What we're about

If you’re looking to meet new friends in London then our social events group may just be the right place for you.

You'll not only get the chance to meet new people, but you'll also be able to sample every type of activity that involves socialising; Nights out, Walks, Museums, Live Music, Treasure Hunts, Day Trips, Galleries, Parties, Picnics, Dance Nights, Live Comedy, travel etc. Our social group is also free to join and 95% of our events/meetups are also free to attend.

Friends in London is now one of the largest and often the best attended Meetup group in the UK. However, as we've grown we firmly believe we've remained as welcoming as ever - at least that's the constant feedback we receive time and time again. Friends in London Meetup Group was founded by brothers Martyn Lloyd and Terry Lloyd 8 years ago who both still continue to host every event.

If you're new to the meetup scene we thoroughly recommend searching through the past events of as many meetup groups as possible. Check out the independent reviews/ratings of past events and then make a decision from there as to whether you think that meetup would be suitable for you. If you do that research then we just may make your list of appropriate groups :-)

Please note that members must be adults over the age of 18 to attend our events. However, providing members are adults, all ages are welcome at our events.

Also feel free to join over 4,000 members who follow us on Facebook by 'Clicking Here'. (https://www.facebook.com/friendsinlondon)

Please note that before attending any of our events, it is compulsory to read and agree with our terms and conditions. These can be read by 'Clicking Here' (http://www.meetup.com/friends-in-london/pages/Terms_and_Conditions/).

We hope to see you soon at a future event if you decide to join :-)

Bank Holiday Monday Stroll through Regent's Park

St John's Wood

Join us on a Bank Hoiliday Monday pre-planned Stroll through the elegant Regent's Park in North-West London. This tranquil park covers an area of over 395 acres. The park is renowned for its dramatic tree-lined pathways, formal gardens, scenic boating lake and over 100 species of wild bird. The walk will be approximately 3 miles and this week the organisers of Friends in London meetup group visited Regent's Park to pre-plan the route. We will meet at 2:00 pm outside the main exit of St John's Wood Tube Station and the organisers will be holding a meetup sign to help you recognise our group. We will finish the walk near Regent's Park Tube Station and everyone will have the option of joining us for an hour at a nearby pub/bar. Membership to our Friends in London community group and this meetup are both free. Our walks are led at a slow-moderate pace. Please note that by the act of attending our events, members (and guests of members) confirm they have read and agreed with our terms and conditions. Friday Late at The National Portrait Gallery

National Portrait Gallery

Join us for a Friday-Late-Opening at the National Portrait Gallery located near Trafalgar Square. The National Portrait Gallery houses the world's largest collection of personalities and faces, from the late Middle Ages to the present day. The gallery was founded in 1856 to collect portraits of famous British men and women. Today the gallery contains over 200,000 portraits. Inside you'll find everything from paintings of royalty, musicians and celebrities - to photos of sporting stars and gloriously unflattering political caricatures. The gallery has free entry and is open until 9:00 pm on our visit. We will meet outside the main entrance on St Martin's Place at 7:00 pm (organisers will have a Meetup sign). After a 10 minute wait we will then enter the gallery. Membership to our Friends in London community meetup group and this meetup event are also free. Please note this is a general visit to the permanent exhibitions rather than an official guided tour. However, we have carefully mapped out and pre-planned a great route which we can explore as a group, which will cover many of the major highlights in the gallery. We will spend approximately 90 minutes visiting the gallery. After our visit, members have the option of joining us at a nearby local bar/pub for drinks and a chat about our experience. Please note that by the act of attending our events, members confirm they have read and agreed with our terms and conditions. Saturday Socialising/Drinks in Central London @ the Historic Cittie of Yorke

****RSVP's FOR THIS MEETUP WILL OPEN EXACTLY 14 DAYS BEFORE THIS EVENT. THIS IS BECAUSE MOST OF OUR EVENTS HAVE WAITING LISTS AND OPENING RSVP's AT A LATER DATE REDUCES THE NUMBER OF 'NO-SHOWS****. Join us for Saturday Socialising and Drinks at one of London's most beautiful venues - the Cittie of Yorke in Central london which has a history dating back to the 15th century. Even the poet Dylan Thomas wrote about the venue on one of his frequent visits. We have reserved the back area of this historic and spacious pub just for our Friends in London Meetup Group. This venue is just a 1-minute walk from Chancery Lane Tube Station on the Central Line. Both membership to our Friends in London community meetup group and entry to this event are free. This event is ideal for conversation and getting to know members as there is no music in the venue (we do also organise music/dj events but we also find it's important to bring variety to our meetups). The event hosts (Martyn and Terry) will be waiting to greet new members in our reserved area at the back of the venue which will be clearly marked with red and white Meetup signs. You'll be able to recognise us as we will be holding the attendance lists and our photos are on the RSVP list. The event will start at 8:00 pm and will finish when the venue closes at 11:00 pm. We highly recommend new members arrive as close to the 8:00 pm start as possible (ideally before 8:30 pm). At this time it's much easier to introduce new members to the group, before most members start arriving. Please note that while we kindly ask new members to arrive before 8:30 pm - please can everyone arrive by 9:30 pm at the very latest. Please note that by the act of attending our events, members confirm they have read and agreed with our terms and conditions. Saturday Socialising/Music + Outdoors area @ Conductor (Exclusive Venue Hire)

****RSVP's FOR THIS MEETUP WILL OPEN EXACTLY 14 DAYS BEFORE THIS EVENT. THIS IS BECAUSE MOST OF OUR EVENTS HAVE WAITING LISTS AND OPENING RSVP's AT A LATER DATE REDUCES THE NUMBER OF 'NO-SHOWS****. Join us for Saturday Socialising, Drinks and Music at a stunning new venue in Central London - the Conductor. We have exclusive hire of the entire 200+ capacity venue (including the outdoors seating area) just for our Friends In London Meetup group members. Both membership of our Friends In London community meetup group and to the event itself are free. The first part of the night will be ideal for conversation and getting to know other members as the music won't start until the second part of the night. Then we will play popular party music in the main bar. There will also be quieter areas in the venue throughout the night just for socialising where the music will be low volume. The event will start at 7:30 pm and will finish when the venue closes at midnight. The bar is just a 6 minute walk from St Paul’s underground station (Central Line). Also the venue is just a short walk from Chancery Lane and Blackfriars Tube Stations (Circle and District). Below, in the 'comments section', are also links to photographs of the entrance to our venue. One is just of the exterior. The second photograph shows Starbucks Coffee Shop just to the right hand-side as a reference point. The group organisers (Martyn and Terry) will be waiting to greet members after you walk through the main entrance. We highly recommend new members arrive as close to the 7:30 pm start as possible (ideally before 8:30 pm).
