Saturday Morning “Coffee and Art” Meetup - Personal Project Theme

Hello everyone, It's been a while since our last meetup, so let's catch up! I wanted to let you know we will be having our next meetup on May 23rd. The meetup will be at Memory Look, a cozy coffee spot in Koreatown with open-air seating in the back. There’s free parking available behind the cafe. Be sure to bring your drawing materials and a sketchbook for a relaxed and creative hangout. I hope to see you there, and feel free to message me if you have any questions. This meetup doesn’t have a specific theme, so feel free to focus on your personal project. You can use your phone to find reference images from Google or Pinterest to inspire your work. Any medium is welcome, whether it’s graphite, paint, or digital. **There will be a cap on this meetup** because of **limited space**; therefore, **RSVP early to reserve your spot**. We will meet **at the cafe at 9:30 am**. *Please don't RSVP for this meetup if you're not sure you can make it. The waitlist will be available, but the space is not guaranteed until someone cancels. We are a community of **artists, thinkers, technicians, and curious minds** from all walks of life exploring how technology can serve human flourishing in 2026! Whether if you're an AI enthusiast or skeptic, a creative professional or someone just beginning to navigate our rapidly changing world, this group is for you! The conversations we have at our **“support group for the technological singularity”** are designed to meet everyone at their level of understanding - no technical background required, just an open mind and genuine curiosity about our collective future. How do we preserve community, creativity, connection, and purpose in this new age? Our focus for 2026 is to build out our community into somewhere between a participatory lab, an art salon and a social group. So we will be talking about and experimenting with LLMs, vibe coding and AI generated imagery and sound. We discuss the ethical and cultural implications of this new powerful set of tools as well as trade tips, discuss use cases and share workflows for getting the most out of this new era. Speed up the learning process, “cut to the chase” and enroll in our new Sight Size measuring for the figurative artist and become a “Classical Illusionist” Painting the cast using Sight-Size develops the ability to see shapes and proportions accurately, by continuously comparing the drawn shapes with the cast. This class will develop the accuracy of drawing skills, the ability to correctly judge and paint values, and finesse transitional tones and edges to give the painting the illusion of three-dimensions. The three main objectives of this class: 1\. Drawing \- draw the shapes of the cast in correct proportion\, beginning with the big shapes then the smaller shapes\. 2\. Values\- Learn to correctly judge values by using 5\-7 tone scale which we will mix on the palette\. We will begin by first establishing the three major value relationships: the light shape\, the shadow shape and the background\. 3\. This step gives the painting three\-dimensional qualities\, and the form will take the 3D qualities of an object sitting in a space\.
