From Street Film Co-op
4.5

Street Film Co-op welcomes any member to start a project. Here's info on how you can start a project or seek interest in your potential project. Please note: this is a standing meetup with info and it is not an actual invite to meet. The meetup site doesn't allow for a permanent post to be up but requires a deadline to be given. Types of projects Short films, web series, extremely low-budget features, a proof of concept short film for your feature, etc. There are no limitations on the type or length of project. Bear in mind that projects should be low to no budget. Each project will be posted for 2 months and interested people will contact you directly. Read below for more details and how-to’s. Contact the group's organizer Ian Nichol if you wish to launch a project. Create your own project description in a word doc (you will email to Ian) or email, based on past projects. Be engaging, tell a little about yourself, get people excited in your idea. Include your email and repeat it again but spelling it so you are putting “at” instead of @. The meetup site can sometimes hide email addresses in meetup posts. Keep the text re: the meetup's meeting date is just a deadline and not an actual meeting date. Email your posting with a fun photo of you (has to be landscape shape for the meetup template). Email all this to the meet-up's 2 amazing organizers: Erin and Andy. They will let you know if they have any questions before posting it. Please consider crediting the Organizer, Ian Nichol, as Executive Producer or Associate Producer in your credits and on imdb. Co-op members are eager to participate and will reply to your post.

This will be located in Cloverdale Commons located in Cloverdale Mall. Please use the Mall entrance closest to Fairgrounds. Inside the mall we are directly after Fairgrounds and Service Ontario, look for Cloverdale Commons. This is an informal improv workshop where we get together to play games and scenes similar to those in Whose Line is it Anyways: https://youtu.be/KF3D2TMUhN8. If you want to boost your acting chops or are just looking for some silly fun, this is the place to be! The price is $10 per person (cash or interac, at the door) to help cover the costs of running the event. There are usually 10-20 people. The session starts with introductions, followed by group games then finishes with audience/performance sessions. Max capacity is 30 and spots are held based on how soon you sign up. See you there! P.S. - Doors close at 15 minutes after start so make sure to arrive on time!

TABLE READS + Story Craft & Drinks

TABLE READS + Story Craft & Drinks

Sun, Feb 22, 12:00 AM
From The Inkubation Project
4.8

https://secure.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/5/1/2/c/600_450140780.jpeg We're getting together with Writers and Actors to read full scripts, and give feedback. Discussions on the craft of good storytelling are a big part of the evening. We sometimes 'break' stories with writers - arming them with index cards, working with them to identify key moments in their script, sharpen character objectives, and seek greater conflict to increase stakes in the story. Our goal is to incubate new work, and help writers take their script to the next draft (and beyond). If you would like to have your script read, or 'break' your story idea with the room, please message Jarrett Rusnak. Beer, wine, and snacks will be served. We request a small PWYC to cover expenses.

\*These classes are not a language exchange, but instead are meant to be a step in between so that students feel confident maintaining in depth and grammatically correct oral conversations outside of class\* \***Meetup event numbers only tend to show new students registering and do not include returning students attending class.** **Per class, there is an average of 7 students.** The first 2 classes are free and then only cost between $15 and $35 depending on which type of class you want to continue with\* These French, English (For Spanish and French speakers only), and Spanish classes are primarily meant for adults who are travellers, or who are planning to live in a French, English, or Spanish-speaking country. They will teach you how to handle conversations in situations such as **"Going to the Convenience Store"**, **"Making Plans"**, **"Negotiating Prices"**, and **"Going out for a Drink"**. To ensure that students get used to using the language automatically, students will learn to maintain contextual conversations with timing before moving on to the next lesson. Improv For New Friends

Improv For New Friends

Sat, Feb 21, 11:00 PM
From Improv Your Social Skills
4.8

Don't be disappointed if you don't see a bunch of people attending. I advertise this on multiple platforms and the class usually sells out. Improv comedy uses several techniques to create laughter. These include, creating an atmosphere free of judgement, saying 'yes', active listening, being positive, putting your focus on others, and the importance of play and laughter. Not coincidentally, these are the same things that happen to us naturally when we are bonding with another person. In this class, we'll explore these techniques not with the goal of being funny, but with the goal of being people that other people want to be around. The organizer, Ralph MacLeod, is a co-founder of two independent improv clubs in Toronto - Bad Dog Theatre and Social Capital Theatre. He's been teaching improv for over 30 years. He also teaches these same techniques to several organizations including UofT, Google, Kraft, Shopify and many, many more. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have! FAQs and Good To Know.... After every event, a group from this class sit down and have a drink together so be prepared to stay if you want! Of course, you don't HAVE to. You also don't have to be single or bring a friend. The vibe of this class is much more 'making new friends' than a 'singles' mixer'. We usually run to 8:15 so pay for extra parking!
