We are the Friends of the Myles Standish State Forest Hiking Group, an off-shoot of Friends of MSSF. We try to hold monthly guided hikes in the forest, usually the first Sunday of the month. We want to encourage everyone to learn about and enjoy this wonderful resource. All ages are welcome. Friendly dogs are okay too. If you love hiking you will discover that MSSF has some great places to explore. FMSSF conducts work parties and hosts events in and about the forest. Please consider joining FMSSF too. The forest belongs to all of us but it needs many more friends to keep it viable.

If you need directions to the forest, find a map of the forest in "Files". Look for MylesStandishSmr-DCR—Map of Myles Standish State Forest, Summer.

For GPS navigation the MSSF Headquarter's address is 194 Cranberry Road, South Carver, MA 02366.

Want to attend?

We haven't finalized the Dec. 6 hike yet. We will e-mail the group when we figure out who is leading and where we will hike.

Our hikes are usually 3 to 4 miles long, and are easy to moderate. We hike in every kind of weather, except dangerous. Usually around 15 to 20 people come, all ages are welcome, so are good dogs. Read more

What members are saying

Many friendly people who enjoy each other's company.

We always have a guide who knows the trails well but no one will ever try to push you or hold you back. Everyone goes at their own pace, enjoys the forest in their own way. ...

“I'm bored and my husband is a couch potato. I live in Plymouth, although not originally from this area. I have a long commute to work and I'd like to do something healthy and make friends close to home.”
