeon's core, these days it's where retired adventurers go for some R&R. But weirdly, things have started to happen to this sacred spa and sauna and it's left to its staff and tourists to find out what's going on - wthout weapons, armor, and all things dungeon! A game that uses FATE. **Goat Crashers:** You're a CHEEKY LITTLE GOAT and you want to PARTY. Problem is, the only party is being held by HUMANS who don't want goats to 'ruin' it. But to HELL WITH THEM. You're going to get inside by any means necessary and have the BEST TIME. WHAT IS ONE-SHOT SATURDAY? It's a weekly meet-up in Sheung Wan/Central, focusing on indie games and single-session games (one-shots). 而家所有游戏係英文嘅但如果你要嚟玩中文游戏,我哋會無任歡迎。只要湊啱玩家就行! You can drop in and play at any One-Shot Saturday – you do not need to have played in a previous session or commit to playing again. Whether you've played an RPG before or not, you're welcome to join us. Please arrive on time as once the games begin it becomes difficult to properly introduce latecomers. Join the conversation, make plans, suggest games to play, etc. — Facebook group: [https://www.facebook.com/groups/oneshotsaturdays/](https://www.facebook.com/groups/oneshotsaturdays/) \*\*\* WHAT IS A TABLETOP RPG? It's a game in which you never know where the next stop will be, because it’s all down to the decisions you and your fellow players make. Usually one person is the Game Master (or "GM"). Everyone else will be players, taking the role of the characters in the game. The players get to say what their characters say, think, and do. The GM describes everything else in the world. Then... we play to find out what happens. The game is a conversation: I say something, then you reply, maybe someone else chimes in. We talk about what's happening to the characters we imagine and the world around them. We also talk about the rules, which help us decide what happens next if the next step is in doubt. The rules differ from game to game: some use dice to shape the story, others use cards or something else. It's always a conversation, though.

Shut Up & Write! Kingsdale Shopping Center
Shut Up & Write! Kingsdale Shopping Center
Greetings writers! Come down and join your fellow wordsmiths for one hour of uninterrupted writing time in the upper level of the Market District Supermarket in Upper Arlington. The main entrance of the shopping center opens onto stairs/elevator leading up to the 2nd floor cafe section where we will have a table displaying a sign with the Shut Up & Write logo. Writing is largely a solitary craft. Practicing with others in a community setting may be the thing you need to fire your own routine. We’ll meet on Wednesday evenings, starting the clock at 6:30, following a brief period of introductions. This is solid writing time and all inclusive. Any project is acceptable, be it fiction, non -fiction, work or homework assignment. All is welcome and will remain private to you. The market boasts a Starbucks, a full service bar and various affordable food options. Parking is plentiful, free Wifi is provided as well as outlets for charging your devices, though they are somewhat limited, so plan accordingly. Show up as early as you like, or stay late. This group tends to socialize some, both before and after the alloted time, but this is not mandatory to you. Feel free to come and go as you please and late arrivals are welcome. The cafe may be noisy on occasion so headphones/ earbuds are reccommended as you see fit. Please try to RSVP if possible so that we may grab enough seats for all—the venue can be busy at times. Feel free to message me privately wth any questions and/ or concerns you may have. Happy writing!
