Make Your Own Pottery in Brooklyn

North Madison will be hosting a pottery experience with included refreshing beverages at the wonderful Joy Flower Pot in Williamsburg, NYC, on Saturday, 19th September 6:30-9:30PM. Whether you're a complete beginner or a more experienced craft hound, this workshop is a wonderful opportunity to hone in on your skills and broaden your knowledge and experience working with this raw, dynamic material. This fun, relaxed and playful workshop will focus on making a variety of hand-built vessels such as tea-ware, mugs and vases, and bringing your own ideas and projects is heavily encouraged. Take your first step as a potter or ignite an old passion with this inspirational, open and educational workshop experience. Step away from the digital world and instead, relax into bringing your own ideas alive through guided, hands-on art-making. After this workshop, you will be ready to make your own pottery from home. At $110, this event includes all materials, including ceramic paints, clay and various texture choices, professional firing and glazing, and light in-house made beverages. North is an artist and potter from New Zealand with almost a decade of practical experience and a BFA from Whitecliffe College of Arts and Design. She has collaborated with and studied under some of New Zealand’s leading artists and designers, and has led over six hundred art workshops across New Zealand, Hawai‘i and mainland USA, in settings as varied as markets, forests, galleries, high schools, festivals and Buddhist academies. An Intro to Soldering

Welcome to our soldering basics class! This class is for beginners and designed to teach you a few important fundamentals on soldering, an essential skill for anyone interested in electronics or DIY projects. We’ll go over solder types, soldering temperatures, and basic through hole component soldering. You’ll learn techniques and tips on how to properly flow solder into a joint, and how to inspect it to ensure you have a good connection. All of this will be taught on a custom circuit board designed for practicing a variety of different circumstances and techniques, which is yours to take home after the class. No experience is necessary, and all equipment and tools will be provided for you to use during the class. The class will run around 1.5-2 hours.

Wednesday Evening Inline Skate Class on Pier 76

PLEASE NOTE THAT LOCATION OF THIS CLASS IS NOT IN CENTRAL PARK We will be meeting in Pier 76 on Hudson River Park This inline-skate lesson is intended for beginner to intermediate levels. You need a complete set of protection gear (helmet, wrist guards, knee pads, and elbow pads) to participate in class. Cost of this class is $25 per individual. Fees are collected before class begins. We recommend that you pay in advance, using the PayPal option. (If you want to buy classes in bulk, the cost is $45 for 2 classes, or $60 for a package of 3 classes. Discount packages should be paid in full.) We will meet just inside of pier 76 at 06:15PM; please walk inside of pier and keep to the left side (South side) of the pier under the overhead canopy Please check your gear to see if it fits properly, before coming to class. Make sure the wheels, buckles, straps, snaps, laces and everything else is in good working order. If it is raining or the lesson surface area is wet, we will NOT have the class. Tai Chi & Qigong - an hour of calm and quiet

This meeting is in person in our studio on 29th Street. We start with a Qigong warmup, Tai Chi basics, and the practice and learning of the Yang 24 Tai Chi form. We start with this classic Yang 24, and them move on to the "Wu system" - elegant, slow, powerful. The Yang 24 introduces all the basic Tai Chi elements and you'll get a good sense of what makes Tai Chi so special. Stick with it, and you can your way your way to sword, saber, cane, fan and more! Depending on who is attending, we end class with a Qigong set suitable for the moment (5 Elements, 13 Luohan or something else intriguing.) Of course, "Push Hands" is part of any Tai Chi system, and we often end the class by exploring Tai Chi moves with a partner. This meetup in intended to give you space to focus - on breathing, on your body, your mind, and on your health - without distractions. We relax and move with awareness and balance.
